  2. To all members, due to personal matters today, no update was listed for Anglo American Auction, End Thu 19th June 2025. As soon as the actual results are available i will post here as normal. Sorry for any inconvenience caused and apologies to all concerned.
  3. When Chris King & Terry Sampson formed the Notts & Lincs Soul Club, they took on Birmingham Locarno which became a fortnightly All Dayer on Sundays. Brian was i think, the first name on the list there...that's how i got to know.....not considerably as long as many others on here but, i came to know him and saw him dj everywhere else after that...would've been 77/78 period. I asked him if he would dj at my 21st Birthday party...he even brought the equipment!, a night i'll never forget. A genuinely friendly, warm, honest guy, laid back...djing was a natural for him and he was followed and adored by many. He's now at peace, free of the shackles of illness...for us who remain, his passing brings great sorrow but safe in the knowledge we experienced some wonderful times in his company, wherever we originate from...he will be wholeheartedly missed. God rest your soul in peace. Brian Rae 16 - 06 - 2025 R.I.P.
  4. He's A Wrong Number - Canadian Polydor or, preferably U.S. release ( Admiral ) Quote price please
  5. There was blues beforehand, rhythm added to make it uplifting though by definition the music was about the continual struggle in life for afro-americans. I couldn't pick a particular song that defines the start or even the end and as for personally, i wouldn't have realized i was listening to the genre that has permeated our scene for so long because i would've classed it as soul music, it was all the same to me so long as you could dance to it?
  6. Already said here but, it remains that the Four Vandals involved real musicians and real singer. Just an attempt to duplicate the sound of the 60's and fool everyone into thinking it was actually a previously undiscovered tune, in the event djs got duped as well..a particular confrontation at the Kings Hall Stoke springs to mind when the truth got out😲🤣 though it wasn't funny in that moment. AI with regards music, is 100% invention, the human being still has to teach it first
  7. The lp came out here on both Mojo and Djm. In the states, Upfront and Canyon
  8. Agreed, top quality, use no one else.
  9. Grand every day of the week it seems now....

  14. Karl elluded to different versions on singles as opposed to lp cuts. The Exits " Gotta Have Money " is longer on the Guiness album, with extra verses Bobby Freeman's " I'll Never Fall In Love Again " is a totally different version on lp as opposed to single.
  15. The lp version of course, is the full length version ( well...on the Starline Budget lp it is )
  16. Besides..it has that undeniable Stax ' sound ' about it, even given the full orchestration....the company was still holding to it's rnb orientated roots and ethic even as late as 69.
  17. Used to get a lot of spins, i remember from almost 30 years ago at least, truth be told probably well before that too...a great tune that maybe been largely forgotten because of the fact it's lp only.
  18. Original take of Love Is A Funny Thing ( John Wesley-Melic ) Ain't Gonna Move is good as well. Not a duff track on the album.
  19. Been featured on fb by Mr. Dewhirst about 3 weeks ago, and yes..2 releases of the album with differing rpms, ordered a ' fast ' one from abroad recently, been played before quite a long 5ime ago now but, still going to be an unknown to the vast majority i think?....so much to be said for lp tracks!
  20. German yes, i have this..was JV's copy when he sold up about 5 years ago. As for their 7's, most came out on Charay
  21. The only Epic recordings released in the uk were: Check Out The Groove ( 1980 ) and The Very Last Drop ( 1981 ) Just Ask Me didn't get a 7 release anywhere until 2001, on Expansion. It was released a second time, again via Expansion, in 2012 The album only appeared here for the first time, also via Expansion. The original album, on Mainline, came out in 1978
  22. The lp was reissued by Expansion. The track came out as a 7 by them but, long since deleted and hard to find/not cheap now
  23. Released here, in 2013 on Outta Sight ( legit ) also released in Japan on a repro BRC 7" in 2020.....great track, never heard it before. Original lp still available.
