  1. I'm so glad you and Sean said all this because if I'd have come on here and said that I'd have been crucified and told I was only saying it for effect or because it's 70's or whatever, but it's f*cking awful and you lot must be very easily pleased if you think thats better than the jackson Sisters version. What a waste of bandwidth.
  2. Damn, I was going to list one of those today!
  3. Thought it was worth a gamble, I'd never heard of it, think definitely white (from a place called Mattapoisett, Mass., but that backing track is thunderous - so probably worth that £13.52p I paid for it!
  4. Probably blue eyed but great production...is this known? (clip below)
  5. It was, first and possibly only person to play it was Pep, august/september 77, remember the dates because we were Pep semi-groupies and can name nearly all his spins from that time.
  6. Bowie played twice at the Hard Rock, first was apparently the opening night, second was on the Aladdin Sane tour may or june 73, I've got rubbish quality tapes of both of those gigs. 28/12/72 and 7/6/73
  7. Jay D Martin and John Bowie were late 76 early 77, unless they were played, dropped and revived again - not on any of my early tapes

Thanks Dave. yes it is, near mint, £175, or someone else had a VG+ one for £225.
  10. This is quite nice, sort of r & b meets rock & roll, bloomin' early, January 1958, but very playable I reckon? is it well known, being played, worth much - I paid £40.
  11. If your moneys that tight and you want me to knock even more money of something I've already reduced by £45, why've you got several hundred quids worth of wants in the WANTS section, I must be a right mug offering to knock another fiver off. Thankfully I sold it to someone willing to pay what I was asking. people on here, it gets worse, one bloke this morning wanting a record I'd reduced by a tenner for another fiver off as long as I pay the postage. It's not a f*cking charity, it's my living.
  12. I already knocked 20 quid off it! Can't take less than 75 sorry.
  13. They are both stunning, but so hard to price Steve. I honestly don't know but must be a couple of hundred each at least.
  14. Spook's info (from manships book) is right. I didn't believe there was a counterfeit either until I saw two together and was forced to eat humble pie

  16. There was no credit on the acetate, just the title, which was incorrect...I sussed out straight away that it was Mike terry, Uriel Jones, Popcorn Wylie just by listening to it, then thought well I might as well call it Carl Carlton as it's feasible that they all worked together around that time (65). I gave it to John Manship to sell, he said he thought it was a girl, so I changed it from Little Carl to Little Car(o)l as a joke really. I made one carver of it, for myself, apart from the different take that Kitch plays, there's only the original acetate and my carver, so if anyone wants to buy it off me they can, with a guarantee there will never be another copy cut.

  18. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
Re Love Music, suddenly everyone found out it was available on a 99p Philips budget album from your local newsagents so there were suddenly hundreds of copies of the LP in the record bar
  19. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
No don't bow to anything, but I honestly never heard anyone else play it - at Wigan.
  20. Why? It's not 1975 anymore. Who cares? They can do a Blue peter appeal to rebuild Wigan casino for all I care. Anything to get new people on the scene.

  23. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
Dave, I swear to you, I went practically evey week in 1977 and nobody except Russ played Love Music, I must have half a dozen tapes with him playing it.
  24. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
Sorry, I did go for years and Russ's first spot was as good as any you'd hear all night, especially the period mid 76 to mid 77, after that until I stopped going late 78, he was ok not brilliant, but to slag him off like all of you lot are doing just proves you don't have a clue what you're talking about or have very selective memory, try listening to that tape I posted up from february 77 for a fantastic Russ spot. Want to hear Richard playing My hearts Symphony, I can post it up for you. (Russ was also first to play Judy Street by the way).
