  1. no shame in that. one of my all time fave tunes. Oddyssey were fab! i saw them in Nottingham one night, sung the words to every number they did
  2. I got a nice UK Island issue i could be tempted to part with.
  3. I like Charity Brown, i also like 'The Snake' , i like Frank Wilson, The Casualeers, etc etc. all GREAT records in their own right, mostly over played, but brilliant recordings. Like FW or not, theres no disputing that irresistable intro, then a huge rim shot brings the rhythm section in, superb record!
  4. anyone who lists Hoagy Lands as a fave, is ok by me
  5. WONDERFUL!!! I sang this at a karaoke bar in Bulgaria during a ski holiday in 1993....... EVERYBODY sang along to the chorus, it just proves that a classic song is known by all. thanks for posting this. i'm geuinely saddened by DG's passing..............

  7. very sad news. OOTF was the staple diet of us young lads in the hot summer of '76. a fine record indeed.... the 'off key' sounding piano melody was the hook that made the tune. Also, i contribute on a drummers' forum , where we had a thread on our 'fave lyrics' in a song.... my reply: "Gimme the beat boys and free my soul, i wanna get lost in your rock n roll and DRIFT AWAY" RIP

  10. Eddie, I may be interested if the original poster doesnt want the UK issue
  11. believe me mate. i'm no expert , but i'd wager the one with the 'machine' pressed stamp is an original'legit copy, whilst the other is a bootleg
  12. Well said Billy., my one and only comment on this matter
  13. Wigan Casino - Will Collins: Anything i can do Nottm Palais - Wolfman: Strange Cleethorpes winter gdns - Flame n king: oh happy day Clifton hall- The Magnetics: lady in green The Painted lady - Phil Coulter: a good thing going (seriously) The After 8(Grantham) - Lou Johnson: unsatisfied ok, a couple of them were'nt the biggest clubs on the scene, but they were always busy and always popular
  14. Dr Pickles. that thing looks ANGRY !! I've had a few Scoots. first one in 79 (mod revival thing). it was a TV200 series 3, i paid the princely sum of £40 for it, paid the guy in 2 installments.... i got it home, checked her over and made sure everything worked. A mate promptly turned up and asked for a spin, i obliged and never saw him or the Lammy for 3 days!! He decided to go to Skegness I kept it a while, then swapped it for a Music centre (honestly) , the guy who got it off me is still Riding Scooters in Hull. I dabbled a bit until about 84, the last rally i went to was Yarmouth, Edwin Starr was on i seem to remember. A good mate from Grantham went to Wigan Casino in 81 on his Vespa 90 (?) with a pillion, thankfully it wasnt me. If you see a red cut down named 'in the red' out and about, that will be Biz, the very same lad who did the trip mentioned above! I was 'Scoot-less' for a few years after those days, then in 96 i got myself a Vespa T5, did a couple of Rallies/meets/ride outs, sold it to buy a large sports bike, promptly sold that and got a Vespa Cosa 200, that was a pile of dung, then just recently i;ve got myself a P200E.......... some lovely machines posted, Scooters and the Northen scene go hand in hand as far as im concerned.
  15. she's gettin ready for North Wings........
  16. moderation is the important factor........... unfortunately it aint used in moderation!
  17. Margaret Little. Seems Hestor & Wylie owed the dinner lady a favour, so they let her cut a record.
  18. https://www.mirrorpix.com/webgate/preview.php?UURL=4ed40f067e0ae5cd8da9a03768ab4e36&IMGID=00351599 just as i remember....... Harry's mini bus, with the Rice brothers, Wocko etcetc . Flame n king was a biggie and a good time was had by all
  19. Patto, What ya sellin mate?
  20. i hear ya! choice number 2 for me. one of musics true masters! everything he touched turned to gold ! Sandi Sheldon, Brenda and the tabulations, Gene Chandler, David Ruffin, Billy Woods, his solo outings. an amazing songwriter, arranger and talent. sadly missed indeed. i even stuck a poster up after his death, as a tribute. Great choice
  21. someone who stirred the soul. a man who gave us gospel tinged poetry, uptempo mastery, protest songs with feeling and 5 decades of wonderful memories. a true god, who i had the pleasure of seeing twice in the early 80's. his simple guitar playing made my hair stand on end, his silky voice brought tears to the eyes. theres only one .......................... CURTIS MAYFIELD
  22. Will Collins ........................ What a fine record !!!
