  1. I can't comment on the Grumpy management (no pun intended there btw!) The staff seemed nice at least. But over the years I have worked with many different venues, and have experienced the added stress of not having the management 100% behind what I was doing. In actual fact, quite the opposite (and this is the incompetence aside) There's me bringing business to their venue! It's unbelievable really, and most annoying. It does make you really appreciate it when the people you are dealing with are supportive though. Anyway, hope all sorted ok for the anniversary. Len
  2. 'What fun' aye? Hey, it may be a blessing in disguise, and benefit the Anniversary - I know I shall be making an extra effort to get to that, and hopefully other folk will too. I had to cancel Octobers 'Lennys' due to being moved to make room for a wedding, but that made me think 'b*llox to it' (that along with so many other events happening) Glad it hasn't put you off - Keep going guys, Grumpy is one of very few venues that I plan on attending (even with Carl F being involved!) All the best, Len

  9. Yes well done to all involved, and to everyone who 'has the nerve' to contribute! .......Why is it so blo*dy addictive?! One of the many great things about the site for me, is that it keeps us all in touch. Some folk I haven't seen since my '100 Club years' (before kidz) but I often 'chew the cud' with them on here, also I get to communicate with people that I wouldn't otherwise get chance to get to know - Great stuff. All the best, Len
  10. Absolutely mate, I wouldn't be doing it if it wasn't worth it - The truth is, I really wanted to (was gonna) stop promoting this year, but 'The Den' seems to have taken off - not many events would make Dave Allen and the 'Birmingham Possy' travel - They're more 'picky' than Brian Goucher! .....maybe it was meant to be....... Len
  11. Yes you're right, but unfortunately the past ten years has caused these rooms to be the only chance of hearing more than a hand full of 'something different' to what is being played in the Main rooms - This was not the case through the 90's, in fact 'alternative rooms' were not necessary / needed - This was before 'The Returnees returned'......In saying this, these 'Returnees' shouldn't be patronised - I believe if done correctly, they would welcome different stuff.........we've been here before....... Len P.s - Btw, we don't play 'something different' in 'Len's Den', we play 'SOUL MUSIC'.....and all the D.J's get paid (very well actually).......Well above the minimum wage.....
  12. ......'The Masses' don't want em.....or they are told they don't want em...... Len
  13. ....Yes 'a bone chucked'......in some cases Len
  14. You forgot Brian Goucher! ......I'm a regular at his Thursday night sessions (in his record room).......'Numbers are low', but we love it Len
  15. Me to - Is there still a Modern Scene? I know most of the Modern Rooms that were attached to All-nighters are now alternative rooms - They used to be kicking! All the best, Len

  19. Due to an unforeseen licencing issue, unfortunately The Bowls Club has had to cancel the All-dayer we had planned for June 15th at Rushden. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused, The Bowls Club and ourselves are very disappointed as so many tickets have already been sold, but unfortunately we have no choice in this matter. The good news is that we are able to carry on with the Soul Nights, dates being April 13th, Sep 14th, and Nov 16th. Tickets If you have already bought tickets, obviously a full refund will be given. But as a gesture, you also have the option of using one ticket for two people’s entrance to any of the Soul Nights this year, or one ticket for two nights entrance, saving you £4.00. For a full refund or any other info, please call Jem on 07905 028003 or Len on 07970 361219.

  22. Well done to all involved in one of the most important events of the scene. "ËœLife' has got in the way for most of us now - I have my 4 year old daughter's birthday party on Saturday, "ËœTime marches on'....... Look back and be proud of The Wilton All-nighters. All the best, Len.
