Name Your Top Ten Ska And Reggae
It's like when any 'sound' changes Frank, you can either go with it and see where it ends up or stick to what you like, Reggae in the 70's, although I used to buy a single every other week with my pocket money, never went anywhere for me. When I was a bit older, in the late 70's and onwards, I really loved dub and the dj (toasting) records and still do...but you know when people quote say Heart Of The Congos as being the best reggae album ever, I couldn't listen to more than one track without falling asleep. It's the same as asking a 50's R&B fan to start buying 80's electro music.

What Do You Do With Your Record Collection, Play It Or Just Store It?
If you think about it, your 50 plus, many more are 60 plus, what would you rather have, 10,000 singles or the money from 10,000 singles to share with your family? I know what I'd prefer. Money money money every time. 20 years ago I'd have said records records records.

Name Your Top Ten Ska And Reggae
Yes basically, all these horrible roots and 'normal' reggae records from the 70's and 80's, I class these at about the same level as most 70's soul, it's pointless, meaningless, it has no energy and while I do appreciate the vocals, the musicians and the producers, many of whom are geniuses, the actual music is as uninteresting as anything I've ever heard. I wouldn't miss it if it all disappeared over night. Sorry. Just my opinion, I'm sure many of you feel the same way about decent Jamaican music from the 60's

What Do You Do With Your Record Collection, Play It Or Just Store It?
I'd be quick then because in 10 years time, there are going to be literally thousands of northern soul 45's floating around that nobody wants. Our kids don't want them, and we're all getting older and older...I also predict that in 10 years time cd's will have been phased out completely. yours, Nostradamus (Mrs.)

What Do You Do With Your Record Collection, Play It Or Just Store It?
One of the best ways to listen to music nowadays is just to put itunes on 'itunes DJ', it'll play you a constant stream of random tracks and every day you'll hear something new
-
What Do You Do With Your Record Collection, Play It Or Just Store It?
This is so true. I used to love doing c90 tapes of my records, then cd's. Though I usually put the same records on each one even nowadays I often don;t think it's "worth" playing records unless I'm recording them for a compilation.

The Invitations, whats Wrong With Me Baby,
The original is on Dynovoice, white label with coloured design - bootleg is a pale blue label. Think it's also on unrelated labels like Candelite as well.

What Do You Do With Your Record Collection, Play It Or Just Store It?
Don't know really, depends what a collection is I suppose, Northern wise, only got a handful as I have to sell them for a living, I have 400+ ska/reggae/rocksteady records but those are handpicked, not just anything that crops up, thats my real collection, I have a box of about 400 new wave/punk/post punk 45's in the shed, and maybe 1000 what you'd call 50's to 70's pop records in boxes in the shed as well. Got no room for them in the house. Rarely play anything except the reggae as I have everything in itunes. I'd say I probably have around 75,000 'tracks'. Nobody could ever listen to that lot in a lifetime.

Template For Printing 7" Labels
Mark there's a fantastic site which has 'blanks' of most well known USA labels - the proper labels but with no text written on them, they look absolutely brilliant. Only problem is, someone gave me the link on the proviso I kept it to myself, so maybe someone out there knows what it is and wants to share it.

The 1St Northern Soul App On Apple
Well done Kev shame you couldn't have incorporated a price guide into it! (That wasn't a joke) The possibilities with this sort of thing are endless, I might start looking into this, how to develop an app etc.
-
Spyder Turner - I Can't Make It Anymore - Other Version
I think the Ritchie Havens version is really nice but it doesn't hold a candle to the Spyder Turner version. Di is right when she says it's more like elevator music, it's chill out music plain and simple. It's also been played for over 20 years.
