  1. Me, too. A complete idiot! And another one: soul_bee , from Japan He sold me a Ruby Sherry, that never arrived. He told me that he would search after the record, but never came back to me with the results from his post office. I just got one email back from him, that's three months ago.
  2. No easy question for me as I'm still pretty young and there is still very much to discover for me. But what about Susan Duffy - Look me over, as a new one in 2004, although it was recorded in the 90s ? Very nice tune, I think.
  3. A friend of mine was at his store 3 months ago, but he just sells nearly everything over ebay. Only some stuff at the store. This would have been a nice find, wouldn't it?
  4. Just found number 3, if I would have the money.... https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...4065943031&rd=1
  5. I'm doing a regular night in Bamberg Germany called the "SoulShakers", next one is this saturday. But there are many other regular events in Germany, for example in N¼rnberg, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Berlin, M¼nchen, Bremen... The best soul event site is www.soulallnighter.com , give it a try when you know your dates.
  6. A party machine!! Did fabulous spots @ N¼rnberg Weekender in the northern & modern room. Only one record I don't like (Frank Popp), but played Elbie Parker for me You promoters: invite this guy!
  7. I'd like to add something for a smaller "scene", the one in Germany. There are of course not so many soul events over here than in the UK, but it's also hard to keep a regular local night running, I try this for two and a half years now. Our guest DJs are always from Germany, as I'm unable to pay an UK-DJ, and that attracts nobody but the local soul fans. People are often more attracted by a big name DJ from the UK, and so am I. I've travelled 500 kilometers for Terry Davis & Carl Willingham 300 kilometers for Dave Flynn and I'll travel 600 kilometers for Butch in April Also I did only travel 40 kilometers for Chris Anderton, John Mills, John Weston & Dave Rimmer, other soul fans travelled from 600 kilometers away. By the way, I also think Dave Rimmer is a big name DJ, it's fantastic how he can get the dancefloor going, easiest job to have the set after him.And would he have so much bookings if he wasn't a big one?
  8. Oh come on, has nobody seen the end of the auction. Please let me know.
  9. Just seen that someone would pay more, Pete. At ebay, Item number: 4060694065, a UK copy at UKP 125 (reserve not met). But can't be that rare, is it? cheers, Martin
  10. Well, I paid 2 Euros on monday for it, but I don't know how long it will be in my house. The last time I looked at the auction was 2 hour before the end it was at UKP 175 by that time
  11. I was out yesterday evening, so I didn't get the end of JMs auction. Please could someone tell me at what price the Eboney Keyes on Pye (Germany) ended? Thanks a lot! Martin
  12. Hi Chris! It was a pleasure to meet you and Alison the frist time, I hope it was not the last time. You played really great sets and also the other DJs, to whom I listend to were great(Dave Rimmer, John Mills, John Weston, Thorsten Wegner, Peter Werhand, Lars Bulnheim & the Promoters) , sometimes it's terrible, that you can't stay in two rooms at the same time! To me it was a wonderful weekender. Quality records and a great crowd, about 500 punters on friday and 650 on saturday, so also a full sucess for the three promoters, Stefan, Oguzhan & Dominik I'm looking forward to 2005! cheers, Martin I also did two spots in the Northern Room on friday, here is what I played, not really sure about the order: 1st spot (21.50-22.30, the first of the weekend) Jimmie Reed Jr. - I ain't going no where - Mercury Ethics - There Still be a sweet tomorrow - Wale Betty Everett - Unlucky girl - Uni Rotations - I can't find her - DeBrossard Otis Leavill - Gotta right to cry - Lucky Enchanted Five - Have you ever - CVS Voices of east harlem - I like having you around - Just Sunshine Intertains - Glad I found you - Uptown Black & Blue - What I got - Mercury Carl Hall - Is your love going or growing - Mercury O'Jays - I'll never forget you - Imperial Tommy Frontera - You're my leading lady - Hi-Lite Erma Franklin - Abracadabra - Epic Wilson Pickett - Baby don't you weep - Liberty (Germany) Jimmy Fraser - Of hopes and dreams and tombstones - Columbia 2nd set (1.30-2.00) Four Perfections - I'm not strong enough - Party time Pic and Bill - Talk about love - soul record (France) Tony Clarke - A wrong man - M-S Kenny Wells - Isn't it just a shame - New Voice Mill Evans - When I'm ready - Tou-Sea Dottie & Mille - Talkin' about my baby - Topper Rotations - Put a dime on D-9 - Frantic Marquee Revue - What good tomorrow - Pacific Avenue Archie Bell & the Drells - A thousand wonders - Atlantic (Spain) Willie Tee - First taste of hurt - Gatur

Oh I think this is very interesting. As a scene it was and is social, and how important it is we can see after the dissertation. I'd be very interested to read it when it's finished. I'm thinkig of something similar for my work to become a Magister of Arts here in Germany, but more under a cultural point of view. Martin
  18. I've sent you a PM.
  19. I'd like to add Willie Tee - First taste of hurt / I'm having so much fun If I just could get my hands on a copy of this one :search: And one I own: Dottie & Millie - Nothing in this world / Talkin' about my baby
