Original: Counterfeit (pressed with different stampers):
  3. Dwight Franklin recently pressed up new copies of it. The recently pressed copies has got the matrix etchings scratched out. More info here:
  4. 25000 copies were pressed. Most of them were destroyed, but it is believed that about 100-200 copies slipped out.
  5. It's the other way around. It was much easier to manufacture a convincing counterfeit during the early-to-mid 70s because the production methods were similar to those during the 60s. But despite trying really hard, the bootleggers always got something wrong (the number of turns in the run-out or run-in grooves, the width of the playing surface, volume of the sound etc.). Another point is that a record that is only available on styrene quite simply can't be counterfeited these days, because there are no pressing plants left that make styrene records.
  6. Only one hour left on these auctions. Thanks for looking! :-)
  7. And you haven't noticed that the backing tracks are very similar?
  8. Have another listen, Pete. Both tunes have the same tempo and the backing tracks are, if not the same, then extremely similar.
  9. No, I don't think many will agree with you on that. You will not be able to find the right kind of plastic for the vinyl, the new mastering will be different, the paper for the label will be different, the printing style will be different etc. The only counterfeits of 60s records that have even come close to look and sound convincing I have ever seen were produced during the early 70s.
  10. There's roughly one day left on these auctions now.
  11. I agree, one of the most beautiful recordings ever in opinion.
  12. Yes. He was a session guitarist and played on loads of records as part of the Wrecking Crew. He's a fantastic guitar player (as well as singer obviously).

  14. Yes. The International Music Bag copies I've had sounds just as good as the INNOVATION II copies though (and the IMB copies are on vinyl, not styrene).

  16. You're ofcourse right, but I just want to mention that it did get a late 70s reissue on the red US Stax label (STAX 1037) so that people don't buy the reissue by mistake. Fantastic tune in any case!
  17. Toussaint McCall sings "Nothing Takes The Place Of You" in Hairspray (from 1988).
  18. Note that the styrene issue copies on KIMBERLY are bootlegs. The original KIMBERLY issue is on vinyl.
  19. 2-3 hours left on these auctions now. Thanks for looking! :-)
  20. Hope it's the record you're looking for when it arrives!
  21. It might be this 7" from 1970: Michael Brennan - First Day In The World Without Her / Mixed-Up Guy - CAPITOL 2898 I haven't heard it myself, but I know that the flipside is the tune written by Jimmy Webb which goes hand-in-hand with the Glen Campbell sound you mentioned.
