  1. I take it you mean 'A Pretty Girl Dressed In Brown' I've just had a quick gander on Gemm and it looks like it has been booted as a kind of repro.. But I'm like you Joan, had no idea it had been booted. It's a £100 ish record not mega rare but has demand. Wouldn't be surprised if whichever tosspot has done this doesn't come up with a looky likey of Harvey Averne 'Never Learned To Dance' same kind of market demand but harder to pick up. For identification the Eugene Jefferson boot appears visually different from the image I got from GEMM. The original is a very deep brown/black with light gold lettering (if that makes sense) and pressed on vinyl. Deadwax info is 2 scratched out small stamped matrix one letters one numbers at 10 o clock, just below that there is a scratched in identifier looks like LO - 033 and at 2 o clock a stamped capital H As far as I can see, the repro is black with silver lettering 9looks like the same font as original) no idea what marks it may have in the deadwax and is available for £6. ATB Greg
  2. That's more like it £400 - £500, never a £1000+ record.
  3. What's been booted? On what label / issue? As a boot or a repro?
  4. Yeh, they've done a good job. However, they are the original trimmfit so be careful on sizing. My lads got the tartan check and it looks nice but he's 18 and trim build - No Brutus pour moi I'm afraid! Greg.
  5. Hi Rob, Not seen this for a while. Good blue eyed tune with a great atmospheric feel. Best, Greg.
  6. I understand the theory, and you could factor many buyer/seller/market/product etc attributes - previous sales, known availability, current demand, expectations, auction 'fever', number of watchers etc etc - into a statistical model to 'become more accurate' in predicting value. It's a sensible approach whether buying or selling but this is a volatile market, that is far from a rational commodity market, so best of luck with it and I'd be happy to look at any models you develop. My main suggestion is, do your homework, nobody wants to get mugged off, but most of all buy what you like and enjoy the music! ATB Greg.
  7. These are not statistical anomalies, nor are they the result of the auction format. No need to perform complicated calculus or statistical differential analysis or ay other economics modelling tool. As Maruj points out, your anomalies are due to smart marketing, product placement and the fact that they were both sold by well known sellers who promote themselves and their sales very well. Of course we can point to the fact that the buyers in these cases have not done their homework etc but the fact remains the seller is not responsible for this and if they do well good luck to them. Regards, Greg.

  9. BUMP ....................... Thanks, Greg.
  10. That's a move I have had done on me. See something on Ebay, negotiate a BIN with seller off the Bay but with Paypal payment. Wait, nothing arrives, go through Paypal to sort it but seller has emptied there paypal account and nothing can be done. Like you Nev, I've done it since with no problems, but for the risk averse stay on Ebay as they have more powers than Paypal to get you your money back.. Regards, Greg.

Hi Nev, Can't believe this is still available! Top tune from a band that graced the Lamp label with some serious tunes.. But this one is special, very seldom seen people in any condition.. ATB Greg.
  12. Jason PM'D You GReg
  13. Agree with you Ady on the scary titles for the new gear.. But, "What Condition.." is a brilliant interpretation of the 'Kenny Rogers / First Edition' attempt at acid trip pop.. I don't think it can be considered a "rock" tune by any stretch, just a great piece of interpretative Soul music by one of the best female voices ever.. My humble opinion of course Best, Greg.
  14. Totally agree. And if anyone has an extremely nice copy (EX/M-) of the Fania issue "Hey Sister / Work Out" I will take it for an agreed amount Sterling. Best, Greg.
  15. Hi Jason Regarding 'ann sexton-its all over but the shouting-77' Good choice at the right end of the money scale but get one asap as it started to move up in price! Brilliant tune that should cost £15 - £30 depending on nick. ATB Greg.

Two great tunes. The 'Katie Briggs' is tuff especially in M- condition and 'Rhetta Hughes' is a bargain at £20! Don't know the seller so no commision involved - just a public service announcement ATB Greg.
  17. Brilliant record Brett! A real rare groove funky fuzzed out soul mover - if that's possible! I believe a blue eyed number as well and one of the very highest quality ATB Greg.

  21. The best 2 versions by a country mile are the Barbara Lynn on Tribe and the wonderful Cold Blood version on San Fran.. Both essential IMO! Regards, Greg.
  22. I don't think it does either by itself. It may cut down on static by reducing dust etc but it also protects from nasty fluid accidents - depending on how good the record is..
  23. Hi, If your looking for heavy gsm plastic outer sleeves then these guys in the UK might be worth a look.. SOUNDSWHOLESALE LIMITED UK ATB Greg.
  24. Seen it selling for £50 and above Tony on a number of occasions recently. If it's an oldie Mini would know! Check out the flip tis good.. It's been reactivated a bit recently in mainland Europe as well as here so probably the reason for the price shift.
  25. That Little Archie is a good price Kev.. The flip is good too making £30 seem even better! Regards, Greg.
