  1. Well done Birthday Boy I was sure it was well known as I have all the UK singles but dont collect LPs this would of haunted me for ages? So there you go 2 excellant singles on 1 record, this is typical cost cutting from the Treasured Island and a good example of how poor it is? likw re useing record sleaves and so on, I know of a french man whp paid £150 for an origanal COXONE Studio 1 paper bag..this is true as things like that are extreamly rare? NICE ONE TOMY DAVE(never afraide to ask!)KIL

I was going to post my Demo but it's now up there. the record was played at the TORCH as such I dispute that 1972 is the mid 7ts? although he cant remember but I can clearly Mick Selling the very rare White DEMO for £5 in the mid 8ts 85, and also his UK Monument /London Demo a top collectors item. Poceeding this record was "Magic Potion" B side of the standard "Reach out for me" both songs are Bacharach/David Was Popular in the 6ts by origanal MODS in Soho clubs and at the Twisted Wheel Club making this an all time classic and I believe it was Ady C who gave it a revival s some 20years on from its MOD plays. Also the Scotchman Glaswegion Frankie Vaughn did get fame from covering Lous songs as well as Adam(Budgie)Faith, the EP the Magic Potion of Lou Johnson is also highly collectable on origanal London Label. TNIS CLASSIC RECORD WAS PRODUCED BY THE FAMOUSE TONY CAMILLO! (BAZOOKA Fame) HE IS BEST KNOWN FOR BEING IN DAWN "TIE A YELLOW RIBBON" which love it or hate it? it's one of the most well known pop songs of all time, as a Producer he worked with Dorithy Moore who was in Dawn on "Misty Blue" & lead vocal in the Poppies "pain in my heart" and the Gypsies "Jerk It & "it's a Womans World" Old Town records (that is very rare on origanal blue label) the Di Newby has been discussed but Johnson I dont know but as for Johnny? I dont think so. but it would be good if was him, Both sides of this GEM are excellant and is a must for all collections, the UK DEMO is the only way to DJ this record as all other formats are "Cheap as Chips" DAVE KIL
  4. Hi to you All - 1st thing fist:-Over the last 30 years working as a Local Goverment Officor and my Proffeaional position as a Counsellor (20yrs)specialiseing on all aspects that relate to chemical dependancy which is a chronic relapsing condition (I am a sufferer) Working in the Voluntryy Sector & the NHS. As part of my duties I have attended so many funarals of the young and the old, mostley with just hostel staff, council officors and maybe a neighber?..This being so I chose not to attend to-day as I think many closer people than I knew Marge, that does not mean I did not say a few words and lit a candle as I always have as a lapsed RC old habbits but very symbolic? and I was not up to it re:- Depresive Illness. But I do hope that Dave is fine and both mine and Maries Love goes to him on such a sad day (yesterday). Reguarding this post, I am very please at the adult and factual comments that have been made. Also the information given on advice especialy on the practical and complexity that comes out of record collecting and our devetion to the aspect of never conforming to the normallity of others outside our scene, which is as such a extension of our Latant teenage years as for all who come from the black & white Generation are the 1st generation of teenagers, We have done very well, and I always enjoy the feeling of unity that I recieve from people when attending a Soul event when you are greated with a traditional Northern Soul Handshake, this has become a symbolic statement of what is the core of the scene, ...Sadley though the tuth is for all "Time Does Pass us By" far to quickley once we reach our 40 Birthday. This topic has for myself been extreamly informative and in it's self I believe is near conpleate on issues such as Making a Will as it is clear this is a must for all to do. After watching a daytime TV programme about this subject of not making arrangments for the future it could be for some that your intentions may not come to fruition by not updateing you will and resulting in the person you intended to leave you belongings to misses out and even to the piont that a indervidual who you have come to dispier gets your inherancy: -Can anyone with knowlage or in the no clarrify or knows a sight covering the legalities of the gist behing my topic? and should we not make tis as a resource for all people who use Soul-Source UK as it is a issue that at some stage effect 90% of the Membership and would benifit all if a sudden situation occured to ant of us?? "KEEPING the FAITH" DAVE KIL.
  5. Hi if there's anyone from the Wolves Area and could pass a message from Ivor Abadi the owner of the WHEEL, Just read his email to myself, Regarding the news of Franks stroke, He seems to remember you all and wishes Frank good health and to all the patrons of MANCHESTERS most famous ALL-NIGHTER, I Have his phone# if you need to talk to him, However this # is for only Wheelites who would like to speak to him not Voyeur's! DAVE KIL
  6. HI LADS I have a Jamaican blank with George Soule "Get Involved" A Brilliant record that had a UK release on UA in the 7ts, but its the B side that has a familiar 7ts group sound but I cant find out who it is but I should no? the next bit is annoying as I cant give a sound clip, the matrix #ST 12048 G7 means little to me and does not relate to the other side, the record starts of with a plane taking of sound and a female announcing the flight details It has been in my collection for 20+ years do you know it? DAVE KIL
  7. Hi Soulsters:- DESCISION TIME?? A few days ago i was really shocked to here the News that Dave Rivers Original member of the the London area Rare SOUL discoverers had a Hart Attack & Big Frank (Frankie Baggott) Wolves & Twisted Wheel Brother. Also Marge Rimmer who had sadly passed away, and all the people who have got into financial difficulties through bad health issues or unemployment and so on. :- This is not only a time to reflect, it's a time for positive action! On what do you do with your collections if sadly you pass away or your Life style changes, as mine has over the last 6 months, this question I have found troublesome and I no that there is a difference of opinion around this subject, the first point is relatively straight forward if you have implemented and already made a WILL good on you, however a lot of us myself included have not and any discussion on this was made in the good times and romantic in structure not practicable for those who we leave behind as my partner Marie views the scene with great suspicion and relates my drug addiction issues to it (not the people but the scene)however she does know the right people personally to talk to about what happens to all my Records, My concerns over who knocks at the door and views the collection has been covered as I told here that whoever it is will try to Cherry Pick or Rabbit on about demand,Condition, NOC, and so on to cut down on there buying costs, so I have made sure that my closest friends will take care of this Mick Smith being one of the 2. However as stated this is based on a pass away in my sleep type situation? not the unable to work situation or the Financial circumstances that have come about from ill health or unemployment and off course separation/ I would love to no your opinions on this topic? and I have a stubborn attitude as I have sold 3 collections before. And this time it would be totally impossible to start again! DAVE KIL.
  8. yes all OOTP they were obtained from a stall at the back of the tram shed, however i cant remember "just like the weather on a white label" are you sure?? - this is one of the best as not only Anne M & Marline Jones (Bentilee SoT) have their purses stashed with cash from the 8000 Dex I sold but more memorable was finding Rocky Roberts on a UK label which is in a UK Soul collection and has been since 75 fact Leeds 74 the very best of any ISC events DAVE KIL JUST READ POST AGAIN MISSED THE BIT ABOUT ON GREEN OTOOP,
  9. This is a typical late Dave Godin type Sound very Rare sort of Arron Nevile/Metors influanced Northern Soul? Does F all for me it's appeal is what sad mug is gonna buy the thing sounds like it was recorded in a Alabame KFC we BRITS Dont do this type of Soul it's Rubbish with Extra ISHIS on the end "You Know What I Mean" DAVE(It's Rubbish I Tells You)KIL
  10. BUT IS IT RARE? Pete it's a Good one thats for sure a few $$$$ on this EP So its Local Midlands Fodder from Niel R what a good geezer he is. thats SORTED CHEERS EARS DAVE K
  11. Nice one I shall raise my titfer respect, I never got to Sheffield until the 7ts and Samantha's John (BOY) Vincent, one of the very best venues off all time, so Was the Mojo by all accounts the question is what makes a venue great like both those mentioned it cant be a people thing or even a DJ thing Like the Torch 10 what was the magic formula that makes a good night special, I remember thinking this at Wigan when Jr Walker was on to others it was the night Betty Right was on and again unplanned and ad hoc Major Lance dueting with Tommy Hunt now that's a tape I would like to hear DAVE KIL.
  12. Hi Soulsters on UK EBay there is a seller advertising A Goldmine Test Press GS2004 he had it up for £60 last week, and this week it's at £40:- That's not my issue as I have this record and GS2003 TIMMIE & the PERSIONETTES, Along with around 60 other Blanx from 7N's Soul City and other reissue labels, now it was not until 2 weeks that I played a few of them and I have had these for ages from Mick S and never spinned them? what a surprise I had LONNIE LESTER Wow memories of the Howard Mallet 74 ish with Tony Deller playing this along with Joe Hicks Stanley Mitchell (the Sea Cadet Hall).. Babara McNair.. Silhouettes "Not me Baby" the reason I have them are UK releases not Bootlegs My Value on them was £5-£10 each but both the 2 GS2003/4 apparently were not issued and are rarer as even though I have about 100 Rare Soul CDs from Goldmine & Kent again hardly played just bought cheap from John & Malcolms Shop, so enlighten me on these well produce records, and especially on the following 3 Jay Traynor-"up and over" classic b/w Johnny Sayles, Steve Mancha "he stole the love" 1 side again 100% pure Northern Soul CLASS, and a 4 track EP with the Group & 3 other early Goldmine ??got of Mr Hollsworth(the GRANDMASTER), he knows his records, years ago at Black Horse?? And a unrelated Question the valuation of this Classic 2 sider I know it's over £300 Rare Wigan Casino 45 £££ "DTHEDRUG POLL" DAVE KIL.
  13. Hi Soulsters especially those who have creative minds!..This could be the latent start of what I believe to be the same desire that the Writer/Editor/Producers of Fanzines must of dreamed of when creating material that they believed at the time they realised that there was a gap in the market where certain information that they had gathered over the years was not lost in the manure of time?.. A few days back in a article Pete S informed a member of the meaning of the rubber # stamp on 6ts DECCA labels was all about..this took me back nearly 40 years and triggered of the feelings of enlightenment and my increased knowledge base and also the individual who told me this info made me even more to collect 45s and as such the Sage to Student relationship started and it is this knowledge sharing that is the backbone of the very essence of the Rare SOUL Scene, as we all have our own personal Sages and the Scene has it's top Sages even if you never met them or were 2 young their Names are so familiar to us All and so much so some of these well known names have taken on PANTOMINE roles as Good Guys or the Bad Villain if I say "Alan Day & TORCH" Vs "Ian Levine DJ" what do you think? it is just the same if you say the word "Vietnam" if you auto thoughts are of WAR and not of a modern and Beautiful Country as the War finished over 30 years ago and your opinion is contaminated and biased to USA Hollywood's interpretation of GOOD against BAD and the issues of FACT Vs FICTION if not put into context or documented as History of our Sub-Culture that we covert with a passion, so much so it scares or confuses the new people of the Scene hence no young blood as the patronage of the Soul Scene has become dictatorial and right wing almost anti-social and unwelcoming and strong element of Dictatorial Capitalists who are unchallenged in what you here and don't here?? Over the last few years like Swish and a few more like minded people it has been a personal desire to write a book about my troubled life which has been clothed in the youth sub cultures from the late 6ts into the early 7ts under a working title of "more than SKIN Deep" the book was not about just Photos alone but what lay behind the picture? in other words try and put the picture in correct context? It still baffles myself and if you no better but the History of the period 68 to 74 seams to myself already and deliberately omits the the working class Youth Sub Cultures that I am speaking of all you see is the Middle Class students of France and the UK getting beaten up Tariq Ali and so on Marc Bolan Glam Kensington Market Sasha & Biba and then its Prog Rock and Punk Rock all reference to the 68 to 71 Skinhead is omitted or there are the familiar clips from the TROJAN film on the Wembley Concert of Jamaican Reggae (the story on that film is a good one as the whole film is very Rare ask PeteR as he is one of the few with it??) To conclude this thread should be achieved and I for one will be very happy in helping it manifest into reality with SOULSORCE DAVE KIL "Wot A Wonderhul Place"- "where are all the septics gone"©2009
  14. If you are serious go to a Uni that has its own Faculty for Art & Design blag yourself into the Deans office talk to him about Post modernist retrospective facets formulating from 6ts modernism in metamorphosing into 7ts uniformed unpractical fashion of glam..deflect the attention away from the obscene middle classes into a sub culture that can only have survived on the banning of advertisement's not the mixed tongues of chines whisper but into a world of matrix were the 6ts word plastic meant false but vinyl was gold and through osmosis the creation of the worlds undisturbed subculture that for long geverty only the stench of the Hells Angels Hog seat can rival the perfume of the urinals in Wigan Casino and we have chosen your media student to collate and clip for the 50th anniversary of the first recognised soul All-Nighter the Scene, he will be like putty in your hand a bit like the young girl who is orgasmic at the prospect? Or you could just say can we borrow you stuff to make a movie in fact make a movie about these blokes who meet up from creating the concept of making a movie it could be a modern Carry on the Soul scene or "more than SKIN Deep"© the Movie, I think i should leave my pickle onions and whelk sarnies tonight Dave(the nutter)Kil
  15. Hi TOBY Thanks for the comments as you are well aware even though I have lived in WOLVES 30 years I still miss everyone from them Days as going to All- Nighters back in the 7ts was very hard work, up until the Peterborough St Ives and even Samantha's and the 2 Cleethorpes venues opened Just around the time of this Photo and it made things a bit more handy not just for the Letchworth crowd but for all Lovers of Rare SOUL /Northern Soul in the 3 counties in Bedford & Cambridge Crowds, But as Mick has Always stated I am Pure Wigan Casino by that he means if a Record starts with Bells Vibes or Slay Bells and it is over 80 MPH I would buy it? where the Mick Smiths of the Scene are pure Blackpool Mecca & Torch and in Micks Case a MOD through and through were I am Boot Boy (Skinhead) through & through- Your remarks are Kind and the strange thing I still call you all the Kids when I am talking about every one from Letchworth and Taffy still calls me DAD strange that and even Andy C for some unknown reason I seem to include him s one of the Kids why as he is my age beggars belief Properly because he has not got the Cockney traits of Mick & the Wild Wide Boy Aggression of the Kilworths??(ferrell), The Film is with Tom who I last met with in Mcdonalds 20 years ago and I told him to get the film put on Video and as far as I no it is the only movie film taken at the Casino, unless someone on here states other wise and as for requests about Photos from 67 to 75 most photos were the ones from booths on a strip, and also in that period of time the majority of people on the Northern Soul Scene came from the same type of background Working Class and to be seen with a Camera would of been like saying you were Gay back then & even Ian Levine could not do that as it would be a Kicking, this was only 2 years or so from the 67 act and we were all bigots then as we were all kids? Hence my right up on Drugs which is a good link to Charlie Frost as he was one of the few people who did not use any Drugs at all, And the Flat was owned by Joe Maylin, can you remember me breaking into the chemist near buy and my lookout bottled it and there was I casualty doing the place what was his name he lived in the fleets in Leys Avenue that Taffy lived in?? Toby I was going to Kettering on the Weekend but I really have had a bad time over the last 2 years and my health and more recently finances have been screwed up big time and at 58 I have become a recluse Paul M told me to go but this sounds soft I don't want to go if I don't recognise anyone that's how bad I have become stupid ain't it anyway Micks in Wolves Saturday Record fair time I will see him and he will advise me as he knows all about the sh*t that's gone on My LOVE TO YOU ALL and ALSO TO THE BEDFORD & CAMBRIDGE PEOPLE DAVE KIL
  16. Hi I can confirm it as i shot a lot of it I have said this before, it was taken on the night of England this England, unfortunately,All the Letchworth Crowd had a Premier night that also included the Mexican Taxi Driver from Stotfold..The film is in.******>? it's down to Tuff ? it's a very rare and unique and lots of balcony r/h side looking at Kieth and ? each spool is 20 Min's long & there's also Mug shots. I would love to see it as for some reason I missed the night properly in HMP HOTELS, but somewhere in the Garden City there is real Super 8 Film of the Casino also we are all over the thing the red record box still got it Dave(The Director)KIL The Kids & Me ©Taff
  17. Hi this is such a topical subject it should have its own special section on Record maintenance so all the tips are kept together? I like your idea and it sounds good but I can foresee 2 problems as I have done this method myself in the past. (1) Your mds has to be modified by taking in allowance for the raised area of the LPs label 4" as this will prevent true flatness. (2) is the temp of the water like fire to much heat can burn and as I have stated before there is a warp and there is a pinch warp the later is caused by heat in one small area of about 1/4" and can wreck and often does a record permanently no matter what you read it can not be remove to look like new as its against the laws of physics? the correct Temp as a guide is 1 minute after boiling point very hot but not Boiling Hot as this will scald the record and yourself. the best way I have achieved with 12" records is with a power shower on Hot and Fast spray the record starting about 2'6" from shower head do both sides completely turning regally every 15 second hold the record in palms 180* apart and do a Rolf Harris on it turnover an rotate 90* and Rolf it again repeat this but get closer to the shower head and once you get the technique of the wibble wobble (Rolfing) this will work all you have to do is (3) as you do the Rolfing the warps will go but if you are not careful they can come back if you don't place on your MDF jig it only has Tobe 1 sided for most warps and put it straight on and palm it down with both hand 180* apart moving around the vinyl quickly at 45* a time be very quick when doing this third process as the final temp will soon set (3) b If you think its flat and true after the Rolfing just dash (immerse) it in cold water to FIX, Give it a go Tips by Dthedrug be careful and always tell an Adult when messing around with Hot water. DAVE KIL.© dthedrug2009
  18. Surely you must have a Tape of early 75? in fact I bet out there almost every time I was at the Casino at least 6 tape machines were always next to the speakers with Someone from Medford or Cambridge looking at the time all night long in a repetitive action well suited to the chemicals inside his/hers Body & Soul ain't there a play list in one of the myriad fanzines or books or even Dear Frank Elsons Note Pad? Q for Mr FRANK ELSON to inform us all as it was his job to do this kinda thing 2nd call for FRANK ELSON .... I am sure Gary Lewis was still being played or was it Kieth DAVE KIL....Someone give Frank a nudge please...
  19. BELIEVE IT OR NOT NO i PROBELY HAVE 10 FORION SINGLE AND THEY AFRICAN RECORDS BY FELA KUTI VERY NICE THOUGH I remember finding the LP in Davids Book shop in Letchworth in 72 and when I put it on I remember thinking it was crap,in fact it,s got to be only in the past 5 years that I have listen to SKA Nosey Rubbish with some exception Jamaican Women doing Duets with the Alpha man, but Rock steady and it metamorphosis into Reggae Dance tunes I was in the Hole Club smoking Bush and this Jamaican said why little white boy come here you don't no what reggae means which was true as know one told me that the music I was hearing was at the same time Jamaicans were hearing it but at 16 you are not taking in that knowledge you are living a whole cultural change Al Capone that's the stuff, they used to play the Gaylads "Lady in the red Dress" at the Wheel; DAVE KIL
  20. No I am not Just enjoyed lookig at your list ,very good DAVE KIL
  21. Its many years since I sold this tune at the Vic in Wolves I had 5 copies at !st glance it looks right the blue label look a bit bright but that does not make it any rarer At 1 st glance I will go for real one Is worth a lot more than the £10 I sold them for. DAVE KIL .....Right I have not seen the record but there can always be a answer I say Original Not a boot and with that much info in the dead wax if it was Snide it would be counterfeit if it is on this site by Wednesday you should be able to of located who and when also how many and why did I find out in 2010 DAVE(Don't get mugged Kids)KIL
  22. Your Statement is actually a good point but as you say a few more years left , depending on your definition of few it would progress in 2 ways as a current black music scene HIP to HOP BREAK REE WIND! and Jack your body or what Ian & Colin were doing with pop Disco Hi Energy which helped the Gay scene Really Develop However would this approach save the Casino as the place burnt down?? so what is your view realistically and not imaginary DAVE( DO I CARE) KIL
  23. NICE ONE, CLASSIC RETORICAL REBUFF STARTING WITH THE WORD "BUI" IT WOULD OF GOT YOU 100% IF YOU STARTED WITH "HOWEVER DAVE" ask yourself as I was of me nut all the time?? A real Blockhead "Wot a Waste" HOWEVER I Will give it some Thoughts If I can find any DAVE KIL "It takes 2 to Tango" BRILL,
  24. Hi I stopped going to the Casino think it was March 78 and the place had really changed over the 5 years I will have a go, the first thing I must say the big issue for me was the love of stimulants and being a night "OWL", (I recently spoke to a consultant Psychiatrist in Addiction and we had a debate about stimulant addiction he spoke the same old rhetoric of it being a CBT issue, well I no through my own usage it is more addictive than Heroin as most stimulant users may abstain from their usage for 3 - 6 months when a opiate user finds this a impossible thing to achieve however if he/she is ready over the Ame period of time 6 months they have become very much in control (I despise the terminology CLEAN0 as it suggest that Drug users are Dirty or unclean and SMACK head Is another term that makes me wanna Pu>>.. lights out) any way this approach led to drug centres not PX Dex-amphetamine the consequence of this negative approach has a big impact on those who like myself suffer from chemical dependency and have to retort to Using Speed, back in 78 the powder used was crap up North Either Speckled or Pink which always was a indicator of Boric acid in its manufacture making more like MDA or MDMA which made into tabs and put a Dove on it created a twisted version of our scene Northern Soul Scene I remember in 75 Buying a couple of Hundred Blues (if you are a lot younger than myself, Drugs on the Soul Scene Mod scene and later Bovver Boys all came from one place and that was a clean Hygienic factory 1 in Notts and the other in Welwyn G C the SK&F factory was situated next to the Shredded Wheat Factory between the 2 companies the other being RIKER they supply a generation of colorful well dressed Bespoke working class with a few Ox-bridge types thrown in right up to 74, With Pills and Capsules, all the Caps had time release doses they are known as spansuals so Dexedrine would be in 5mg Tab but the 10 to 20 mg were in caps of different colors so 10 mg was Brown and clear 20mg was green and clear with SK&F on them, and the big one from there factory was Meathadrin¢Å¾¢ came in 1 gram phial tasted foul but for 5/- you were zooming and Riker made the Duraphat product that were Mose suited to most of us back then as they were Drimanal a chemical that included Amphet & Barbiturate a very addictive Drug) my point is by 78 it had been nearly 4 years that these factory drugs wee produced and in 76/7 the only factory manufactured Amphet was Dexedrine and its cousins some really nasty one Dthedrug)apps for period heavy flow and of course a little Hooter Pal the Benzedrex Nose inhaler brokenapat ripped up a swallowed, and I no theres a lot of you know what I am talking about, However it was due to this non manufactured in favour of Benzos and Ronnie Reg were locked up and we know that they would never sanction drug manufacturer but they had gone and the underworld (the Real one in London) paid our Ox bridge Mods to recruit under Grads to manufacture Sulphate that why from Huntingdon to Royston you could smell Cats Piss? but unfortunately the good stuff only reached the all niter cut to bits and in 76 we had a big bust on the M1 that had a big follow on impact and in 77/8 you had your Punk Rockers using all the speed in the Vortex Roxy and the 100 club? so along with the 9Times out of 10 or Joe 90 it must have been awful pretending that Wigen was like the early days and not comparable to the Cats Torch Wheel I will add all the Mecca's & Top Ranks Tiffanys from Streatham to the Royal to Stevenage Mecca the dot in Cambridge the Legendary California Ballroom In Consta noon Afterable the small pubs and chicken sheds of Bedfordshire Northamptonshire in to Leicestershire you all eat the whole lot So I am saying it was because it was a youth culture by the time I was 25 the 10 years that were my adolescence would last a life time, and still with Drugs DAVEKIL I Do "FULL STOPs" You have A go?
