  1. Hear, hear. I think though if you want to find the original spirit of Northern Soul, then it is to be found in those progressive clubs, underplayed etc. For me, it's a state of mind about digging out and championing stuff that doesn't get played, including picking up on styles not previously favoured. As for all this guff about the top 500 is the best by virtue of it being the top 500.............I've had people say that to me and it really is the most fatuous, unsustainable and narrow-minded of arguments.

  11. I'm not at all sure what the issue is here or what folk want to achieve with this thread? The price of a record is a matter between the seller and any potential buyer and it really is nobody else's business at all, frankly. As stated above, there are different motivations for offering records at certain prices. If you don't like the price and the seller won't shift to where you want it, either put up or shut up, move on, get off the car lot - go and do something more useful with your time instead.

  16. Please PM me. Thanks.
  17. Surely somebody must have tried to do that before? Been used by a lot of commercial operators, not least in recent years - Fred Perry, Ocean Colour Scene and so on. In fact I DJed in Cardiff last night for the Stone Foundation gig and the band have adopted it as their logo. Would have thought that under those circumstances, anybody would find it difficult to trademark as their own? Then again, copyright, trademark law etc is notoriously intricate.
  18. Couple of nice soulful funk rarities. Post to be added. Bobby O'Brown - "Searching For My Baby" (Single B) VG (plays great) £150 Sonny Perry - "Do Something For Yourself" (Crisko) VG++ £80 Thanks for looking.
  19. Sorry if I f*!ked up the inclusive business model Ady........ Only ever did it to blokes that looked like trouble.
  20. Ha! Done similar Paul. Never went as far as telling curious groups of blokes on Oxford Street that it was a gay club but on more than one occasion told them it was all blokes dancing on their own to old music and no single women. Always enough to put them off.
  21. I know.........
  22. I always took the view, which I have always generously shared with anyone who whines about the 100 Club floor, that if it has been good enough for the likes of Keb Darge, Soulie, etc etc, then it's good enough for anybody.
