  1. It's one of those records that is based on the distinct sound of the lowest regions of a round, wooden container being desperately scraped.......................cheesy rubbish.
  2. That does look very nice indeed.

  4. Sounds about right. Maybe more Ray Agee's knocking about?
  5. Glad to see you're on the mend Bearsy mate.
  6. Thank you so much for clarifying and setting us all straight, Mr "Stompingsevens". There was me thinking that the bootleggers were just in it to make a quick turn when all along they were actually providing a public service and operating a social enterprise by sharing this music amongst us all, introducing it to the poor and needy, providing affordable records to those in need, spreading the gospel of this great music for the benefit of society and all the time doing it for the pure altruism and not-for-profit (well, a little bit maybe, "to cover my expenses, my dear.........") Sanctimonious and specious twaddle.
  7. I'm Losing Again is on For Millionaires Only Vol 3 (I think?).
  8. Errrrrrr............is this not a 'Top 500' record?
  9. Awesome record. Out of my league, sadly.....

Errrrr......well, no.........I'm taking a wild guess here, but I suspect he wouldn't have been so anti and wouldn't have mentioned anything on here because he would have had a real Cashmeres, as it was advertised to be? Have I missed something obvious, or have you?
  11. Taking into account the messy production etc, mine is near mint and sounds decent. Had a fairly beat copy before and that was distorted.
  12. Mine's on the East coast swirl- which is the rarer? Doesn't appear to be any difference price wise

Hear, hear. I think though if you want to find the original spirit of Northern Soul, then it is to be found in those progressive clubs, underplayed etc. For me, it's a state of mind about digging out and championing stuff that doesn't get played, including picking up on styles not previously favoured. As for all this guff about the top 500 is the best by virtue of it being the top 500.............I've had people say that to me and it really is the most fatuous, unsustainable and narrow-minded of arguments.
