Your First Exposure To The Modern Soul Sound
this along with Nicky Newharkers and Larry houston amongst others, which in the 8ts seemed to be well intergrated with a range of stafford stuff and top 500 oldies.

Hangin´on Marvin
just cause the're not tuting on here doesnt mean they wouldnt if you played it out. especially if you played it at anywhere associated with ' rare soul'. Sad but true I'm afraid.

Hangin´on Marvin
great track, but the acetate of it highlights some of the absurdity of the 'rare' scene, a one copy real acetate, so nobody else will or can play it out with credibilty, Carl and Maria, probably play it of another dub of it ( to protect the original) fair enough but this great track will probably never become massive through lack of copies. If there was no acetate of it it might stand a chance because some might think well its fair game strange world of rare soul or what!

Repeat Tunes Played Venues
All I wanted to say ws I've heard the same conversation as Len several time, repeated by different well known ds, on one occassion I heard 3 dj's arguing about who was going to play what. all the said tunes were hammered anyway. Who'd want to be an oldies DJ eh? Spending a couple of grand on a record only to find the residents and the other guest has it to! LOL, really boring and so uncreative.

Repeat Tunes Played Venues
sorry my comment doesnt make sense. I've Maybe that could be seen as respect to another dj who is on before you/them.Certainly a forward thinking dj ,on the night, would avoid repeats if he paid more attention as to else was djing. One way is to have an an idea on who plays what.

Repeat Tunes Played Venues
well if its fresh and hot I dont mind, if its lazy dj's not bothering to listen to one and others sets, then its poor.If its oldies dj's playing the same tune and they know its already been played its piddle poor!

Lets Hear It For The Radio Soul Jockeys Thru The Decades
Dave Evison helped turn me onto soul through his signal shows in the mid 8ts, an often witty and insightfull voice showed the breadth of the northern scene at the time from Eddie and Ernie through to the mellow souls, or as it was then the dellarks CU. Gotta add Richards Searling who's shows on JFM acted as a catalyst to the revival of the scene in the late nineties.

Revilot -Jackey Beavers
lots of music, most, has 4 beats to the bar, Motown and traditional NS had a four on the fours beat, ie both drums, and all other percussion hit at the same time. It distiguishes it from othe dance genre's, disco, house funk ect. However there are loads of exceptions too.

Have You Ever Been Refused To Flyer Event
it wasn't direct pop at your views Kev, I know your soul's in the right place on this. I just get pissed at the commercial lot getting all eaten up about it about anyone flyering thier do's, if their in direct competition or not, at the end of the day the punters are free to make there own choice about where they go and stopping someone putting a few flyers out doesnt alter the fact. I also realise there are plenty of petty, purrile, tossers out there who do intentionally clash nights to cause friction and scupper others events. sad really. So I take your point that there does need to be some etiquette and common manners shown to avoid friction. But to be honest If someone comes to 'change' to put out flyers for a rival warm up for the kings hall, I gladly help them to put em out. honestly! I'd also attend their night, pull my 40 inch bags down and deficate on the dancefloor, in full veiw, and I do make that a promise! atb, geese.

now that is extracting the urine.

Have You Ever Been Refused To Flyer Event
Cant believe people are so bleeding fussy about this, personally I say it again, anyone who wont let you put a few poxy flyers out on a reportable underground scene, or at least one that has its roots in the underground, is a tosser! clear and simple. cant see anyone maning up to defend the practice of not allowing it, on here. but there plenty at it.

Exclusives On Flyers
I've seen one for 'Va vas' with named tunes on it like 'love and desire'

Have You Ever Been Refused To Flyer Event
this tends to be guys who are putting on events to make money, I've had a couple do it on me, but I'm not arsed, cant see what the problem.
