  1. Just received the above tome. After helping the delivery driver recover from the exertion of carrying it to the door(it weighs a ton) I am now beginning to make my way through it. It is a fantastic piece of work. I just hope I'm about long enough to get to the end of it.There are over 700 pages crammed with information and photos. It is a must have for any soul enthusiast with an interest in British soul. A well done to John and all the contributors.
  2. I have to agree with you.The wife and I saw her at the London Victoria Apollo in the early eighties when she was at her most soulful. I've seen quite a few live soul acts most have been excellent but Millie's the best
  3. One of the most covered/recorded songs ever.."STAG-O-LEE". I'd go for Lloyd Price or Pacific Gas &Electric
  4. Of the three UK issues imo 2 were reasonable/bargains.The third a bit over priced.
  5. That's a strange way for a record company to operate. How would they expect the product to be heard in th first place. It's not surprising they didn't have many soul hit singles
  6. I would have thought Polydor and other record labels would have pressed the same number of demo copies of every record they released and then forwarded them on to the same people/ radio stations every time. Therefore the only reason Jamo Thomas, Edwin Starr etc are "rare" is because they are tucked away in collections never to be seen rather than the number available.
  7. Sweet Thing by the Spinners tmg514 demo £1215 on manships auction tonight and not in the best condition.Dont see many though.
  8. Gospel Classics fair price
  9. Bobby womack "What is this?"Faster version than the minit release of a few years earlier. All the Bobby womacksJay boys I've seen have the four pronged centre. I have seen others on the label that have both middles .
  10. Kenny Bernard demo. Somebody got a bargain.
  11. It's good to see some passion on here...so long as it doesn't go to far. We can't agree on everything.
  12. The demo is a thing of beauty but you do see more of them than the issue.
  13. We can now add Fathers Angel's "Bok to Bach " MGM Demo to the list.
  14. PP Arnold less than half of what it usually goes for. Perhaps the autograph put buyers off
  15. Source store for new releases. Cheaper than the rest and same day service
  16. Spiral Starecase double what I would have expected.
  17. Have to agree a pop song....but then you have "I Can't Help Loving You " by the same artist 100% Northern soul.
  18. It is a pop/soul record yes.But it's a lot better vocally and easier to dance to than a lot of "rare" northern/modern/popcorn that go for hundreds of pounds on a daily basis.
  19. Bobby Paris £424 seems a bit on the high side
  20. It is a fantastic soul record. Superb vocal by LJ Reynolds. The b side is the instrumental which is also great.............but only worth a tenner! They had another release on Lawton "Let one hurt do" which is a brilliant ballad also a tenner. The instrumental b side was released in the UK with the young hearts on the b side in 72
  21. Soul City cameo demo a bargain.
  22. Arrived today. Another great record. 2 good sides. Thanks again
  23. https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/edwin-starr-if-my-heart-could-tell-the-story-blank-tamla-motown-tmg-692-dj.html This one just makes it.
  24. Tony Colton....somebody got a bargain! Well done.it doesn't happen very often.
