Times Gone By - Music Track
Yeah - Texas label I think and pretty sure there's a CD comp of garage/psych with an unreleased version of the vocal to Music Track or something like that.

Times Gone By - Music Track
Richard played it as The Yvonne Baker Band - Don't Say a Word - the alleged instrumental to her biggie. I have a spare for sale.... (sorry, can't help myself)

Sharon Jones , Great Version
I feel kind of the opposite. I love her as an artist and would always see them live. Since the band have opted for a more 'traditional' sounding soul approach and moved away from the earthier funk sound of the earlier shows, however, the live shows seem to me to feel a little less dynamic. When I first them, the Daptones did about 30 mins on their own with Binky playing guitar with his teeth and round the back of his head a la Hendrix, but it was all really punchy, rhythmic and percussive sounding. She was still doing stuff like Pick It Up, Lay It In The Cut and some of the old Desco stuff and I've never seen such energy in a live performance. I thought she and the band were unbeatable at the time, whereas now I find them only great.

Off The Wall Request - Need Something French, Groovy And Quick
Think I'm sorted now Thanks, Otis. Lefevre would have failed at the starting blocks though - see post no 1 re soundtracks/instrumentals. Gotta be a French vocal is the rule.

Off The Wall Request - Need Something French, Groovy And Quick
Well it looks like I'm now sorted with the Nancy Hollow version of 'Hit The Road Jack' after all. Big thanks to everyone who chipped in, either on the thread or by PM with suggestions, offers of help and yes, even the p*ss takers. Maybe we'll create a new craze in the record bars one day: "Got any French mate...." Godz

Off The Wall Request - Need Something French, Groovy And Quick
That's a generous offer mate., cheers. However, I've got some Dutronc stuff and from what I recall the best stuff is pretty uptempo and the slower stuff not so good. Having said that, as the ebay guy knows nothing about special delivery, I may just ruin the chilled atmosphere with 'Le Responsable' after all

Off The Wall Request - Need Something French, Groovy And Quick
Arrgh! I said not Northern! I must be thinking in French and getting all my tenses wrong What I said was "To be clear, I'm not after a French stomper. Something funky, jazzy etc would be great. Maybe even a bit of Ye Ye if not too strident?" Then I told Soulgirl85 that she had failed the "not Northern" test - because her choice was Northern (allegedly - although actually it would have been fine...) Most of the tracks you posted would have certainly done the job. Doesn't look like I'm gong to get a result though unfortunately. ....edit: just waiting to here of someone on ebay as to whether the can post tomorrow. Fiche le camp Jack!

Off The Wall Request - Need Something French, Groovy And Quick
Saw that one as well mate but it doesn't end till Sunday - and it's in France. Can't even get my mate's guests to bring it themselves as they'll already be here!

Off The Wall Request - Need Something French, Groovy And Quick
Great choice Tone. That would have been absolutely spot on - if only there was one in the UK...

Off The Wall Request - Need Something French, Groovy And Quick
Thanks Soulgirl85 but that fails on the 'not northern' and 'vinyl only' counts as it appears top be a youtube video

Off The Wall Request - Need Something French, Groovy And Quick
That sounds familiar to me too - damn. It'll be doing me head in now as well! Cheers for the offer Pete, but I've got stuff on CD and MP3. All the DJs play vinyl though and there won't be a CD player there.

Off The Wall Request - Need Something French, Groovy And Quick
Got a copy actually, but it falls into the 'too raucous' category I'm afraid. Definitely needs to be a bit more of a groove rather than frantic bash, bash, bash. Cheers for the idea Keith. Any more folks?

Off The Wall Request - Need Something French, Groovy And Quick
So.... I'm playing outdoors at our annual summer picnic on Sunday and thankfully the weather looks like it's due to buck up a bit. I discovered yesterday though, that one of my pals has a bunch of French people staying with him and he's going to bring them along. Naturally he's asked for something sung in French. The Picnic is a laid back affair so my Jacques Dutronc records are a bit too lively and the soundtrack stuff is instrumental so likewise is no good. To be clear, I'm not after a French stomper. Something funky, jazzy etc would be great. Maybe even a bit of Ye Ye if not too strident? As I don't intend to become a hardcore French 45 collector I don't want to pay much. Despite this I would need it by Friday ideally, or Saturday at pinch, so I would be willing to pay for Special Delivery. A member on here had Sylvie Vartan's version of Coming Home Baby for 12 quid and that would have fit the bill completely, but sadly it's gone. Definitely along the right lines however. Long shot, I know but can anyone help? Cheers Godz

Anderson Brothers - I Can See Him Loving You
I think Sebastian is right and that the clue is the word MONO. As far as I know only the promos are marked MONO/STEREO and they are usually white. Never seen an issue with that text.

Cleggy/clifton/mecca 70S Stompers
When the word 'stomper' was originally coined, it referred to tunes with a powerful, prominent and comparatively crude beat as typified by the Jewels, 'We Got Togetherness' and Hollywood Persuaders 'Hollywood A-Go-Go'. How we end up categorizing the Marvin Holmes and Four Below Zero records listed above in the same bracket mystifies me. Not trying to ruin the thread - just a frequent puzzlement...

Whats Your Fave Top 5 At The Mo
I think it's been a bit tame on here lately and it's good to see a bit of spirit. Nobody ever really agrees with anyone else anyway - as long as there's no personal abuse I say go for it. I will however qualify my post by stating that my own top 5 would see me laughed of the site. So there

Notice Anything Odd About This Jimmy Church 45?
It's in the SP listing with that number and there are other copies visible after a simple google search. Don't see how it can be described as dodgy or a mock up?

Nolan Porter + Stone Foundation - Vintage Festival Appearance Cancelled
Exactly Mark - like me for instance. I was looking forward to seeing Nolan Porter but it wasn't the Nolan Porter show. There was a lot of other stuff I was keen to catch - not just music either. It's a real shame that the Hemingways appear to have over-reached themselves with the festival.

Nolan Porter + Stone Foundation - Vintage Festival Appearance Cancelled
Hope you're right Ian but I'm doubtful. I think the Vintage corner of Wilderness will be a curiosity at that festival but pretty far from a perfect fit. Most of the stuff I really wanted to see has gone and although there is some interesting stuff at Wilderness, the likes of Spiritualized and Temper Trap will be a poor substitute for Sergio Mendes and Alice Russell. Refunds are the order of the day for a bunch of us, including the couple who are coming from Germany to get married and were going to start their honeymoon at Vintage.

Sir Joe Quarterman Live In Manchester Tomorrow
To clarify: I mean under-represented from people who use the soul/funk/record forums. I expect the gig tonight to be will attended.
