Ain't No Soul
Also...people may wanna flip Ray Paige's version of ANSLITOS for a wonderful beat ballad of the highest order. Top notch, perfect example of the slower style of "Northern Soul" that more and more folks are appreciating nowadays. Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com

How Did It Get There!?
About 15 years ago was walking round an open air market market in Auburndale, Florida when we stopped to look at some Jack Russell pups that were for sale. The "stall" was a makeshift pet shop of sorts. Anyway , whilst we're looking I spies a buch of 45 on Coral Demos just lying there in a box. "How much for the 45s?" asks I. "50cents apiece" comes the reply. I duly paid the guy and took 17 demos (MINT) or Patti Austin's "Take Away The Pain Stain" back to Burnley Bank Hall Miners and sold 'em for a couple of beers each! How'd they end up there, still sleeved, minters too? No idea! Never even had a record stall on that market. Never has. Happy days. Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com

Pete, It's Jack Ashford and Joe Hunter with a few "guest" musicians (Ray Monette and a few others), and some younger talent that they have nurtured. They are supposed to be shit hot mate. They play to rave reviews here in the States. Hope this helps. Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com

Bankhall Miners,burnley
Hi Phil, Bank Hall . Miners was a great two roomer. The Boxing Day Alldayers were a good laugh. The place was bought by an Italian family (Who shall remain nameless, but a few on here will know). It then mysteriously caught fire! The Football Club sign you saw was probably for Longside FC (another great institution that is no more). They used the pitch that was out the back for a few years after the fire. The beer was especially cheap for Dave Comer as his future wife worked behind the bar, that's where they met. (Big queue when Dave went to the bar!) Have to say, I think the venue you've got now is also a great venue too. Had many a good night up there too back in the early 90s with Ginger et al. Gonna try and make it over in the New Year. Be good to "do" a niter in the old stomping ground. See you soon hopefully. Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com

Rarity Up For Trades
Plenty around. Demand is the price hiker here, not scarcity. Quite a few been sold in the last year or two but price always been high in relation to other, scarcer, 45s. Same story with Ruby Gold Token. Dozens around but always same price. You'll get one Tommy, just have patience Mate. Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com

Re-issues/bootlegs With Photostat Labels
I think Ady chose the format as a celebration of the 100 Clubs anniversaries Rod. It sure worked too. Instead of getting lost in the plethora of reissues/unissued stuff issues the 45s have become collectors items in themselves. Full sets are now the order of the day. Smart cookie that Horace!
