Thrift Store Digging
I have been in Canada for 7 years now and have had mixed luck in Thrift Stores, Flea Markets etc. but my best scores have been through getting to know the local dealers who sell at the fairs and it is amazing what can turn up but over all the purchases against hours spent searching dont really make it worth while. I get a call now and again to look through their new stuff and last time out scored a load of Canadian Warner Bros including Ben Aiken - Satisfied for $1C each I do find lots of cheapies that sell OK on ebay, multiple copies of stuff like Winstons, Mel Torme, Little Carl Carlton, Flirtations, Ronnie Love etc etc but rareties are a different matter. I have turned up things now and again like Anne Heywood, Linda Lloyd on Canadian Columbia, 2 copies of Doug Banks, 3 copies of Mickie Champion, The Dynells on Atco and all for no more than $2 each. I have expanded my record buying to Garage 45's which seem to sell well and generates more cash to buy Soul 45's. Keep trying Russ, I am sure that big score is out there some where.

The guy who made is a bit strange as well I will try and get release details

Best Ever Dj On Northern Scene
From a personal perspective I would plump for Adey Pountain at Yate and Stafford. He always played a good soulful, rare and just darned good set.

Scientists Of Soul On Kashe
I am sure there used to be one in every Soul Bowl Soul Pack mid to late 70's.

Soul List
Just added 70 odd Motown 45's to this list, mostly Canadian issues and, once again, mostly $4 each Kevin

Ebay Jokers
Baz I dont know you and you dont know me but how can you accuse someone of taking the moral ground when you have just admiited in print your lack of morals??? Astounding hypocrisy.
-
Ebay Jokers
I wasnt having a dig at anybody, however baz did admit to doing it, my question was purely generic. Why take a gamble on ebay when you can do better elsewhere?
-
Ebay Jokers
I have to agree, shill-bidding is wrong and as has been said before, against e-bay policy. It is quite dis-heartening to actually read somebody admit to doing it, especially on here. Why would you sell something on ebay for 50 quid if you could get more at a venue? Records should start at what you need to cover you costs or set a minimum, simple as that.

From The Vaults - Tamla Motown
At a record show in Toronto at the weekend and picked up the From The Vaults album but on the US Natural Resources label. I always thought this was a UK album released to cash in on the Nothern/Motown scene? Any idea of a value? Also picked up Billy Eckstine - I Wonder Why on Canadian Tamla - value?

Soul List
I have a list of approx 340 soul 45's covering all styles - Northern/R&B/Mainstream/Funk/Deep - nothing rare, just bits and pieces I have lying around. They are $4US each, yes, only $4 each, so email me at knew@branttel.com if you want to see a list. I also have a list of approx 230 albums as well, although this is not priced, so let me know if you would like to see that as well. Kevin

Youth Clubs & Youth Clubs Soul Top 10
Pete French (moths in wallet) used to set up full equipment and we had northern nites at the Elm Tree Youth Club, probably 76' - 78'. Also used to do "away" trips to Tewkesbury Youth Club to their Northern nites. Big at the time would have been what ever was big at Wigan.

Was There Ever A Better Stomper Than

Buddy Miles - Them Changes - Mercury
Just picked up this album last week, Buddy has a huge Afro on the cover, sat behind a drum set. Was the title track - Them Changes - ever played? It is absolutely brilliant, album comes from 1970? Did it come out on a 45?
