  3. Legend ! Torch, Tiffs etc, before my time. but my one (of two) memory, was at Alfreton " Torch reunion" Niter, early 80's......... i wandered to the DJ booth and requested the Tomangoes ! (i know i know). The look i recieved, said it all. The second, was buying my issue of Darkest Days, for £4 , in Station roads record bar. many happy returns KM

Fabulous record. one of those, that has always been there, always kept a dancefloor busy and always will . RIP lovely
  6. thats my point ... Daytripper, I'm a believer, Satisfaction, Born to be wild , all have a 4/4 back beat. so what makes WWGT a Soul record ? NOTHING, thats what .
  7. its very rare, agreed. doesnt make it a good record though. i appreciate your opinion, but to me it sounds like a 9 year old wrote it. very linear in structure, dreadful vocals and a sparse arrangement that was thrown together in a lunch break. Paul Anka ? Rubbish ! ( why is this even played at Soul events ?) Petula Clark will be commanding 3 figures soon. . . . . . . . . .
  8. William Powell .... jesus H i'm not sure whats the more stupid money.... Bobby paris, paul anka or william powell all three are shocking records. When we get there, is amongst the worst tunes ever played on the scene. sorry..... some folk have more money than taste
  9. California Montage

  14. as much as i admire Stevie Wonder. I just called & Isn't she lovely, have to be in the top 5 worst Motown releases. Isn't she lovely , reminds me of Hey Jude , Beatles..... repetitive garbage after 3 minutes
  15. i understand your thoughts on this. my pet peeve, is 'I walked away' - Bobby Paris.... bloody awful
  16. do you mean the UK 'Tamla Motown' label? it did start in 1965, prior to that, Motown records were released on Stateside, Oriole and Fontana. until EMI decided to give them their own label. Motown did start in 1959...
  17. Some are hard to get hold of. Nabay, Edward Hamilton, Larry Clinton, Duke Browner, Dena Barnes, Lester Tipton... all of those were tough
  18. if theres a sneaky Ronnie & Robyn out there, you have a buyer (you never know)
