THe only CD player I own is on my computer! How often did the artists make money, Especially on the indi labels? Who does make money from selling originals?

A friend of mine and I play once a month in a local wine bar. We play mostly Soul & funk (with some latin, disco & R& - Its a growing crowd that range from 18 to 80 - without exception whenever people come past the decks (They need to to get to the toilets) they say how fantastic it sounds - One of the guys whos 18 (a scratch DJ) keeps asking for Gino -Paper Moon and one of the Old boys askes for Funkier than a Mosquita's tweeter by Ike & Tina Turner!!!! although what he asks for is the dirty old man record Its not the music thats the problem,its the DJing at a lot of venus - buying records does not make you a DJ. I think that all DJs should be required to dance for one hour prior to putting the needle to vinyl

I'm not sure this is a bootleg, was the Vanguards a boot also? But I would say anyone who doesn't DJ at Northern events and can't afford the price tag of the original - that has been pushed up by those who have far more money than most. Simon

I like music for all my moods. This is laid back / DIY production on a small indi. All those releases were done with soul weren't they?It reminds me of the emotions I went through when I split with my partner (all be it only for a month or so) 16 years ago. The flute playing speaks to me, proper. Thats what I call Soul music - like I said its a million miles from northern. But I think its dripping with Soul.

I do not know the track but the one on Soulclub sounds like a woman to me.
