Trouble is it can all be so misleading, like assuming that a records relativly common cause you've seen multiple copies for sale in the last month, its often the case that several collectors are off loading the same tunes at the same time, tunes are ofetn like buses, you wait for ages...........

Very well put, but genres sell magazines, gig tickets and records unfortunatly.

not sure that any of those records would be assured to attract anyone to dance in the UK, not in my experience anyway.

like many others with a young family, the weekend was all about flag waving, picnics and beacons being lit, sorry I didnt make it to any of the many worthy events listed above, but sometimes family has to take priority.

sorry totally disagree, 1/2 slots should be the norm, for every great hour slot I've heard plenty of collectors, go out on limb with records that dont deserve dancefloor time, shorter sots should and do make things flow better, and the ego thing which most northern collectors seem to poccess in abundance, seems to respond really well to the competitive nature of short slots.

muck fee, and mar lady calls me cynical, christ knows what i'll be like in ten years but I hope I dont get as bad as most of you lot, you'll have nay ficker selling on her at this rate.

Pleased to say there's not much in either me soul or dance/ disco collections that I've not been able to replace over the years. Its the nigly one like the Valentino's- 'sweeter' and the epitome of sound that used to sell @ 20 and are now around 150, that i cant bring myself to hand over the readies for again that bother me.

A quid, thats exorbinate, it'd have to be no more than ten bob for me to buy without listening, unless it looks very tasty, but then I'm a cheapskate when it comes to tunes

country labels can look really similar to indie soul labels, i've been burnt a few times, but finding a piece of black magic can more than make up for it.

that got a really nice understated groove, like it.

getting some multi deals from one seller often helps.

Buying blind, anyone still do it? has the invention of youtube made this a rare practice nowadays? as a lot of semiknowns are alrerady up on there and many clips can be found on other sources. Do you still buy blind, whata re your best and worst blind buys?

Sorry to here about this one, out of the multitude of events around Lifeline is one of the best.

Its just how it should be Tony, some might scoff at some of the top 500 oldies that were played, but really nowadays how many places, in the area, can you go and hear Top notch oldies offa original vinyl, at a soul night!

What a massively diverse selection of sounds there were back in that year, very ecclectic listing.

good stuff guys, I'll try to post a run down of what the other collectors played, as they dont use this site, I think!

In fairness there was loads more cultural pressure to do the decent thing back in the earlt 7ts. The thelma image sprung to my mind too.

Am I right in saying that people tended to get married much earlier backi then which may account for the lack of late 2o somethings on the scene.
