Outstanding Contribution Award
Sorry to be a wet blanket but like Simsy said, this topic has been done before, and it was a pretty thorough one too, just can't see the point in doing the same identical thing again. But if I have to vote I'll vote for Ian Levine.

Mr Manships Auction Results 19-10-2011
This means that the Radiants demo is now 'worth more' than Alexander Patten demo, Cajun Hart, John Andrews, Vala Reegan, well basically think of a UK rarity except for the huge ones like D Banks London, Timi Yuro and this one is worth more. To someone I guess.

Are C.d's On The Way Out ?
Do you know what, if Ace put together a compilation of say 50 of their greatest CD booklets, blown up to an A4 size book, it would be one of the best music books ever made. Throw in a double cd featuring one track off each of the featured cd's - heaven.

Which Celebrities Have You Seen Dancing At A Soul Night
Win, Karl Henry couldn't have appeared on Question Time anyway, he'd have got to the main door then gone backwards, gone back to the door and then gone sideways....for the next 90 minutes

Which Celebrities Have You Seen Dancing At A Soul Night

Whats The Original 7 Inch Issue Of Sweet Sherry?
Ian, the green Groovesville bootleg was so early it may have even have been from the Cats period. It was certainly around when I first got on the scene in 1974/75

New Podcast My Kind Of Oldies
Well they are certainly all off vinyl It missed the start off Locke, it split it into 2 tracks, the intro then what comes after the pause - decided to just leave the intro off altogether. I'd never sell that one I don't think.

Run A Venue ? Do You Play Ovo?
This really should be the bottom line for this topic.

Are C.d's On The Way Out ?
Don't get me wrong, vinyl records are a very important part of my life and have been for 50 years but itunes enables me to store 25,000+ tracks in one place and manipulate them however I want! The playlist facility is one of THE great inventions. Want to do a themed playlist for example with the word Star in it, takes 2 seconds to find me 50 records with the word Star in the title. Would have taken a whole afternoon to research all my lp's and 45's.

Are C.d's On The Way Out ?
Yeah great news and I"m sure it is - but just taking me for example, my cd consumption has gone from 'a lot' to zero in the space of maybe 4 years

Run A Venue ? Do You Play Ovo?
I pity the kids if you're the f*cking babysitter "no you can't watch that episode of Magic Roundabout, it's been overdubbed, it's not the original"

Are C.d's On The Way Out ?
Been saying this for a couple of years but it's not to do with vinyl, it's to do solely with itunes. I imported all my cd's into itunes then sold the lot, and thats what an awful lot of people are doing. It's flexible, it's interesting, it's just brilliant. Why buy a cd for one or two good tracks when you can buy them for 99p each? (Apparently thats what people do) And it's only in these last few years when the record companies realised they could no longer overcharge for their product that they've actually reduced the prices of cd's - remember how long we had to pay 12, 13 quid for a cd?

Run A Venue ? Do You Play Ovo?
This I agree with - if it's a nighter, it should be OVO. My point has always been that at local soul nights, handbag nights etc, it makes not a lot of difference.

Instant Monster - Then Forgot About
Definitely Kenny Ballard but I don't think it's on the tape with Footsee etc, must be a different one I posted up

Run A Venue ? Do You Play Ovo?
I must get my 2 year old in here and stress to her that when she grows up, she must never buy an evil bootleg or goodness knows what it could do to her integrity.

Run A Venue ? Do You Play Ovo?
You're right, that 50% aren't interested in soul forums at all, let alone records and labels. It's such a boring, overdone thread, no wonder people get fed up reading the same thing over and over again. Half the people don't care about OVO and the ones that do should surely know which venues to pick to hear their music from original vinyl only, shouldn't they?
