Sister Funk 2
Great new CD out this week from Jazzman records www.jazzmanrecords.co.uk " Sister Funk 2 " with 20 great tracks . Amongst the harder edged funk sides there are a few tracks that will appeal to Northern / Modern collectors : Rhetta Hughes " You're doing it with her " , a superb Mike Terry produced outing , Honey and The Bees " Love Addict " a wonderful Arctic label release , Big Ella " The Queen " which would go down well with the R& B crowd , Dolly Gilmore " Sweet Sweet Baby " , Barbara Mason's brilliant " You better stop it " another Arctic waxing , and the currently indemand ex Stafford side Florence Trapp " Love came into my life " .Great sleeve notes and label scans from compiler Ian Wright , one of the best compilations so far this year IMO .Best ,Eddie

Sir Guy On Dpg
Pulled out a ' 45 yesterday that I hadn't played for ages ,Sir Guy and The Rocking Cavaliers " My Sweet Baby " /" Funky Virginia " DPG 801 .The top side is in that Stafford crossover kinda style , whilst the flip side is in a great Deep Funk meets Northern vein , and far better than the title suggests .Any one got an opinion on this disc , and whats it worth ? Many thanks ,Eddie

- What Was The First 12"
I always thought the first UK Soul 12" was Undisputed Truth " You + me = love "[Whitfield ] Anyone confirm ? Best ,Eddie- What You Bought This Week ?
Got Barbara Jean English " Comin ' or goin ' and Rose Royce " Best love " UK Epic after reading about it on here , Barbara is a beautiful flowing 70's side .Best ,Eddie- Good Records
Yes Fort Laudedale , roughly translated as Uncle Simon I suspect !! He did play some great stuff in the early days tho ' Pain in my heart - Poppies and Stronger than her love -Flirtations were two records I heard via Russ .Best ,Eddie- Artists Posters, Photo's And Stuff

- Mixed Feelings " Sha La La "
Thanks Ged , thats the secret isn't it , getting ' em before the rush !! Best ,Eddie- Mojo Records (polydor)
Yes I'd like to see a Mojo album listing too .I've found it difficult to find many Mojo albums , the " Workin " compilation was my introduction to Soul music , great set with Northern and Funk side by side , took me ages to find a clean copy .Best ,Eddie- Mojo Records (polydor)
One of my favourite double siders on Mojo is Art Gentry - Wonderful Dream / Breakthrough , the top side is a great version of a superb George [ Bart ] Jackson song on Decca , whilst Breakthrough is a wonderful crossover styled outing .Best ,Eddie- Richard Searling, Newies Spot, Wigan Casino 1979
Too true Russ , it worked at The Colony Club ,Newbury , didn't it mate ? Best Wishes ,Eddie- Mixed Feelings " Sha La La "
Many thanks Bjorn78 and everyone else who helped with my request , any idea what year this was released ? Is it an 80's record? Thanks a million ,Eddie- Mixed Feelings " Sha La La "
Has anyone got an mp3 of Mixed Feelings " Sha la la " please ? Best Wishes ,Eddie- A Night At Wigan Casino
Hello Pete ,I thought it might have been recorded off the stage as I did one on a ghetto blaster around 1980 and it came out brilliantly .Sadly ,I lend it to a mate to copy , he put it in the wrong deck and wiped it - gutted !! Best ,Eddie- A Night At Wigan Casino
Thanks for posting this up Pete , great quality as well , what part of the hall did you record it , as Searling comes across really clear ? What I'd give for just one more night at the Casino ..........Best Wishes ,Eddie- Why Do You Bother?
Good point Mel , the whole point of the scene used to be based on the fact that you had to travel to certain venues , in order to hear records that you couldn't possibly hear elsewhere , Blackpool Mecca for example . Best ,Eddie - What Was The First 12"
