  1. no. how long since you changed your stylus?
  2. oh, that one.... no i didn't I was listening to the 45 the other day & was thinking how much Little Richard sounded like Solomon Burke on it & not so much like himself
  3. what link?
  4. My copy of the 45 plays fine, vocals sound fine. Ann Bridgeforth is not the same Little Ann as early Tina Turner. Ike Turner was the man, total legend of R&B music regardless of his shortcomings as a person.
  5. which from memory also is a confirmed early appearance of Jimi Hendrix as a sideman.
  6. I sent 10 45s from New Zealand to Finland on the 4th of December & they haven't arrived at their destination yet
  7. later early even her recent albums are really good & well worth checking out. not to mention that sundazed "what if" LP of her SSS sides from a couple of years ago. top stuff
  8. a few from my collection to showcase the not-so-northern side of one of the greatest black music labels ever.
  9. Sealed + "the Bob Djukic effect" = top price

ha ha, raiding the record stores in I Am Legend is so true cheers for playing my 45 Henning
  11. kinda looks jamaican.
  12. that philips Double-Hit reissue series has the best US pressing of Bobby Hebb's "Sunny". I play that out when needed & keep the original filed as it has weird distortion/static, it's gotta be the pressing because I've had about 15 different copies of the US original over the years & they all do it, even the original New Zealand pressing was obviously transferred from a distorting US original because it does it too Above the 15 different copies I thought I'd lucked out when I got a pressing plant box of unplayed copies, but alas they all had the same problem too "Bread" on the flipside is fine though & a great track too.
  13. so much I could add to this, but here are just a couple I picked up semi-recently
  14. Yellow label LPs denote Stereo pressings. The yellow label stereo press of "Soul Of A Bell" actually has alternate versions of "You Don't Miss Your Water" & "Any Other Way" which are different from the 45 & blue label mono LP. The jukebox EPs were stereo which is why they also have yellow labels.
  15. LESS THAN 100 COPIES LEFT NOW - DON'T MISS OUT Listen to clips of both sides here: https://www.divshare....ad/12483970-d6c Since last year's Elder William Smith 45 went down well. Here is another, the follow up I guess. Limited to 300 hand numbered copies. $10 US each International Airmail Postage is from New Zealand & is $8 US for the first copy then $1 US for each additional. PM me for paypal instructions.
  16. I have often wondered about my Bobby Womack - Midnight Mover LP on Minit (Germany). It's a completely repackaged version of the Fly Me To The Moon LP. Was this how it was originally released in all Europe or just Germany? Or is it a rarer oddity than I've previously given it credit for? The cover has multiple mini snapshots of a girl in various dancing poses.
  17. to totally clarify, it's not every type of plastic sleeve which reacts with the vinyl. The one that causes problems is the very shiny/clear, almost rubbery type of plastic sleeve. This plastic was used a lot for LP inners in the 50s/60s & often breaks down completely into flaky pieces leaving lines & hazing on the vinyl. It is also found as lining inside many paper & card 45 sleeves from the 60s/70s/80s. Lastly it can be identified on LP & 45 outers easily by the dimpled seam around the edge of the sleeve. This plastic is quite easy to tell apart from the non-reacting stuff. The modern style plastic 45 & LP outers & inners are perfectly fine & non-reactive. My 45s are filed in company or plain white paper sleeves inside poly-outers. The plastic outers were a recent initiative, I'm probably 4/5ths through my collection with outer sleeves, an unwanted downside is that it makes the little bastards slippery as hell For years I just kept them in the paper sleeves, but they start to get a bit hammered through gigging. I toyed with the idea of cardboard outers intead of plastic but can't buy them locally & getting 6000 odd shipped to New Zealand would have cost me a vital organ or similar
  18. RIP to the greatest. May 5, 1933 - December 25, 2006.
  19. there is no way you can be too descriptive when grading, the issue is definitely each individual's perception of what constitutes each grade. Which often can be worlds apart from one seller to another. At this point in time, for a rough overview, as a buyer I am following this as a guide. Mint - self explanatory SS - self explanatory (may or may not be Mint because of the possibility of warping. Mint Minus or Near Mint - record is like new, buy without hesitation. Very Good ++/Excellent +/American Excellent (rare) - slight signs of wear, buy without hesitation. Very Good +/UK Excellent/Excellent Minus - noisy, only buy if you trust the seller & have experience with them prior or can get a soundclip, I very rarely/never buy this grade from unfamiliar dealers. Very Good/UK Excellent Minus etc - noisy to hammered condition, don't buy. Very Good Minus - noisy & definitely thrashed, don't buy. everything below is also obviously hammered. As a seller I use NM E (this usually gives people a nice surprise) VG++ VG+ VG VG- then you get down to your "Good"(s) which don't even count. don't usually bother with anything less than VG++ though because I'll just throw them out or tack them to the wall for deco. Euroman's Excellent & Yankeeman's VG+ have got to be the most abused grades ever
  20. it annoys me that popsike & cfrenzy don't keep track of BIN sales.
  21. i think i actually still have it on Jay Boy or President from memory.
