Anyone know the story with this 45? I always thought that the green with blue print was the original, and that the green with black print was a later re issue. Was it booted as well?

People have been saying this for many years, but it never happens. There have been some incredible collections sold in the last few years, but these records were snapped up and are just as scarce as they have always been. New to the market finds from the States are drying up. That's the real reason that prices are going up, combined with the fact that most on the scene want to be Dj's. Nearly all the people who I considered dancers are now Djing. A lot of the stuff that was played at Stafford and used to command high prices are now out of vogue and very difficult to sell. Mid tempo, beat ballads and popcorn I'm talking about. That means that all the Dj's want to own the guaranteed floor fillers, and these are the records that are fetching the high prices.

I had a copy like that, sold it my mate. Sure it didn't say demo on it.

Not another of the faithful gone? Terrible news indeed. Didn't know him personally, but the regulars on here just feel like friends. My condolences to Joe's family and friends.
  6. It's all country and western

What I can't understand about eBay sales is, why will someone pay a huge premium for a record from an American seller, yet won't pay bugger all for the same record being sold by a UK seller?

Maybe the penny is finally dropping that the classics [and I mean from all the eras i.e. Stafford as well as Wigan] are very special records, and a lot of the "other" stuff isn't worth collecting. Quality not quantity is the only way to go. The only people who call it "hot boxing" are the people who have been collecting for collecting's sake, and have boxes full of mediocre stuff they will never be able to sell. Good luck to them, everyone to their own, but please don't knock others who only want to own the best.

I reckon it's rarer than their other sable release and sounds amazing played out loud. Atmospheric!

You'd have to be to listen to this lot Tony.
  11. Wanted for a good mate of mine: Chuck Bridges - Don't you make me cry - Scope Please PM me with price and condition. SORTED NOW MANY THANKS.
  12. I just tried to use Gemm, didn't see this thread. I will miss it. Found some bargains over the years, and can't get my head round discogs.
  13. No you were right all along. There was indeed a Birdcage in Brierfield which is just outside Burnley. Still running to this day believe it or not, but not sure if it's in the same building or not.
  14. Is your "friend" involved in kidnapping Phil? Pay up or the record gets it.
  15. Do you have a sound file of the actual 45? The link doesn't work for me.
  16. Cody Black has gone down in value over the years. Can't understand why, one of the greatest northern classics of all time n my humble opinion.
  17. Not there now, must have sold.
  18. I don't think it's at all northern, and can't see what all the fuss is about personally?

Very shocked to hear this tragic news. Paul was a lovely guy. RIP
  20. What's the sound quality like on the boot?
  21. I usually use the e commerce player, but it's limited to how many tracks are free.
  22. Inexperience will be a lot to do with it I think. Try and imagine you are in your 50's/60's and you are buying records for the first time. Or you are new to using a PC. Just because we are all seasoned campaigners, doesn't mean everyone is. I still get many people in my shop who aren't on line, and if they are they aren't very confident with it.
  23. 15 More Than A Memory - Nancy Wilcox Had this on a tape for many years and always thought it was fantastic. Taped it off Richard Searlings old radio show on Jazz FM on Sunday afternoons. Worth buying the CD just for this track alone.
  24. You only have to join Facebook to see it every day. Not just pictures of rare records, but flash houses, flash cars and large motorcycles too. Oh and I'm on my way to the airport for another of my endless holidays, because I am "seriously richer than yow" bloody show off's.
