  1. Really reminds me of Wigan too. One of the few big sounds that was never botlegged or pressed.
  2. Care to expand on that?
  3. Where the f*ck do you get your records from, gobsmacked again here.
  4. Yeah that was it, I knew it looked a bit like it!
  5. What actually is a 'Soulful Penguin'?
  6. I, personally, would have said £600 - well if I was selling it thats what I'd ask - not that I'm likely to get one
  7. No I wasn't making any reference to Rob Neil, he's 100% ok apart from the fact he never f&ckin shuts up and you can't get a word in edgeways
  8. Theres a more recent boot with a lookalike label
  9. That copy must have been cracked!
  10. Gypsy by Dry Well.. Yes, same song/version. Must surely be post-Wigan, I never heard it til mid 80's
  11. A couple of the times in the 90's I got asked to write sleeve notes for Northern cd's. On two occasions they used my notes but put someone else's name on them as author. I also remember an article on UK Northern Soul in Record Collector and the whole article was nicked from my Beatin Rhythm magazine. When I complained, they were good enough to let me write a few more articles under my own name so that worked out ok. p.s. the book was brilliant Neil, don't let anyone tell you different - if they can do better, let them try.
  12. Tighten Up and Young Gifted & Black both indispensable books, the very best written about Jamaican music in the UK
  13. So am I - it's rather brilliant, anyone slagging this off just because of who it is needs to listen again, perfect mid-60's pop/soul beat ballad. Sometimes you lot are so blinkered.
  14. He's trying to wind me up
  15. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-NORTHERN-SOUL-ALBUMS-2000-TRACKS-DVD-CD-VESPA-MOD-/280506122191?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Records&hash=item414f77bfcf Maybe not the entire catalogue but loads of them for sale in this advert, on one disc. I'm not posting it to go on about the rights and wrongs of it, I just wondered if Goldmine Soul Supply was still an ongoing concern and could they do anything about it, or have the rights to all these cd's reverted back to the parent companies?

Funnily enough it's called the Ferguson Kitchinette

I managed to get some photos but they were taken in the garage so they are not great, the whole unit is in need of a clean. It has 4 legs which screw in, I took these off when we moved. Like I say, probably not what you're after.

I've got a beautiful one in my garage, it would be a bit hard to explain what it looks like (it's cream and maroon with a polished wooden top) has sliding doors that open from the middle, valve radio obviously and record deck, I think it still has the circular piece of paper giving instructions on the turntable. I bought it in about 1992 (was a lot of money back then even) but have never had room for it anywhere. I've never seen another one like it. Maybe not what you're looking for but I'll send you some photos if you want to have a look. I think it's one of the first stereo ones.
  19. 1) if thats a sales ad why not put it in sales and 2) that's £50 too expensive
  20. Has to be said that it is rare, and still highly sought after, hence the price, I've kept my VG one and I wouldn't sell it, not even for £500, because I couldn't replace it.
  21. Copy of the Italian John St John (Chapter 5) just gone up, seller won't even give real artist name or label! https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/7-CHAPTER-FIVE-YOU-CANT-MEAN-ORIGINAL-NORTHERN-66-/250636440303?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Records&hash=item3a5b1892ef
  22. I did, it was my own fault, I'd downloaded an IP blocker and it was that that triggered their security
  23. Logged into paypal and it's asking for information on either my bank account or my credit card (multiple choice) then the next page it's telling me to change the password. It appears to be the proper site with the https address https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_home&country_lang.x=true I find it a bit strange that they are asking for this except the site looks spot on and I haven't accessed it from an email, I just accessed it from a bookmark. Any thoughts?
  24. I could do you over 50 of these just by British artists on British labels of the 60's. Except I've got to go to the doctors...
  25. you're defining GREAT soul music by this track?
