  1. It's wrong, but the reason the promoter keeps quiet is they haven't got the balls to say anything to the DJ. Don't want to upset anyone and risk loosing money. What you describe in your earlier post is exactly what the scene is. One big social scene, with music in the background. So called upfront all nighters that are only on 4 times a year. How the f**k can you make a record popular when the punters never hear it. And everyone on here attends events that play boots, and turns a blind eye because it's just a social night. That's why all this OVO subject is a load of bollocks, because no one really cares. The only people who could stop it are the promoters. But if they did, nobody would turn up.
  2. Give the guy a break he's German.........don't know about you but my German spelling is far worse than his English.
  3. There would be no one left to take part in the poll.
  4. Post of the thread, and I think it puts across the feelings of the majority very eloquently. I don't think there's anymore to say. Well put sir.
  5. Wonderful record, but very hard to sell for some strange reason.
  6. Thanks for all the answers guys. I was offered one and when I saw it in the wants section I was hoping to make a few quid. But obviously not. I havent worked for a while so need to try and earn a bit when possible.

Bob, do you have this 45? the issue is very rare.
  8. Speak up Mark me old mucker..............
  9. Totally agree Andy, and I know you are in it for the long haul. But for anyone wanting to do that now! well I'm afraid time's against them, and unless they are very wealthy, we'll all be dead before they get a good box together. lol I notice even the mighty Kitch is letting some holy grails go. Time and tide wait for no man, and retirement and security have to come first. Sad but true. Hopefully I'll soon be back buying 45's.... This time next year Rodney, we'll be millionaires........
  10. Never been a collector Andy. I just bought records I thought were fantastic to play at my all nighter. Simple as that. Totally "lived it" for a few years, but found it impossible to sustain my passion as I struggled to maintain a lifestyle that was way beyond my income. [i.e. all my worldly goods were invested in a couple of very small record boxes] and the other people involved were letting me down. I think if most people were honest, they would have to say that their records were for Dj'ing. If I were a wealthy man then yes I would love to have a nice collection. But though you may not like to admit it, rare soul 45's are a valuable commodity, and as such can be used to get people out of sticky financial situations. I was being made redundant a couple of years ago, my records helped pay off my mortgage and my huge credit card bill. Glad I did it now as I still haven't had any work since then. I still have some money left and am now buying my own business. I agree the music is fantastic, but there isn't enough fresh quality northern to sustain my interest, and I think there's a lot of other people feel the same way. I admire your passion Andy, and wish you all the best.
  11. Quite understand what you are saying Cookie, I think there are a lot of people going through the same dilema. Totally disillusioned with it all myself. Good luck with what ever you decide on.
  12. I personally think Tim Brown is the fairest dealer, and he has the money. The problem is Cookie, they all have to make a living, so you will probably only get half of their full value from any of the big dealers. Sorry to see another stalwart having to sell up. I hope you can get a good deal chuck. Please pass on my regards to Nick, hope all is well. Phil. p.s. What sort of numbers are we talking about Cookie?
  13. Have seen a few wants for this recently - CLARENCE MURRY - LET'S GET ON WITH IT - SSS INT- What's a fair price for a demo?

  17. Anyone know who won the auction? I used to love ebay before it became a secret society.
  18. Quinvy replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
Blimey, a bit off topic guys, the OP just asked for the end price not the Spanish Inquisition, NOOOOOOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!!! This one usually goes for around £4k
  19. The voice of reason, well put Andy. When you are involved in a scene that evokes so much passion in it's followers, i.e. Dj'ing and trying to find new things to play. Bearing in mind that this music hasn't been produced for 40+ years. Then the lines of what constitutes a "Northern" record, are going to become blurred, as the searcher struggles to find suitable 45's to give impetus to the dance floor, and the changing taste as we evolve and get more mature [Grumpy] I have never been worried about the colour of the artiste's skin, just as long as it has that indefinable "something" that moves me to dance. However, in my own search for the ultimate Dj set, when I was involved, I applied a rule of thumb for records like this one [The Grey Imprint] and it was this. "Would you buy this record if it was easily available, and cost £20? The answer for this particular record, and from a personal perspective would be "no"
  20. Wish I had a box full.
  21. I think The Guru [Rod Shard] has put the auction prices up. Not sure though as I don't get on here much these days Ged.
  22. This was a massive play for Cliff Camfield from 2 or 3 years ago at the old Burnley Allnighters. Covered up as - LITTLE JOHNNY BLAIR - RIGHT ON - This I pressume is played by all and sundry by now. This however is the quite hard to get white demo copy, and is in lovely condition. Sound quality is much cleaner than the issues, and to me looks much nicer. BOBBY PATTERSON - RIGHT ON JODY - PAULA W/DJ EX+ £50 Bobby Patterson.mp3
