Hi Ted I really don't understand the issue of should I or shouldnt I play a record, especially a record that is sung soulfully has a classic beat and rhythm and the breaks at the right spot as mentioned to get the dancers moving and that is the problem as I see it as you may be aware I don't get about to much these days but if the scene has turned into some numbing mind bending conversation on the playing of a great classic and in its rarest example know wonder it is full of old age grumpy people and new blood does not attend when I first attended the dance hall scene every one looked old? in reality they were in there early 20s if I had hear ed soul sounds and gone in a club and the youngest person there worked behind the bar I don't think even the best tunes would keep me there? Now I am not saying we are to old far from it, what I am saying is that tunes such as the Leslie Uggams track filled the dance floor! here's a question when was the last time you went to a wedding function or a 18/21st Birthday as you will see all the girls dancing and singing the words to the Motown / soul spot that Dave double decks is spinning? if you need a reason or to justify (not you Ted) records to play it states one thing and that is well over 3/4 of the DJ should retire in the next few weeks and find younger keener people to DJ and let some other collectors have a chance this is why you are a good DJ as you have always been an avid collector Ted so you are the right man it,s those DJs who have fleeced the soul scene dry who walk around as if they were a personality and the scene belongs to them? as far as I can see these people will continue to dictate until we are all dead, so for all the DOGs out there who did not recognise my selection at least 95% of it and have a vinyl collection of under 1000 or you have DJ living on a reputation from the 7ts clubs Dave Kilworth says "MOVE OVER ROVER & LET NEW BLOOD TAKE OVER" all you Torch goers what if you turned up and the place was full of Chris Burtons, or at Wigan Gary Marshal tried to do a spin and a backdrop??? my suggestion is take a look at our black brothers and sisters young and old together and there's many a time I have seen younger kids still up and about gone 12 o clock so lets chill out if you have a tune and you think it should be played play it as for the older people I am referring to after 35 years you have been hoping those decks far to long and as I found out a few weeks ago Ted there is a geezer from Coventry who I feel with your support would love to make a go at doing a spot or two. he is knowledgeable but needs to be with a mentor such as yourself? I apologize if any one is offended but there is younger blood out there who are into Soul as the record goes "LOVE IS A GOOD FOUNDATION" clap! clap! by the way it is Scotty's fault as he thought I was Joking about New Years Eve even though a big head was there Billy Bullsh**er? Go on Ted play the record or give it to Dave & Louise with love from me DAVE(WHATS BILLYS NAME? "PUS" NO IT WILL COME TO ME)KIL

  10. You are right however the story goes like this:- my 1st Rare record box was stole when I left it with Brian R 76, in May 78 qut the scene as it was the only way to get clean left my records with Mick (inc Nolan Chance £1.75 from John A)so he could pay my debt with Adey after I spent his money on drugs I know. only kept the "WALK WITH A WINNER"I got from Pete Wid at Wigan 77. In 82 I had lived in wolves for 3 years and met no one from the 7ts the rest of my collection sold to Mick £350 so I could take me kids on holiday, a few months later ADEY started KENT LABEL I was in HMV in WOLVES and I saw the LP FLOOR PACKERS and the listings were all records that i had once owned so I started to collect again and going up the Vic it did not take long to get a decent collection back also I got some stock of Mick the Sam Dees AC Reids and so on? i also started my UK collection again did a couple of DJ spots for Esher at the 86 Club however my old problem came back in a big way.. on the day Big Phil S passed he came to see me as he needed to score I told him I had nothing, this was not true but all I had was for me, the next day I heard the news that he went to the Goal post and got home and Died in the Bathroom, as such I got registered again but for DEX 50 mg Daily and this stopped me buying it also stopped me DJing as I did a bit at the Black Horse once again sold records except the UK stuff following years the only places i would go was if MICK took me hence the 100 club was not on the list... in the last 6 months things have started to get worse again but I cant get any primary help but the records are going no where. and the ones from you and Louise are just the classics that i used to own? hence i have no Hoagy Lands but I could of got it from Mick any time if you get my drift. All this stuff will be in my book "MORE THAN SKIN DEEP" a Dark look at life? that I would do the same if I could do it again especially up to 45 DAVE(OI! OI!)KIL

  12. JO WILKES WAS PRETTY TASTY IN THE MOD SENCE AND HE HAD A GOOD REPUTATION AND LEGS USE TO HAVE A WHEEL CHAIR? BACK IN 68/9 WE USED TO GO TO THE DOT IN CAMBRIDGE THIS IS IN THE BOVVER BOY PERIOD AS IN LETCHWORTH THERE WAS NOTHING, SO TRAVELING TO PLACES WAS COMMON PLACE FOR ME AND THE TRAIN RAN FROM CAMBRIDGE TO KINGS CROSS SO ANY WHERE WAS EASY TO GET TO, HOWEVER MOST TIMES I WOULD USE MY SCOOTER A TV 175 SERIES 3 FAST NO IT WAS REALY FAST, JOE WAS A GOOD SUPLYER OF CAPS AND WELL KNOW BY MY COUSEN MARIA AND JOAN BRADSHAW AS THE HAD HANDBAGS FULL OF BLACK AND WHITES THAT THEY GOT OF HIM AFTER A FEW FIGHTS WITH THE CAMBRIDE LADS IN 699/70 WE MADE PEACE AT THE GRANADA SERVICES ALONG WITH THE LUTON HEMEL HATFIELD CROWD BUT THE CREW FROM LETCHWORTH& HITCHIN HAD THE HARDEST REPUTATION AND ALWAYS WERE THE TOP CREW AS EVERY ONE WAS A VILLAN AND NEVER BOTTLED IT, I MET GOERGINA A FEW YEARS LATER AT WIGAN I THINK? AND I HAVE FORGOT HIS NAME HE CAME FROM EITHER CHERRY HINTON OR SAWSTON A GREAT COLLECTOR WHO IWATCHED THE 75 CUP FINAL WITH WEST HAM V FULHAM ALSO WE TAPED GET OUT BOB KUBEN FOR A EMI DISC BUT HIS NAME???SMALL WORLD? 18. Happy New Year to all my readers:-The ED Hi Just thought I would put up a few list addresses from the mid 7ts I have some early ones somewhere but the best were from Contempos lists always at the back of B&S which was the equivalent to the inner net in its early days don't you think I have not got a Carlos Bedford or REDERFUSION in Notts and I don't think MOORES did a list, As for Simon he lived in the Leicester shop I used to get free records from them and the Black Magic stuff also the cloth badge for black magic are all fake unless you got them direct as they were sent out to DJs DAVE THE BLADE The Phoenix news letter is free to you all for NEW Years DAY to read.XXX to you all

  22. HI Ya as they say UP NORTH! THE GIRL FROM WOLVERHAMPTON DOES UK PROUD - I think that her choice of songs let her down personally as most are forgettable and this would be my criticism OK she has played it safe and she is a star however she should co write songs to suit her style also if she does covers record like Stormy come to mind, if you compare her to other female UK singers she rate high but on hits if you compare with past stars you would remember the songs PP Arnold & Doris Troy went by with only 1 minor hit each all be it they ware classic? that's what Beverly lacks not having 2 to 3 classics in the can, I don't think I have met Beverley however I have net her Dad and his a true Gentleman also I worked with Westley the writer of her first hit "MOVING ON UP" (on the right side) a great bloke, and also her cousin DIANE who is better looking than Beverley and that's a fact DAVE KIL

Hi I have just Looked at Johnny Manships Auction latest and as I have all the UK stuff apart from that Jelly Beans thing on PYE that does not do it for me as my Eskee copy is at home snuggled up to his mates, if i found it junking it would be different don't you agree? Any way I have not spent more than £50 on the others and that £50 was for 1 record all the others were cheaper..now you got to take on board time & rarity factors and include them into equation HAPPY NEW YEAR DAVE KIL
