Considering paid Mixcloud 'Select' shows
I have essentially stopped listening to Mixcloud shows, since they tried to rinse me for a monthly payment to listen to something I'd been listening to for years. There were only really certain shows that I was interested in anyway. If certain people are now asking for a fee to listen to one or more of their shows, then what is their value proposition ? Are they playing music from their record collection, in which case they need to be playing something special and not the 'same old' as most shows are. There are probably very few collectors/DJ's who are popular enough and have the right material for the soul scene that could do this. The internet has created a space for people to people to play their collections anyway via the lock down all dayers etc. If they are creating music and uploading it as an artist then that could be a different case all together. If you like their output then you may wish to support it. It seems the way of the world that if something is popular then monetisation becomes the way forward with ever more creative ways of relieving money from punters.

Northern tunes - Ben E King, Syl Johnson, Howard tate
Here we have some nice northern soul tunes. All clips below are for reference only. PM to order or any questions. Gradings NM, Ex, VG as usual. 1. Syl Johnson - Try Me - Twighlight VG+ £12 Pounding northern tune. Howard Tate - half a man - Verve Ex £10 (great mid tempo) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEywkkMlx1w&list=RDjEywkkMlx1w&start_radio=1 PM with questions or to order Post 1.70 First 3.00 recorded, 5.00 world wide Paypal as F&F please or add 4%. Turntable recommendations.
Yes most of the records we buy and play are in mono, so someone recommended it to me. Got mine off Ebay for about 70 quid. One draw back is on my NAD there is no bass adjustment so if the recording quality of the record is "dull" there can be a bit of distortion at higher volumes.

Turntable recommendations.
I did the same as Alan and went with the Reloop around 3 years ago. No problems with it at all so far. Added Wharfdale bookcase speakers and bought a older NAD 3120 amp that has the mono function.

Poll: Battle of the Sides - Lil Major Williams
Just a quick story on this 45. Many years ago I was dealing with a guy in the US using lists he sent me. They had a whole mix of 45's in every genre not just soul. I was out one night and Dave Welding was DJ'ing and played this covered up. Obviously he wouldn't say what it was but eventually it came out probably a couple of years after. Thinking back to my lists I realized it had been listed on there, so I got straight back in touch with the dealer, only to be told he had 4 copies which had been sold to a UK dealer. These were probably the copies that went out to the big names who began to play it also. Andy
