  1. Second record is Patti Austin
  2. WIlson Pickett was covered up as Brother Louie Brown
  3. You're right Combinations was covered as The Chessmen, and Royal Esquires as The Embers
  4. Yeah, come on Pete, get it up for us modern boys
  5. I think it was late 79, when there was a shift from all 60's newies in Tricky's sets. He started playing new releases along side the 60's. Weren't Phyllis Hyman, Omni, Larry Houston, Daybreak the first of the 70's tunes that went massive? Ive got tapes somewhere of Searlings spots from very late Wigan, stuff like William Powell, Combinations and the first time he played The Exportations covered as The Quickest way out. He announced it as the best thing he'd ever played. How many times did we hear him say that? Gary Rushbrooke was on after him, he had some great tunes too, I'm sure he had William Powell as well, Sherlock Holmes and 'The two of us' was that by The ones or The Others, something like that. For me, that was the pinnacle for the music.
  6. Wasn't it covered up as Chester Pipkin?
  7. A couple of Blue eyed female vocalists Jackie Forrest - Show me how to love Vivian Carol - Yeah Yeah ( old Roddy Joy c/u)
  8. BJ Thomas - I don't have a mind of my own
  9. Ain't that a lot of love !
  10. Stop it, you're spoiling it now! There was some awful stuff played. I'm just trying to remember the good un's
  11. I remember it as a Russ spin, like you say a bit weird, but a big tune
  12. I think it was JC Messina that was covered as Bob Segar Band. Coincidentally, I've posted in Wigan forgotten monsters thread and mentioned JC
  13. J.C Messina - Time won't let me
  14. Short People - Why'd you put it to me baby
  15. Why don't you ask the crowds through the door, if in anyway, the enjoyment of the night was diminished, because a DJ played The Tomangoes off an RCA acetate? The vast majority of the people attending the Tower, don't give a flying f*ck what format it's played on, they go to dance and enjoy themselves.

Saturday nights were quiet, towards the latter days of Wigan. But, those last 2 years musically, in my opinion, was the pinnacle. Searling was at the top his game, fantastic 60's played back to back with new releases. Not forgetting Gary Rushbrooke, he had some great tunes too
  17. Yep, ordered my copy from County records Bangor High Street, when it was a new release. £1.75 I think. I've picked up a few copies since, for less than that though
  18. As much as I love birds and wildlife, I hate magpies. They patrol the hedges emptying nests of eggs and chicks. I've seriously considered buying an air rifle, since a magpie got a little Green finch chick off our feeder. Our neighbour has caught a few magpies, he uses a trap with a magpie from another area as bait.
  19. A powerful performance!
  20. Happy birthday Gladys without a shadow of a doubt, my favourite female vocalist ever
  21. They're beautiful. Which reserve was this?
  22. On the feeder today -
  23. I heard a Cuckoo the other day in Market Drayton. It's years since I've heard one. A rarity now!
  24. Keni Burke - Rising To The Top/Hang Tight
  25. Daybreak
