  3. Next installment of the Masonic. It feels like we're really building momentum at the Masonic after our last event but we're never ready to rest on our laurels; we present to you two amazing young dj's I know that will offer something both different and exciting.

If you know what's what, you know where you need to be!
  5. Think this is a different cut from the single on gamble, it's hard to tell this is stereo , the 45 mono and it's an extra 15 seconds or so longer.
  6. That's ace, love it Brilliant
  7. I've played it out a couple of times in recent years, few folk asked me about it.
  8. From the roots of the scene, played at the wheel, maybe not garage as it perhaps pre dates it, but it's guitar driven and closer to genuine garage than some of the blue eyed soul posted.

You can't understate this guy's relevance . Highly influential in the the development of western pop music, particularly in Europe. Both 'I've got a woman' and 'what I say' certainly had a big impact on rhythm and blues and in terms of musical structure and vocal stylings. Ok Ray may never had the best voice but in terms of impact.... Can't believe how contemporary this still sounds, dating from 1959. Other contenders may have had an influence on singing styles but musically Ray was way ahead.

Fair point, however I think it's also fair to say those examples are usually disputed.

You would get a similar debate with so many other genre's. The point about the overlap is very valid and I'd agree this is impossible to define. So When did R n B start? 😁
  12. It wasn't knicked by dance music, 90's 'dance' garage developed entirely independently and the garage in that stems from the branch of soulful dance music played at the paradise 'garage' in new York in the early 80's. It coincidentally has the same name.
  13. Easy in hindsight, but when you could only get at nighters once or twice a month and perhaps on searling's radio show perhaps not so obvious
  14. Another from the play box
  15. After years of playing the other side out, I'm finally appreciating this side! 😄 Perfect for a Sunday afternoon https://youtu.be/QJFQyP5IsJY?si=AgtxfQmwX7Y52v_f

I'll be honest I adore instrumentals but I'm not keen on backing tracks, especially of Motown stuff, particularly when played out. Anyone agree, or beg to differ?
