You 're not going mad , I remember that picture as well , though I seem to remember Richard was holding it .If I can be bothered to go up in the freezing cold loft I'll dig it out and post it up .Best wishes ,Eddie
  2. Well I intend to keep attending venues until I'm at least 65 , so that gives me at least another 12 ' ish years .There's a few people younger than me still going, so that should extend the scene for a few years more .I think long term it depends on our offsprings taking up the mantle and embracing the scene , and using Mum or Dad's vinyl no doubt , if we haven't sickened them enough already LOL... I think the scene at the moment newies wise is pretty good , at least there are some venues like USOS , 100 Club , Burnley , Move On ,Lifeline ,Dundee etc that are trying to play something different , ok the attendances aren't always earth shattering but at least some people still care about the original ethos of the scene , to travel crazy distances , meet like minded people and hear records you can't hear anywhere else .Anyway ,would the last person to leave the scene please turn the lights out ....Best wishes ,Eddie

  10. Thanks for that Dave , was only joking about Chinstrokers , sure they take it just as seriously as we do in Blighty , and judging by the amount of Deep Soul CD's and LP's that I've purchased from Japan , there must be a serious market for Soul music over there .Best wishes ,Eddie
  11. No Philly , I didn't notice any chinstrokers ...they seemed to be just enjoying the music for what it is , with no politics etc , I mean whats all that about , if they aren't gonna take it seriously - it'll never last !! .......Cheers Eddie

  15. Was in River Island today , and was about to leave when a record came on the in house system with the same backing track as Bobby Reed " The time is right for love " [ cue 50+ bloke stunned and staring into space , thinking have I died and gone to heaven ? ] Anyone know what it is , not saying it's brilliant , but that backing track is used throughout the record ......Best,Eddie
  16. Fantastic isn't it Gilly , any idea what that record is with the same backing as Cigarette Ashes is ? Best wishes ,Eddie

  19. Hiya Jamie , Soulshakers is on Loma , Len Jewell production , would have thought at least £200 , Deadbeats is on Strata , old Searling Wigan C/U , Valentinos has Womack on lead and Mike Terry on sax , £200? , Jack Montgomery is on Scepter , the classic double header , a Mike Terry produced masterpiece , bought mine " blind " for £4 in '79 , about £200 now .Saw a Bobby Reed last night for £400 , great Crossover flip too , oh and it's on Bell . Hope this helps ,Eddie

Hi Ady ,I was only 15 when this was released , but remember playing this at school dinner hours along the other massive record of that year Holland - Dozier " Why can't we be lovers " .Obviously I was a bit innocent record wise at the time , but remember the Damon Shawn quite a bit before Detroit Emeralds version , so was Damon first ? Doesn't differ too much from what I remember , but it was popular all over at the time , whether it got played at The Torch etc would be a question for our older Soul brothers I guess ? Best wishes ,Eddie

Hiya , think the George Jackson on Mercury is a different guy to the Fame one .Think the Mercury 45 is about £300 and brilliant ....Danny Cobus is an unissued Dave Hamilton production from Detroit .It gained release on the CD Dave Hamilton's Detroit Dancers Volume 2 .Hope this info helps and you are ok ,Best wishes ,Eddie
  24. Maybe thats a kosher track then , I do know it appeared at the same time as the other tracks so was roped in with them , can anyone confirm ? Best,Eddie
  25. Was it called " There is a heart " ? There was the vocal to " Rhino " - " Dreaming up a world of fantasy " and the vocal to " My Little Girl " - " My Sugar Baby " - Shirlie Matthews [ that wasn't bad as far as I remember ] , and the vocal to " Double Cookin ' " .I remember getting a list from Simon at the time 76- 77 ? Still got it somewhere ......Best,Eddie
