Soul Records Down In Price? Non Soul Up In Price?
I know people will find this hard to believe but I got a copy of the butcher cover out of a shop in Eastbourne, the guy who ran the shop, Paul, was amazing at finding records, it was like a junk shop really but from there I got things like Anthony & the Aqualads, Detroit Spinners I'll always love you red and white demo, Lewis Sisters r & w demo...anyway he said see if you can sell it and take half the money, it was a pasteover and not in great nick, think I got 200 quid for it, that would have been in around 1994

My copy of that only made £500, was bought by a museum in New York. Slipped through the net I guess.

What Rare Record Have You Accidentally Broken ?
Around 2007 I had a copy of Joanne Courcey and Max wanted it, so I said I'll drive over with it, just to be safe I thought I'd pack it in a mailer and as I put it in, I put my thumb through it and cracked it. Took it to Max, he loved it, didn't see the crack (it was very hard to see) and went to give me the £600 we had agreed on and then I said Max, have a good look at it...and I sold it for £200...

Demo isn't worth £250 Chalky, more like £150. In my opinion. None of those MGM demos are rare.

New Lable Advice Please
Sorry mate it's just one of those things that bug me, like people who write b-b-q
-
Carol & Gerri Stock Copies
Typically last time I had one, going back ten years now, nobody wanted it, think I got £70 for it. Think I paid £50 for it. About a month later they started playing the b side and off it went. I'd want £250/£300 next time.

New Lable Advice Please
People won't buy them on 10" Simon, like someone above said, you can't keep them in your 7" singles boxes, sounds like stating the obvious but I've got 5 or 6 acetate which are 10" and I often forget I've even got them as they are stored with lp's. Besides, 7" records are incredibly cheap to have pressed nowadays. p.s. there's no such word as lable

Volcanos - Laws Of Love
Well if I described it as an original, I'd expect it to be one, and if I did and it's not - I'd give you your money back!

Vala Reegan "fireman" On Uk Atlantic
Dave, sorry but I swapped it for Dean Courtney - Love you just can't walk away - MGM demo.
-
Volcanos - Laws Of Love
Why are the cheaper - because they came out in 1974 or 5. The blue and whites like that scan have always been regarded as first bootlegs then reissues. I'd be interested to see pic of a blue label reissue next to a blue label original.

Clock On The Wall
Dark blue label? If so, same as the one I had.

Clock On The Wall
Great track, I just remember getting it on a tape with no info whatsoever, I called it Wendy Andrews because that was the name of my girlfriend (and soon to be ex-wife), and it was on a CD I put out of ultra rare tracks at the end of the 90s'. Never knew who had the original until now. Coincidentally, I got a record by a 'real' Wendy Andrews a few years back.

Film: Lost Vinyl Gems Of The 60's Episode 2 Now Online
Hi folks, Pete Smith here, I'm back with another selection of interesting/rare/unsual/awful 45's from the 60's. As with the previous episode, this is all done live on a hand held camera and is not intended to be a candidate for an Oscar nomination, it's just a look at some vinyl records and an opportunity to hear something that you may never have got around to otherwise. http://vimeo.com/29280211 This episode actually ran to 70 minutes so I've split it into two equal parts, the next one will be posted up this coming monday as I'm only allowed 500MB uploads per week. I've left the mistakes and cursing in! Oh and thanks for the really encouraging response to the previous episode, all the comments were much appreciated. Records reviewed in this episode include... THE ASTORS – CANDY – ATLANTIC DEMO THE ANGLOS – INCENSE – BRIT THE KNIGHT BROS – TEMPTATION ‘BOUT TO GET ME – CHESS DEMO JOHNNY PEARSON – THE RAT CTACHERS – COLUMBIA CAROL DEENE – HE JUST DON’T KNOW – COLUMBIA DEMO NANCY AMES – FRIENDS AND LOVERS FOREVER – COLUMBIA DEMO HELEN SHAPIRO – HE KNOWS HOW TO LOVE ME – COLUMBIA HELEN SHAPIRO – STOP AND YOU WILL BECOME AWARE – COLUMBIA ELENA – EVENING TIME – COLUMBIA THE JULIAN KIRSCH – CLEVER LITTLE MAN – COLUMBIA DEMO THE THIRD RAIL – RUN, RUN, RUN – COLUMBIA DEMO ADAM WADE – RAIN FROM THE SKIES – COLUMBIA KAROL KEYES – ONE IN A MILLION – COLUMBIA DEMO GENE LATTER – WAYS – CBS GENE LATTER – FUNNY FACE GIRL – CBS THE BUCKINGHAMS – DON’T YOU CARE – CBS DEMO BIG BOY PETE – COLD TURKEY – CAMP JERRY JACKSON – IT’S ROUGH OUT THERE – CAMEO PARKWAY DEMO ? & THE MYSTERIANS – 8 TEEN – CAMEO PARKWAY MICKY MOONSHINE – NAME IT YOU GOT IT – DECCA DEMO TRULY SMITH – MY SMILE IS JUST A FROWN – DECCA DEMO MIA LEWIS – WISH I DIDN’T LOVE HIM – DECCA DEMO THE CLOCKWORK ORANGES – READY STEADY – EMBER DEMO THE CALIFORNIA IN CROWD – HAPPINESS IN MY HEART – FONTANA SLADE – THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME – FONTANA THE GOLDEN APPLES OF THE SUN – THE MONKEY TIME – IMMEDIATE THE GOLDEN APPLES OF THE SUN – CHOCOLATE ROLLS, TEA AND MONOPOLY – IMMEDIATE site note - see comments for part 2

Auctions Changing The Dynamic Of Collecting?
See this is where it just goes mental - Susan Barrett, presume you are talking about a black RCA copy, £200 sensible price, £300 tops, £400 is a joke and £600 is farcial. just because you love Johnny On The Spot, that doesn't hide the fact that copies have turned up, the price has gone down and it was only mediocre in the first place. Going by the records you're talking about, you don't have to worry about the pennies, lots of others do though and the original question was whether it's right to suddenly bump up the price of something just because a nutcase pays twice it's true value in an auction. * Mick Smith told me to say that now that Susan Barrett is worth £600 apparently, he'll sell his for £500.
