Unsatisfactory Ebay Deal
Well that really is a matter of subjective argument. We all know there are shed loads of records out there which are not 'soul' but which get played as such on the many 'soul' scenes around the globe. Frankly, there are many many records played on soul scenes which would never stand up to being called soul, but they are.

Unsatisfactory Ebay Deal
Whatever. Still seems a lot of fuss about fifteen quid at the end of the day. And I suspect that's what's probably got the seller naffed off here and made him be a little difficult - having to unwind such a small deal over such a dull issue. Personally speaking, I would have taken the misunderstanding on the chin, had a laugh and told all my mates about the Swedish collection I was starting. After all, it's not as if the bloke hasn't agreed to unwind the deal. So if we're getting into semantics, it could hardly be described as an "Unsatisfactory Ebay Deal" because the seller has apparently agreed a refund. I just think the seller's getting undeservedly slagged off as if he set out deliberately to con buyers - from what I've read here, he sold the record as described. Maybe if he doesn't see it through on the refund............we shall see. We were asked for views on the matter, that's mine.

Unsatisfactory Ebay Deal
Extremely harsh view given that the seller has acted honourably and (IMHO) beyond what they were obliged to do. Far from being stupid, I think this seller should be thanked for being so flexible and accomodating.

Unsatisfactory Ebay Deal
Hardly the end of the world for the sake of fifteen quid really, is it?

You sold me that Little Gary Ferguson at Ghetto Soul last summer Adam. I played it out at GoGo Children - went down well.

Whats Your 3 Most Hated Tunes
Them that decided to pander to the handbaggers, that's whose idea.
-
Whats Your 3 Most Hated Tunes
Yes! That's a good one Benji. A classic pop record albeit with Northern connections which has now for some reason become a refuge for every desperate DJ.
-
Whats Your 3 Most Hated Tunes
So many, but here's 3 that spring to mind and for different reasons bring out the self-righteous and opinionated in me: (1) Charles Sheffield - Voodoo Working (a decent enough record for a few plays back in the day - after that, forget it) (2) That hideous, dreadful 'Tribute' thing - whoever first thought it would be a good idea to play that dreck-laden drivel when there are so many great records out there which don't get played for crying out loud? (3) Jackie Wilson "Because Of You" - great when it was first spun, but I hear more adventurous records when I shop at Asda. Problem is, this is a great tune which deserved its day with the dancefloor having been known for many many years. Then, like so many other good records - number (1) above included - becomes ubiquitous and ruined by the constant demand for it and the avid willingness of the desperate (and unadventurous) DJ to oblige

Fabulous Mustangs I Won't Let You Go Stang M- Sold Thanks Soul Source
I had this off you last year Phil. It is a difficult production but would sound great out loud on a big system where you could compensate. Apparently Dave Flynn used to play it at the Dome, but I don't recall it. Certainly a Flynny type of record. I love it!

Andy Fairweather Low looked pretty well at the Cardiff's Globe club a few weeks ago when he turned out to see his old mate Georgie Fame playing in his home city.

Great record - got myself a WD! Keb's Top Ten 60's Newies 22Nd September 1984
Very true. And, as is now and as has always been, there was those in the know and the rest of us scum and plebs . The primary aim was to throw the majority off the scent and preserve DJ exclusivity for as long as possible thus maintaining status as a top DJ with the exclusives and unknowns. There was a very high turnover of records back in the Stafford days. The scene had gone right underground following the closure of Wigan. Conversely though, it was attracting a fresh influx of young folk, with a lot coming off the Mod and scooter scenes - that brought with it people with new ears and little or no baggage allowing DJs like Keb to go back to basics and trawl the boxes for sounds which didn't fit the traditonal 'Wigan'/Northern Soul mould which had built up over the preceding decade and more (stand back and wait for the slings and arrows to come my way). The growth in popularity of R&B type sounds and beat ballads testifies to that.

Cleaning My Record With Pva Glue
So, let me get this straight: (1) it doesn't do any better than cleaning a record using recognised methods - decent cloth, decent fluid and/or soapy warm water (2) there is a concensus that it may well leave a milky residue behind diminishing a record's grading (3) the people on here that have tried this glue method have only done so a limited, small number of times with the results quoted in (1) and (2) My question therefore is this - what is the point and why bother? Or am I being thick and missing something blindingly obvious about the benefits of plastering glue all over a record?
