I was there the first time this was played at Wigan, it was played again half an hour later, the next week everyone was talking about it and within 3 weeks it was the biggest record - people tend to forget or try to pretend we didn't play and like records like this, well we did and at the time it was alright, now it's not, no big deal.

Can't see how anyone can say Muriel day isn't a good pop record, it should have been an A side, it might have charted. As a Northern record - it has it's place, but that place is in a dark cupboard.

Dave's right, no such thing as a yellow UK MGM demo - unless it's an issue with a not for sale sticker on, in which case it's worth no more than the issue
  4. HAVE MARKED ALL ONES THAT ARE SOLD, ANYONE WANTS ANYTHING THAT'S LEFT I'LL DO FREE POSTAGE, CHEERS
  5. I didn't think it was ever played anywhere, thought it was just a collectors record. Was it definitely played at Stafford? It was on my wants list, Gene R got me my first one, that would be 88-89 maybe a year later, it was £25 then, when I sold it 2 years later I said someone ought to take a gamble on this, I got £60 for it, cut to 5 years later, it's gone to £100, then £200 and so on. I've had 3 issues and 2 demos since, tough record though.

I'm confused now, I just went to put something on ebay and it's exactly the same as it always is, nothing about free postage?
  8. Always seem to be Chicago labels
  9. If they don't sell for 75 grand, does ebay still take a cut?
  10. He might have a chance of selling them if he told us what they were!

You know what though benji, I'm sure I already have these requirements ticked - also, three people on my blocked bidders list have got through recently - how the hell does that happen!

i HAD 6 REGGAE RECORDS END ON SATURDAY, 5 OF THEM WERE RUINED AND WON BY A FAKE BIDDER, A FAKE BIDDER WHO RUINED A TOTAL OF OVER 60 AUCTIONS IN ONE DAY, I'VE LOST COUNT OF THE AMOUNT OF TIMES THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED TO EBAY BUT STILL THEY DO NOTHING ABOUT IT.
  14. My Informers - baby set me free - Blackjack just arrived from the States, although it cost a few hundred dollars I asked them to put $20 as the value, anyway those sneaky customs people actually opened the package and searched for a receipt to see if the sender was lying, fortunately there was none in there otherwise I'd have been paying £100 in charges. What bugs me is that I still don't think they can charge this sort of amount on used second hand goods.

  16. No it's not a book, it's a pc program, a searchable database - absolutely invaluable for identifying blanks. (If you can't find one, let me know) It has no listing for that title at all (goodness knows why they called it that, though he does have a track called Kinky Griner or Grinder). I must have two dozen records on the Prince Buster label, various colours, they are a right mess and very difficult to date but most are represses - I have a Big Youth on Prince Buster which is a blue label so maybe blue ones are new product and white are reissues.
  17. OK once and for all, your record is a reissue, the original is on Olive Blossom and the matrix is PB 144. the UK release is on Fab 40, both came out in 68. If it were sold at Busters shop as a pre, it would be on an Olive Blossom blank. Source is Roots Knotty Roots which catalogues over 50,000 jamaican and UK reggae/ska releases, gives matrixes, dates, producers, labels etc. p.s. if your record is at least 30 years old that would make it from 1979
  18. Tim's right, it's a reissue.
  19. Is actually Demetriss Trapp. She made loads of records in the 60's, must have been well known
  20. Thats Playboys spelt backwards just in case anyone didn't notice

No never booted. Seen it at 100. I'd ask 75 which I think is a more realistic price.
  22. He was suspended I think. I thought he was a really good poster, spoke a lot of sense and truth, but went over the top
  23. Easy one - bootleg is styrene, original is vinyl
  24. Yes they seem to use any available source so while some are perfect quality, others are recorded from very low quality mp3's obviously downloaded from the net. I have to say though, some of the compilations are very imaginitive and interesting.
