Think you will find I played it down the phone to John Manship much earlier. We actually had discussion about issues & demos(I had both at the time-The pair had cost me $25 inc p&P) and we agreed probably the same as it was her last attempt at the charts- so got promoted a lot and was issued in quantity to hopefully pick up on the demand. I love it but a lot dont! My view is if you like Dont pity me you will probably like this!

Bob that situation is as as rare as Rocking horse dooo dooo because their are so many knowledgeable people on the scene- Its the blatant ones(THose who only want fame at the expense of the original principles of the Northern soul scene) Im commenting about! Ive made the odd mistake in the past because I was out of the scene for a number of years and when I came back I got caught with a boot that Id played out not knowing it was aboot. Its the ones who bloody know what they are up to that infuriates me! Been talking to Charley Perkins on the phone recently - The discussion about how the record was made really does epitomise what the Northern soul scene was based on! Hope you are well! Regards Steve

Ok ! Im ready for the slagging! The Northern soul scene was built on original rare records - we all know that except the wanna be DJs who want the top sounds without putting the effort into it.Hence why they buy the Boots and reissues to gain their 15 minutes of fame as I put it! If it wasnt built on OVO then what was I doing for hours a day at Global when I was a teenager sifting through thousands of records ? To look for reissues or bootlegs! I think not. The boot leg scene became because of roughly what Pete S said- It was mainly for the youth clubs or to listen to at home. Bob I'll never understand the Black funk scene in America because I wasnt brought up there or at the time of its height so its not ingrained in my blood but Northern soul is because I lived with it day in day out warts and all. Therefore I dont expect Americans to have the same affinity with the genre.Sorry if thats a challenging statement. However you will never get rid of the boots reissues because of demand and I agree with Bob in that others outside the scene will buy them for some ecclectic reason! But its the ones played by the Wanna be DJ stars that upset us OVO enthusiasts! If it doesnt matter then Ive wasted thousands of hours searching / negotiating/ Cleaning/ spending my hard earned cash after deliberating what amount I can afford to go up to for these OVO records when I could just buy these boots and reissues and play them out imagining Ill have the same cred by the punters/other djs as say Johnny Weston - Think again everyone! we have to win hearts and minds and the argument that DJs should only play original Issues/demos & acetates! Back into my Trench!

Doesnt matter what format of demo you have they are worth only about 60-75 tops - the issue I would put at double that because of its rarity Ive had the coloured Demo and Ive had both white demos but never had an issue!

Boo hoo - I missed it cos I was working west of Glasgow yesterday so didnt get home till late but will pick it up on Sunday.

Why not just get it on CD then if she doesnt collect etc!

How about this one 2 packages recorded delivery gone missing Buyers make a claim - No problem and found in their favour again I have no problem with that & Ive made a claim against the Post office. I also have another dispute over the buyer saying I mislead him over a record - DIspute has not yet been decided but my seller rating has been reduced before the decision is made. Talk about sentencing someone before the trial has been finished.! Apparantly even if you are in the right just because claims have been opened even if it was a mistake on the buyers part you have your seller rating reduced! Ebay = Everybody Bow And Yawn!

Their was one on a list on here 25 quid in VG and even that was cheap - Youve no chance for 15 quid

Yes to all those I only love Wigan tunes that most of these were denounced at the time as Disco-Pish! but They sound even better today IMO I knew the vocalist on Dont be afraid was female - I wrote to the band back in the 70s Pete and got an answer from Polydor to my questions. The Lp Pass the feelin on which has Dont be afraid on it has some absolute sublime tunes. Jon Willis played Norma Jenkins on BIR couple of weeks ago and it sounded superb.

I suppose he wanted to compare prices from Ebay to this site and to be honest I think people on here should monitor prices a bit closer Candace Love - mint copies on ebay 15 quid I think Posstot was spot on! IMO 20 quid for Sam & Bill!

Cheers Tony - I never understood what it referred to: Even though Ive got quite a few of them. Manships says the one Patto ( Arnold Bryant) is the rarest format followed by the Mask then the red one in the White oval but doesnt list the demo so that must be pretty rare then!

What does the Black mask Mercury label look like? Manship doesnt list the demo

I picked up the 45 in London a week ago for 50p - I already have the 12 @ - Not sure of cat numbers will have to look!

JUles I probably would refund but the guy has got nasty saying I enacted a deception. Ive decided to let it go through the ebay process just to see what the outcome is as the fees will be about a couple of pounds or so. I spoke to paypal today. She said I should have some optimism as I had described the item as in Poor condition! We will see!

Turned it down some years ago as a freebie - Didnt like it at the time but I really like it now!
