  1. Great topic Always thought of cover ups as part and parcel of the scene and although I am only embarking on my journey I would if I felt I had the right 45, cover it up for fun and as Russ and Dave already stated, allow it to remain exclusive a tad longer than otherwise and prevent some djs just buying it without the "effort". Its increasing hard to do, as an awful lot is known, but its still possible. I suspect I'll be rumbled within seconds with my first lol, lets see, but some of the fun traditions are worth maintaining I think for set balance; well knowns, rare and unplayed, different mix of temp AND a cover up all blend to make great sets. When djs do it I think they have made an effort, rather than just play the guaranteed (unless its that type of event and that's all the whats described, in which case fine too). Long live the "odd" cover up
  2. This is a great resource site too.......... https://www.seabear.se/ Although server timed out when I tried just now.......
  3. Hy-Tones - You don't even know my name - SOUTHERN ARTISTS condition and price please via pm
  4. I'm sure many more experienced sellers can offer you advice (and hope they do so) Firstly, I'd recommend you buy either or both of the JM and Tim Brown Price Guides - they provide an indication. Also, start pricing items with reference to last sold prices on here, on Evil Bay or Popsike etc It takes time to do all this, but you pay lower sales fees and you can sell at your own speed and requirement. As you say, if you ask someone to so it (a main dealer like JM / Pat Brady etc], they take a fee, BUT they may well reach a wider audience and achieve higher prices ie the price difference achieved maybe more than the fee........... Please also remember to consider Packaging Postage Insurance Cover which countries you may or may not sell to and importantly how you wish to be paid Hope that helps
  5. I submitted an EvilBay report, not the clearest of procedures, hoping they may simply delete the listing. If enough people do so it may raise some attention on the seller.............
  6. Price and condition please Thanks
  7. On 45 please, original first press release Please send price and condition via pm Cheers
  8. If anyone has anything more definitive on this be great to here
  9. Nice tunes as ever, thanks for the easy transaction and fast responses
  10. All for a Rare Soul Weekender myself, location must be everything for the promoter because numbers attending must be hard to judge ? I mean I wouldn't care if 20 turned up, but they might............... I don't think many, if any, of the Rare Soul styled nights I've attended have been absolutely jammed packed full (seems this element of Northern Soul is a rarer breed), so would such a Weekender at present draw enough for the sums to add up ? Surely it would have to lean towards a few rooms, one maybe playing current favourites to draw the crowd - a bit like many nights now that split with two rooms...........reversing the rooms or proportions.......... I'm all for it, because selfishly it would excite
  11. Some great 45s there, gonna have to see what I win elsewhere
  12. Sounded nice at the Alniter
  13. Crossover is quiet tricky to define, especially as I don't have a musically background to get technical, but I know when I hear it Think everyone has a slight personal view on it, as so most of us on most genres / styles. To me it can be distinct from 70ts Soul, its definitely not Disco and isn't considered Northern or RnB - so thats what its not imho These are the sort of tunes I consider crossover : El Anthony - We've Been In Love Before Leon Haywood - Its Got To Be Mellow Velvet Hammer - Happy Roger Hatcher - Sweetest Girl In The World Norwood Long - I Got To Have You Quinn Harris - I'll Always Love You Jades - Lucky Fellow I haven't heard many crossover sets out and about and welcome recommendations of where to currently hear it, last set I heard was from Tom, Banbury in Rugby Room 2 last year..... I understand those who say its just 70ts soul, but thats a bit broad for me as it can include artists I don't consider crossover...
  14. Only have to look at my own son, who is surrounded here by vinyl ; "all mine fits on the mp3 player and is interchangeable with the tv, iphone and portable player........" Sees vinyl as "old" .......... He has some soul on mp3 and loves them, so its best to let them find there way ; maybe the future is djing via cd and laptops ; much as its not for me.... Looking at events that seem to draw the young, I have noted that They tend to be town centre based (ease of access and taxi fare awayHave very mixed music policyDon't always play OVO Best example I visited was Yum Yum, Northampton............... I think these events though, are very different from the Northern and Rare Soul nites. Not sure the same will meet......
