  3. Hi Pete who did discover this one? or do you mean who bought it to the attention of Rare Soul DJs The same goes for Tony Middleton this I heard for the first time on a John Anderson LP, I had a Paradox in the mid 7ts along with Johnny Grey "Boopy" inst- more like BOOBY however I still include it with my Polydors as I am sure it has a Pirate Radio connection, I think the best Instrumental on the label is :-Mike Cotton Sound "Like That" b/w "Harlem Shuffle" which is also good Polydor#59096 have not got a clue about prices of these records apart from Johns record guide- which would be better if he had a *****rating system along with his guesstimate valuation? For example Tina Tots Cover of "Burning in the background of life"PYE #7N 17823... First issued by the New Formula PYE #7N 17552 (pop) but still in collection. My Point is I still believe its just lucky if you own records that others become aware of and they get big, as say "wide awake in a dream" or Glen Miller, I was just lucky to have them when they went big? but I cant say I discovered them, in the way like your Ben Brown Discovery on Polydor, Do you get me drift??? DAVE
  4. I sold (the Late) Pete Lawson Jack Montgomery Demo for £100 at Keele. It was cracked 3/4 the way around the label clean as a whistle I wonder if he repaired it and sold it on as the record was mint? So if your demo come from Pete check as it gotta be out there somewhere??? DAVE KIL
  5. Hi as a buyer and not a seller I would advise you to put a notice Informing the buyer that Payment must be received in 7 Days or Items will be re listed and your name put on Soulsoure as poor buyer?.. you could start a link for this purpose, it,s not unlawful to do a name & shame list if you state the action in your add, Since I have used EBay I have paid for my items i a average of 12 hours, I always get good feedback, but their are some dealers who take there time posting up to 4 weeks and even though they have had my money don't leave any feedback? and the pits are the dealers almost demanding that you give feedback to them before they give yours, these people have sussed me now as a quick payer i leave negative feedback I do the Aggro not them, Get Tough Man and stop poncing about. and GOOD LUCK DAVE(100%Feedback) KIL

HI YES OF COURSE I DID, As a Kid once I got out of the Kids homes/Approved School set up, the WEST END & SOHO, was where I felt secure most, right up to today if you know London's WEST END next time you are there spend 15 minutes sitting on a bench in SOHO Square or watch the traffic on TYBURN come from the Edgware road around Marble Arch into Park Lane the weak to Oxford Circus turn into Regent street take the 1st left into SOHO just wander about pass the Palladium memories of Sunday night telly also it was followed up with the Beverly Hillbillies if you walk parallel to Regent Street you will enter Carnaby St you can pop into the MERC and have a nice coffee in the precinct.. by the time you have walked the SOHO Street, You will see streets with familiar names Beak St Brewer Street (home of SQIRES) Seville Row, Old Compton Street with its GAY Scene that is so familiar today but in 67/8 it was all different even the way they spoke was a art form I got Razord in the La Douce Club by GAY Skinheads they came from HENDON there are some famous photos of them standing around a massive lamp post.there were a few all-nighters back then that were just empty rooms with a coffee bar and Juke Box, WARDOR Street buzzed all night the Marquee use to shut at 11.30pm but not far away you could smell the Bush, and you had to look the part as the Pink Flamingo was right in front of you, the fist thing that always happened a white geezer who looked like Peter Cook would ask me if I had any "Dubes" and then to Jamaicans would say are you staying All Night if so Caps are 3 for Half a Crown and blues are 6d each but you gotta by at least 2/6d I can remember a bloke from the Angel he used shout 1 for 9d 4 for Half a Dollar as you went in the Flamingo the heat and music along with the Colly & Bush made the atmosphere down the stairs and you perked all night, the club was a bit like the CATS wolves & the Twisted Wheel Club on Whitworth Street, certainly there was not a lot of difference the 2 clubs with 1 exception the Wheel had A FEW JEW BOYS and the Flamingo Had Jamaicans we use to call them Rude Boys or SPADES as they use to hustle Evey body especially in the Bog (sound Familiar) I remember the night Billy Stewart was on a spade called Ricky made me hand over my watch, he looked at it and gave it back to me sucked his teeth and uttered TIMEX, when you left the club 5 to 6 am that's when it shut you hit the London air and made your way to the Dilly but I used to go down Gerrard Street and you could buy China White the of to the Dilly if you were lucky you could buy an amp of methedrine for 5 Bob or use the CHINA, but you had to get a works from the 24 hour Boots on the Circus, and go to the Underground Bogs, Back then there used to be sheets of IZAL tissue stuck down the centre glass section of the bog door this was the cottaging section you would fix the China and make your way up the Totenham Court Road till it joined the Euston Road and make for Kings X often I would Nick a Scooter to get me home or a Mini you could Nick a Mini in 30 seconds just lean against the driver Door windows so they would unlatch go to the fuse box under the bonnet put a 3d bit in between the fuses close the bonnet get in the mini give the steering wheel a sharp tug to snap the lock press the button on the floor and away you went Did I go to the Flamingo? 7. AS I SIT HERE AT 3am checking e-mail doing some posting. I have my electric stratocaster on my knee, and for the last 2 hours just been jamming the blues scales E & D switching rhythms from Delta to Chicago blue and into R&B and REGGAE, its easy simple and you can play all-night if you want to all R&B from the early Blues through to HIP HOP and even To-Days Soul is all basically the same a Beat & Rhythm whoever made that statement knows nothing worth knowing as R&B is all popular music? Liston to Fella Kuti and you all will understand that R&B means FUNK DAVE KIL "I Woke up this Morning, and I think I will brush my Teeth. yes I woke up this morning,"Good Morning BLUES
  8. Hi Pete a bit late 1.30am, but your foam is similar to the Whiteboard Conditioner & Renovator -150ml spray can approx £2.50, in computer shop on Birmingham New Road near Post office these small shops are really good and much cheaper than PC Land (just in case)? The Label well how many times have you picked up a record and if it ha a minty label you assume the record plastic to be the same only to find out that the vinyl is in sad way, well I think between us we know how to get the best result out of the vinyl?.... But when it comes down to cleaning products & vinyl as long as the product is not toxic, However our labels are so sensitive, my advice if its ORANGE OR RED keep cleaning products away, And your Silver polish is not what I was thinking of someone keeps on contacting me on msn? DAVE

  13. Hi Pete that's the second time its been booted the 1st is on UK SOUL CITY by Dave Godin, as he had only the rights to use the Star and that was for LP use only, Hence it,s Rarity as it was recalled within 12 days by PHILIPS, and all the copies that you see come from Soul City Shop, just when all things started to happen for him, This issue was the start of the demise? of the label, Sue and Island had been getting away with LP only trax for a few years Dave tried it once and got caught out, if you take a look at UK releases after that release and only the PALMER BROS issued dodgy records allegedly through there Copy Control & Jet-star set up? DAVE
  14. Hi All, Can someone clarify this question as up until 1 hour ago I had never noticed this issue, Early ATLANTICS used to be on the London Label & the London Label acknowledged that on the label hence LONDON-ATLANTIC. In 64 Atlantic as a label in it,s own right started with #4001 the Drifters "Under the Boardwalk" - #402 Bobby Darin - #4003 the SKA Kings "Oil in my lamp" c/w "Jamaica SKA" - #4004 Solomon Burke "Every Body". My question is about the DEMOS of these records< as #4004 is a Yellow DECCA type ATLANTIC DEMO, but #4003 is a LONDON-AMERICAN DECCCA type DEMO? as I do not have #4001/2 could any one explain (a) are they on LONDON-ATLANTIC or ATLANTIC, ( Why such a big company like DECCA who issued many hundreds of DEMOS did not get a new label together at the launch? and © Why or how come there are so many anomalies on both labels ie: Lou Johnson DEMO London/Monument, Ben E King Atlantic #4065 Test Pressing??? DAVE KILQ: WHAT IS THE THIRD LETTER OF THE ALPHABET? Is (a) B,(b)C,or © A
