  1. I'm a sucker for "Day Tripper" influenced soul. Love this.
  2. cool story, i like it when things work out like that.
  3. that's what i'm talking about, no reason for that to be elusive.
  4. that white label Betty Wright is a good looking 45
  5. pretty similar i think, the Baby Huey LP or 45 isn't a ridiculous task if you're ebaying, but they are definitely a bit tough in the real world.
  6. i've always liked the Big Top one with the instruments.
  7. what's the story with this, never seen it before, is it something special?
  8. Johnny Otis Rip View full article
  9. http://blogs.laweekl...nd_blues_rb.php RIP to a legend of Rhythm & Blues Let's all do the Watts Breakaway tonight
  10. ?? isn't this exactly what it is? anyways, it is in demand for a lot of the reasons mentioned, it's a great record, a substitute for the Baby Huey & appealing to the funk scene you should still be able to grab it for $40US on ebay, but when it's placed in amongst a good list from a good seller it will go higher as evidenced by the $95 J***e got for it yesterday.
  11. yeah, Northside is great.
  12. nah, i do this too, but not to records in junk shops like paup-ine.
  13. nothing really in the 40s, but in the 50s you'd get guys hanging off George Russell & taking it to extremes, dudes like Mingus, Ra, Cecil, Ornette, Coltrane, not really Avant as we know it but more like revisionism of where they were headed.
  14. nada, looks like i have to be a member to view it.
  15. yep, used to get good scores, but it's tough, almost like the records are drying up or something
  16. i need to finish off that time machine.... if only.
  17. both in the US & NZ as well as Canada, the UK, France & Japan, it's like i'm Stand By Me kryptonite, i'm actually semi-amazed a copy got to me in the mail & that it hasn't disappeared from my collection . not really likely to get much of anything down here, rare or common at the moment, hard work in record hell.
  18. i've seen that Vee Jay one a lot, never the Modern one though, very nice.
  19. i have not seen that multi-colored Tower sleeve or label before
  20. read my post again, ebay is mentioned, just never seen it in the "real world" is all.
  21. my copy is on Omen, I've not seen it on Columbia either, might be foreign or just a youtube mistake
  22. no real price difference in my experience, Hourglass press seems a tad rarer but is possibly cheaper to get, great cheap 45. Spectrum press is distributed by Laurie so I've always thought it was a 2nd press picked up for national distro but I've never actually known for certain, it could have been rereleased on Hour Glass at some point too. would like to know for sure which came first. Spectrum was known to license outside productions more than recording in-house.
