  1. Can't wait to get back on that oh so silky dancefloor
  2. Can't see anyone else mentioned them, but apologies if I've missed it. it's not like soul fans to opt for the obscure and ignore those who had mainstream success is it๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ. Any road, surly they deserve a mention
  3. Next installment of Macclesfield Masonic. Full in Northern soul for the dancefloor!
  4. Royalle delight, was released in the UK, I have one somewhere
  5. Top man I bent his ear many times at bids and saw him at the last class of 72. A real character with amazing insight and knowledge, a sad loss.
  6. Really sad news, saw her at the Ritz Manchester a few years back. Her variety of material surprised and impressed me.

We have purchased additional heating for the event but it is looking to be mild. Should be hot, hot, hot!

Dj times for Saturday. You know it makes sense!
  11. I do apologize, I have obviously mixed two stories into one, here both relating to acetates. My humblest apologies I didn't intend any offence.
  12. An element of the discussion thats overlooked is why anyone would want to do this? As a commercial venture I'm afraid it's doomed to fail, look how many labour of love small labels put out stuff to little claim with little financial compensation. Without the added issue of wether it's credible to it's market because of the way it was produced. We really need machines to a style of music that's about human qualities?

For those coming from a distance, ample parking all night for ยฃ3.50
  14. Think this is the disc Maria and Karl had or another cut of it. If I remember right, it came from a west mids collector who had an indiscretion and this was all that was left of it after his missus caught him, as she couldn't snap it!
  15. Exceptional talent, irreplaceable
  16. Seem to remember maria and Karl, rest his soul playing an acetate credited to a willingham, and saying that sharing a surname it made it particularly special to them. Could it be related?
  17. Poor old Dave, what a palaver for him a Sarah

Really saddened by the loss of one of our regulars and local nighter stalwart, Joey Owen. I amongst myself others will certainly be dedicating a tune to him.

Please read above just a little DJ update for you.
  20. Is the stax copy of Otis redding/ Johnny Taylor blues in the night legit? Anyone? I know the album was the original source of this unissued track. Many thanks in advance
  21. Despite agreeing with many here I can't help but recall nighters 87-89 and thinking most I went to were as sparsely populated as nighters today, often moreso. I can recall a Blackburn with around 20 in. Some seem to elevate this era as a golden age. I'm having more fun on the scene now than then and personally the variety and range of quality sounds are better, but then I've always had a wide taste in music. Positive news with the addition Alternator in Burton cropping up, again Midlands but positive nonetheless. Id say I've seen nighter atendendence rise over the last couple of years too.
  22. Remember boots are welcome on the dancefloor but not in a record box! ๐Ÿ˜
  23. Lots of interest at Dark horses Saturday, shaping up to be a blinder.
