  1. Only about 4 hours left on these auctions now. Thanks for looking! :-)
  2. I bloody love that tune! Have to go dig it out because I haven't heard it for years! It was one of the first 25 or so key tunes that got me interested in exploring the world of northern soul in the first place!
  3. It's on 7th of February, I hope?
  4. "Summer In The Parks" is probably the choppiest and most changey record that I've ever heard played on the northern soul scene. It's got a very messed up song structure and is heavily syncopated. The reason you don't think of it as an out-and-out funk tune is probably because you know it so well and that it's been a part of the northern soul pantheon for such a long time.
  5. There's about 2 days left on these auctions.

Good price for the Sonny Munro issue! Usually sells for more in my experience.

  9. It was issued two times on PEARCE with different b-sides and at least 3 different designs, then it appeared on CLASSIC as well with the "second" PEARCE b-side. As far as I know the PEARCE 5818 is the first release and the one on CLASSIC is the last release. Have a look: PEARCE 5818 - Classmen - Doin' Me Right / The Things We Did Last Summer PEARCE 5823 - Classmen - Doin' Me Right / Graduation Goodby CLASSIC 5823 - Classmen - Doin' Me Right / Graduation Goodbye Looks like the label changed name from PEARCE to CLASSIC and kept the same catalogue number for the 5823 release.
  10. On 7"? Are they all different? Would love to hear the third version if so.
  11. Beware that there were two different recordings of this released as MOTOWN 1008. They sound very different. There are also some pretty convincing counterfeits/bootlegs of this around as well.

The album is available as a vinyl LP now: https://search.cartserver.com/search/search...erboy&go=GO! And he's also got two 7"s out: "Take My Love With You" b/w "Am I Just Fooling Myself" and "The Satisfier" b/w "It's Easier" Caught him live in Malmoe, Sweden a couple of months ago and he was awesome! Top stuff!
  13. Superb! I have made some changes to my list above.
  14. GREAT! Here is what I've found so far: BLUE STAR 400 - Jimmy Wonderful - Ain't Nothin' Shakin' Here / Tonight BLUE STAR 450 - Lord Jim & The V.I.P.'s - You Don't Have To Cry Any More / The Marlin BLUE STAR 1000 - Arin Demain - Silent Treatment / You Don't Have To Cry BLUE STAR 1000/1001 - Lefty Wright - I Don't Want Nobody Listen (If I Can't Have You) / Run Run Run BLUE STAR 1965 - Billy Storm - It's What's Happening, Baby / That Funny Feeling Pennsylvania label: BLUE STAR 229 - Vogues - You're The One / Some Words BLUE STAR 230 - Johnny Daye - I'll Keep On Loving You / One Of These Days Texas label: BLUE STAR 513 - Singing Ambassadors - Lord Hear My Plea / Beautiful Things BLUE STAR 514 - Singing Ambassadors - All I Have / Swing Low, Sweet Chariot BLUE STAR 515 - Singing Ambassadors - Look Around / What God Do You Serve Don't know where this fits in, it's from 1960: BLUE STAR 8001 - Dreamers - I Really Love You / You Made Me Darling
  15. The Lord Jim and Lefty Wright 45s are on the same BLUE STAR label as Arin and Jimmy. But as far as I know the Johnny Daye and Vogues 45s are on a different BLUE STAR label (from Pennsylvania). The Singing Ambassadors 45s are on what seems like yet another BLUE STAR label (out of Texas). Haven't seen the Billy Storm disc.

    These were issued in June 1959: Swinging Tigers - Snake Walk (part 1) / Snake Walk (part 2) - TAMLA 54024 Ron & Bill - It / Don't Say Bye-Bye - TAMLA 54025
  17. NICE! And here it is: Nice to clear up stuff like this. I don't know what the "JW2" on the Jimmy Wonderful label refers to. "Jimmy Wonderful 2" perhaps? Was there another Jimmy Wonderful 45 on BLUE STAR as well? JW2 might be the actual catalogue number. Or perhaps it says "JW1" on the flipside label?
  18. By the way, Arin Demain's "Silent Treatment" is also published by HEMISPHERE MUSIC so it would surprise me if the Jimmy Wonderful and Arin Demain 45s are not from the same label set-up.
  19. Jimmy Wonderful - Ain't Nothin' Shakin' Here / Tonight - BLUE STAR 400 There are two slightly different label variations of it:

As far as I know, these are the only Motown records that were issued in August 1959: Barrett Strong - Money (That's What I Want) / Oh! I Apologize - TAMLA 54027 Nick And The Jaguars - Ich-I-Bon #1 / Cool And Crazy - TAMLA 5501
  21. It was unissued at the time of recording, but was issued on a 7" (and CD) by the american label Numero Group in 2007. You can still buy the 7" from their homepage for $5. Check this out: https://www.numerogroup.com/catalog_detail.php?uid=00313
