  1. I may be wrong but I don't think there is any way Stardust could have got the rights to every single record they felt like releasing
  2. I remain unconvinced about that one.
  3. Well can't play it at the moment but the credit on the sleeve is to The Flirtations. Don't think it came out on a cd either.
  4. Kev I think it's the vocal on Record Collector not the instrumental?

I love to hear DJ mixing, I even do it myself (cheating, obviously) but as I said, just wouldn't like to hear it done with 60's tracks

I'm sure they are but you can't do that with the typical mid 60's archetypal Northern sound, and why would anyone want to? 70's, 80's, 90's music you can, and it works - wouldn't like to hear it done with 60's records as I like to be told what they are for a start!

Sorry but when you talk about B-Boys and beat matching...I ask again, what's that got to do with Northern Soul?
  8. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
But what's that got to do with Northern Soul?

You don't need any techincal skills whatsoever to be a "Northern Soul" dj, you just have to learn how to cue in a record. The skill is putting together the right set, in the right order, for the right audience. That's it. You could DJ off an old Dansette, it wouldn't make any difference.
  10. And the best one
  11. And here...
  12. That guy The Count?
  13. If it were me, I'd report him to Ebay and tell him to shove the record, who wants to deal with someone like that?
  14. Blue Beat was the generic term for ska, rocksteady and reggae as late as 1969 when it all started to become called Reggae, one of the music mags had a regular Blue Beat column.
  15. Those albums contained 45's popular over a two year period so they both include Ska and Rocksteady.
  16. I never collected them so don't know really, one Oriole demo I had but have never been able to place is Jackie Trent - The One Who Really Loves You, really good Motown cover
  17. But you're buying in bulk so that would be way over the top. Not worth more than £1000 in my opinion.
  18. Thanks very much Steve. Just what I always wanted to see - masses of record labels in one place!
  19. It is indeed Steve Jeffries on rarenorthernsoul.com
  20. "Rare acetate" the High Keys b/w The Poppies yep, must be worth all of £5 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ACETATE-HIGH-KEYS-LIVIN-A-LIE-POPPIES-THERES-A-PAIN-IN-MY-HEART-1965-6-/141256797493?pt=UK_Records&hash=item20e38fad35
  21. Nah it's a great record - if you remove the Northern connotations - I love 60's tv themes
  22. General consensus was it ruined it!
