  1. Here is the alternate version, I have to say I have never heard this in my life and it's f*cking excellent
  2. Must have been. October 1972 original issue date.
  3. Oh right sorry, thought you meant using the backing track off Frankie Valli
  4. You sure they didn't fiddle about with the original? Marv Johnson must have been out of contract with Motown when that was recorded
  5. No this might be another version, think he said Frankie Valli starts the song off where he doesn't on all other versions.

Well the backing track is the original 60's backing that The Holidays used for their version
  7. Someone was saying the other day they have a version where the vocals are different at the start, Australian version maybe?
  8. Misprint - they didn't go as far as that catalogue number.

They probably just got her to sing over the original backing track when she was in the UK, the instrumental came out on Goldmine years ago.
  10. The reality is that a mentally impaired person paid three times what it's worth...John Manship could sell Footsee for £200, why would you use his auctions as a benchmark?
  11. Joe, not that I'm bothered or anything, I'm just fascinated to know how they read them on here if they haven't got pc's
  12. I think you're spot on, I've never sold one for more than that and that's what I'd ask.

If you do an Ebay search for seller name Enthucol he has the biggest stock of repress in the UK I think. I definitely got one off him when I sold my original.
  15. Ruled out the two 'Rocks" as still get played a lot on the radio but did think of QOC but then forgot it! I could have sworn I included NYC already, must have forgotten that as well. Was thinking about stuff like "High Wire", "Swing Your Daddy", "Shame Shame Shame", "Tell Me What You Want"...it's disco but not horrible soulless late 70's disco. Also oddballs that were massive massive records but have been binned for being sh*te, I'm thinking of stuff like The Peppers - Pepper Box, that one even had it's own dance

  17. I promised two volumes but people kept pointing out to me tracks I'd missed so here's another episode of Youth Club Classics, the sun is out for once and this selection should keep the feel good factor going! Not so much Northern this time as I was trying to remember some of the more popular commercial tunes that were big back then. I've armed myself with three years worth of Black Music magazines so that I can refer to the charts of 1973/74/75 and come up with more ideas for future episodes. I managed to resist the temptation to use any Gary Glitter and Slade, both were huge in the early 70's and constantly played in youth clubs at the time. Then again, so was Lieutenant Pigeon... 18. It's almost ready, I just have to mix it, this time I've included a few commercial things like Jesse Green, Jimmy Bo Horne (GimmeSome), Al Matthews etc, just so people didn't think it was all full on Northern back then...Middleman I know what you're saying about the feel good factor - absolutely
  19. I think it does in some circumstances. I was in the co-op yesterday and from nowhere, Road Runner by Jr Walker blasted out on the Co-Op radio, a record I've heard a million times but it sounded utterly fantastic in that setting, an unexpected slice of classic Motown while on a cider buying mission, perfect...
  20. I'm not sure if that's all the boots
  21. No, never even knew about it
  22. Did anyone catch that book by Garry Bushell that came out last year, Time For Action - The Mod Revival 1978-1981? To be honest I only bought it because I know in 2 or 3 years time it'll be worth something but I read it and thought it was great, reprints all the original articles and adverts from Sound magazine for a start, great stuff.
  23. I think it was "You left the water running", I'm sure it was...
