  3. Great new CD out this week from Jazzman records www.jazzmanrecords.co.uk " Sister Funk 2 " with 20 great tracks . Amongst the harder edged funk sides there are a few tracks that will appeal to Northern / Modern collectors : Rhetta Hughes " You're doing it with her " , a superb Mike Terry produced outing , Honey and The Bees " Love Addict " a wonderful Arctic label release , Big Ella " The Queen " which would go down well with the R& B crowd , Dolly Gilmore " Sweet Sweet Baby " , Barbara Mason's brilliant " You better stop it " another Arctic waxing , and the currently indemand ex Stafford side Florence Trapp " Love came into my life " .Great sleeve notes and label scans from compiler Ian Wright , one of the best compilations so far this year IMO .Best ,Eddie

  6. Pulled out a ' 45 yesterday that I hadn't played for ages ,Sir Guy and The Rocking Cavaliers " My Sweet Baby " /" Funky Virginia " DPG 801 .The top side is in that Stafford crossover kinda style , whilst the flip side is in a great Deep Funk meets Northern vein , and far better than the title suggests .Any one got an opinion on this disc , and whats it worth ? Many thanks ,Eddie

  21. Hello Pete ,I thought it might have been recorded off the stage as I did one on a ghetto blaster around 1980 and it came out brilliantly .Sadly ,I lend it to a mate to copy , he put it in the wrong deck and wiped it - gutted !! Best ,Eddie
  22. Thanks for posting this up Pete , great quality as well , what part of the hall did you record it , as Searling comes across really clear ? What I'd give for just one more night at the Casino ..........Best Wishes ,Eddie
  23. Good point Mel , the whole point of the scene used to be based on the fact that you had to travel to certain venues , in order to hear records that you couldn't possibly hear elsewhere , Blackpool Mecca for example . Best ,Eddie
