  1. How about "Watch The People Dance" released as by Giles Strange on BOOM. It's the same bunch of people who did that. Both sides on that 45 are superb.

  5. Here are label scans for both releases: Sound effects issue: Non-sound effects issue:
  6. No, just different issues including different mixes of the tune. They were most likely both released the same year.
  7. I posted a soundclip just a couple of days ago here: /index.p...31775&st=76 The label is the exact same as the "usual" one, but with MD 1932 as the catalogue number instead of DM 1879.

Was just digging through some stuff for future eBaying and came across this nice white demo. Different tunes on each side, and a Weldon McDougal sticker!
  9. For sure not the "best" version, but it's not THAT bad. I mean, the tune is quite "wedding reception" to begin with. It's almost as if one would expect that you have something against Hall (& Oates)...
  10. It should perhaps once again be noted that there are TWO different versions of this tune released on 45. Exact same label design, but different catalogue numbers. One has got the sound effects which is also on the 12", the other one hasn't got the sound effects. The "non-sound effects" 45 seems to be very, very rare. The ususal one "should" be £10-£30 though.
  11. It's an eBay thing. Soundclip, properly listed and promoted. It usually goes for £15-£30 on eBay and from UK sellers. The one which just went for £100+ is not even the "rarer" non-sound effects version, it's the "usual" one.
  12. Just posted it in the Media Source section: /index.php?showtopic=36120 Enjoy.

One of the best deep soul tunes ever in my opinion.
  14. Eh... would just post a link to where you can download the MP3-file from on my server... it wouldn't impact how long it takes to open the actual SoulSource thread... or am i missing something?
  15. I'll give you £80 for Ivan Neville. A fair few copies gone for about $150 on eBay.
  16. It's UK-only on Jay Boy. Flipside is nice as well. Did you hear it on that 78-minute mix of mine which I posted on the Funk Forum? Perhaps should post up the mix here as well? Anyone interested?
  17. Yep, same guy. Those Pzazz releases were his last recordings. "Wild Is The Night", nice pounding, slightly left-field uptempo dancer. The b-side, "New Orleans And A Rusty Old Horn" is one of my all-time favourite ballads (also cut in an inferior version by Sonny Knight on Aura). A bloody hard 45 to locate. Just dug it out and noticed that I have two copies of it, not sure that I want to sell it though. By the way, Louis Jordan's entire Pzazz LP is quite nice as well.
  18. The Style Council version is in my opinion in an entirely different league and far, far superior. And I'm no big Paul Weller fan.

The EXTENSIVE liner notes to the two volume "Mirwood Story" CDs on Kent/ACE goes a long way trying to sort out this mess. Really informative liner notes and worth the price alone.
  21. It's a track by 100 Proof (Aged In Soul), issued on HOT WAX 7211 as "Since You've Been Gone".
  22. Sorry, don't have any further info... but looking a bit like these, I guess:
  23. I love the previously unreleased David Ruffin version of this and have been hammering it whenever I've been able to since it was released some 8 years or so ago. It's a fantastic track.
