I know what you mean, but it sure seems to be in-demand (and that ofcourse pushes up the price regardless of anyones opinion on what a record was worth prior to it being in-demand). I sold a copy in July last year for $256 and Manship's two previous auction copies have sold for £92 and £137.
  2. Only about 2-3 hours left on these auctions now! Thanks for looking. :-)
  3. So... are the F&E and RCA releases different recordings?
  4. Yes, you're right. But it's still the second issue. As for the blue issue fetching more than the orange one, I'll put that down to lack of knowledge that it was the second issue.

If you do a decent google search you'll find that a copy sold on eBay a month or so ago: https://www.google.se/search?hl=sv&q=%2...3%B6k&meta= And as Gareth points out there is a copy listed on Gemm (I doubt if it's still available though...): https://www1.gemm.com/item/LOVEJOY--JAMES/T...A/GML122856117/
  6. It might be rarer on blue label, I actually don't know, but the orange label is the original issue and the blue label is the second issue.

From 1978 according to the RCA discography: James Lovejoy - Divide & Conquer / This Will Always Be My Baby's Tune - RCA 11367
  8. That's what I've heard, but would love to actually hear the record as well. Is it the exact same recording and just a different mix? Or a different recording?
  9. Can someone please post up a soundclip of the local issue? It's supposed to be a different version (or mix) than the RCA release. Would be great to hear it. All 4 songs on their two RCA 45s are good, so in my opinion the issue copies should be most desirable of both 45s. Or getting the LP.
  10. There's about 2 days left on these auctions.

Heat, or the 45 being placed in a stressing position during a lengthy period of time. Combine these two and you're in for disaster. To denote that the record is a "cut-out" copy (sold at a discounted price) and could not be returned to the store you bought it in or to the record distributor where the store got their records from. The same goes for the splashes of gold paint that can be found on the labels of many 45s.

Wow, didn't expect that sound at all. Reminds me more than anything of "Do Anything You Wanna Do" by Eddie & The Hot Rods. Which ofcourse is a good thing! Has got a very proto-powerpop / pubrock sound to it. If that was a cheap record I would've picked it up immediately. Wouldn't mind a "Shardarp" either...
  14. No, you never get charged by PayPal when you use their site to buy something. They do however charge you about 4% when you recieve money.
  15. KOKO 101 with "You Got To Give Love To Get Love" is one of the absolute rarest Luther Ingram 45s. Great pounding 60s dancer! Can still be had relatively cheap if you look around a bit. I have had 3 copies over the past 2 years, in wildly varying conditions, and they have sold for: $78.99 $227.50 $73.00 The version of "I Can't Stop" on the b-side is not the same recording as the later releases of that title. In fact I think there are 3 (or 4!) different versions of "I Can't Stop". Tony Rounce should have the full lowdown on this.
  16. Just found this elsewhere on the forum: "The Commotions - Sock it to me - RCA Custom acetate but recorded for Blue Rock...they did have a 45 on BR and are the same group who cut 'Motown' on La-Ro-Ke. This is a traditional in-your-face Northern stomper." AND "...best find was a RCA Custom acetate for Mercury Records by the Commotions called Sock it to me, same group who recorded for La-Ro-Ke & Blue Rock and I assume this to be an unissued Blue Rock track...its a traditional Northern dancer with some great horn breaks which really grabs you after a few plays..."
  17. Fantastic tunes.

Nice to see that Numero Group are so good at placing tunes from their "Eccentric Soul" compilations on major US TV-shows! A while ago George McGregor & The Bronzettes "Temptation Is Hard To Fight" (a Twinight recording) was used in an episode of "Mad Men" as well. I've also heard Kool Blues deep soul masterpiece "I Want To Be Ready" in an episode of "How I Met Your Mother" and Marion Black's "Who Knows" in an episode of "Weeds".
  19. I agree, the songs are definitely where it's at. But as for being a "soul singer", his voice sure leaves a lot to be desired. Have always considered him a pop/electro artist so that doesn't bother me much. His voice is good enough though. I'm a sucker for good melodies and the "Jim" album is full of them, I guess that's why I'm so fond of it. Daryl Hall singing these tunes... not that would've been something! Have to go dig out the "Abandoned Luncheonette" LP now...
  20. The entire "Jim" album by Jamie Lidell is superb in my opinion. One of my favourite albums of 2008 actually. Definitely check it out if you like "Another Day". Here's another good tune on the album called "Wait For Me": ">
  21. An amazing price for a styrene copy of that record. Congrats to the seller though!

You're absolutely right. Very nice scans! That scripted logo on the left side looks great, will try to track down one of those.

Have never seen that variation. Thought it was a mispress first, but the lettering is clearly positioned with having the Gordy logo on the left in mind. Nice find!
