ok i've been thinking. I was approached at kingsway hall, new yrs eve about this event. The guy in question said that the backing singers were wearing different clothing to the photograph (crowd one). he also spotted me in the photo. In hindsight, he's 100% correct. I think some of the above shots are from the 'Edwin Starr' solo concert from a little while earlier. The blue t shirt he has on is in my drawer upstairs. . actually, the last 4 photo's posted are 2 different events if you look a little closer top left is Ric Tic revue, the other three are from the Edwin solo gig blimey, as you were
  12. Most of those listed above are over 30 yrs old. the only modern 'anthem' i can think of is Oasis , Don't look back in anger, wrong genre though seriously, some nice tunes listed, albeit vintage Ian
  13. soul gigs!! Bowie at milton keynes bowl, Squeeze at Rock city

I was at the Curtis Mayfield gig too. I stood speechless right in front of a god and (at the time) a living poet. he played that telecaster with ease which made my hair stand on end. ( i had some then ) CM is in my top 3 songwriters of all time, a legend and a superstar IAN
  15. blimey, lots of great acts over the years. the ones that stand out to me are: Jnr Walker - Nottm palais '79 Chuck Jackson/Edwin Starr - Nottm Astoria - '83 (incredible night) Curtis Mayfield - Hinckley '83 Gene Chandler - 83 Major Lance - stafford Ric Tic Revue Eddie Holman & Jnr Walker - Peterborough (major lance did'nt show) Maze - Rock city '82 (also hammersmith in 86) Stevie Wonder - Brum 84 George Benson - Wembley arena 84 Four Tops - RCH Nottm, '86
  16. Does this mean that we will all have to learn that street dancing Dont fancy it myself! Debbie x
  17. I only started buying c.d's a couple of years ago, as i love my Vynal But i wish they would get rid of cd's, as we have dvd's to, i dont know if im listening to music or watching a film as they both look the same to me I think Vynal will always be around, as long as there is a demand for it Debbie x

  21. 'you turn me on' is the flip side of 'What' lookin at the photo's i'd say thats one and the same
  22. remember Sam playing this at Nottm Palais and hearing it at Stafford a bit later. Always sounded messy to me. to this day its not one of my faves. Vocals too overpowering , not enough of the backing track apart from the keyboard riff. having said that, i enjoyed the youtube link of them doing it live. very nice, probably better than the original recording in my opinion
  23. I remember another scary place Sitting outside in the car waiting to go into the Mousetrap all-nighter at Finsbury Park, we heard two gunshots & then saw a police van pull up next to us, then the police jumped out & ran into a store up the road & dragged some chap out onto the street floor Debbie x
  24. Found a couple of my old membership cards from London, when i was a young, i mean when i was a younger girl We used to get charged £20 to park in the car park for scenesville, but it was worth it, always a superb night with a cracking bunch of very good friends! Debbie x
