  1. What are you really asking here? Are you trying to compare the content of the film with what we remember it was like because im 53 and cant remember every nighter I went to and what went on and I was one of the Jam butty brigade so no substances were used on my part to cloud my judgement. Good luck with whatever you are trying to achive but agree that the Soulboy thread would give alot of what you are looking for. By the way - The film is PISH!

Got a Lost Family in VG++ 25 quid inc P&P
  3. went a few aldayers in the 70s but for me it has to be Manchester RITZ. My memories ofstanding on the dance floor as the French fries played not having to move but appearing to dance as the floor went up & down is echoed in my mind along with the infamous Levine must go Badges. Look back at these times with fond memories.
  4. I think this is where the lines get Blurred BOBA Many records termed under the banner of Northern soul were not in the traditional Soul genre - It was and is a question of beat rather than voice hence why so many instrumentals became classics. Baltimore & Ohio being one of the best examples along with another 15-20 you could mention as classics. AS you say it may be obscure because it insnt a traditional soul record but on what criteria does anyone use to say what is rare and whats not other than JM saying weve only had so many copies for sale. This is a question people have been asking for years and a repeat myself in parrot fashion that unless their is provenance (written) then rarity is only an assumption based on personal preception- Nothing more!
  5. Some weird prices everywhere if you ask me. Just been on (I think its Lees site - Perux) Please bollock me if Im wrong! Dec 09 - he requested Prince Ellis - Im gonna love you on Ellis I had an Ex copy so I offered and he offered me 20 quid which I laughed off but negotiated to swap a record on his site he had listed for 50 quid. He now has a Prince Ellis up for 250 quid - Im sure some dealers are on something when they think up these prices like this.
  6. Think my mate The Gasher had a New Zealand Copy or is that in Australia Dave

  11. Sorry Russ - Dont agree with that at all- Most of our classic oldies were never covered up and the artists got recognition by the fact the scene played their music not whether or not the record was covered up in the first place! Ive lent a friend of mine what might be my rarest soul record- maybe I should tell him to cover it up because Ive asked on here afew times if anyone knew it and not one response. However if it is genuinely rare then why cover it up at all infact the opposite of what you have said could result in more exposure if the artist is more widely known to start with. My friend was in the states and met up with someone who knew about my record as he worked for the label production or something like that butsaid to my friend it will be difficult to find one. Actually Ive had a thought that if you cover a record up and use a different name you might actually be in some legal doo da with say the name you have used eg: Al Green who is still a recording artist. I wonder what he thinks about his name being used on a piece of music that he did not record. Forget the criminal term for it!
  12. Its an uphill climb to the bottom - by Two people on Liberty (Unbelievable version (crap!) another one is Bo Donaldsons version of "Girl dont make me wait" Its so bad!
  13. If they run it through ebay as a shop or a business it applies! The price of a mars bar sold by any method or means by a business or shop is made up of different values applying to the final price. It would include handling time and packaging and distribution costs manufacture costs. The final price is called a unit price but the seller(retailer) cannot include his own postage cost in this unit price other wise the unit price would vary and therefore corporation tax would be applied on the profit they make which would include the amount they charge for postage and therefore would have an effect on customs and excise duty and is the reason why actual postage costs advertised are nearly exact to the true postage cost!In other words you will not find a business making money out of postage cost as it would affect profit levels.
  14. Yes its a contract allright unless Ebay have to enforce it as it costs them time & money! Forgot to say she wasnt honouring her contract Ill go back and see what she says.
  15. If they are a business they are in more trouble as all charges for packing etc are included in the price of the item (ITS called Unit price and they use this to reduce the corporate taxes imposed on them as a business)therefore they can only charge you the actual cost of postage or the tax man and customs and excise might be interested.
  16. Re post 24 $11 Charging that amount actuates to theft - remember Ebay is an auction site and therefore Postage cannot be what you like but at the actual cost of postage and the actual cost of packaging otherwise you are defrauding the person you sold the item to. Ive had a similar problem with Wii games for 4 games a woman wanted to charge me 8 pounds in Uk I weighed the package(obviously using 4 games I owned and the padded envelope and weighed it and sought the postage charge on Royal mail rates)- When I told her what it was she went apeshit and then would no longer sell me the Wii games In conclusion they are thieves nothing else as their is no justification for their so called charges.

  18. None of these boots should go for more than a tenner IMO at most- However some people are now collecting these as they are rarer than the originals in some cases and that obviously affects the market price. Ive got maybe 6 of the 70s boots and I wouldnt pay more that a fiver for any of them ! I think I mentioned in another thread that a boot copy of David & Giants - Ten miles high on Crazy horse went for more than the original did and that was at the same time. Dont have any of the ones wanted but Ifg I did I would sell than at a fiver each and no more. Good luck Steve

  20. Sorry Chalky- I thought I had read all the posts on the thread. I think for some reason some of the posts were not showing as I had a pc problem as you can see by my double post I did reply in my first line about the paypal issue but just couldnt help myself having a laugh about RM & PS Sorry - Considered myself spanked! Back on topic I suppose you could say it "Was a gift" if the person who receives your money doesnt send the item! I cannot remember ever having a problem but I can understand why others may now be reluctant but even given this thread, people are still advertising the fact of Paypal gift on the sales thread. (even today) Appreciate MrTag is talking about dealers or others outside source but some dealers join source purely to sell and take little part in any of the other discussions so the spirit of the title could equally apply here! Well thats my opinion !
  21. Ive got a price & princess - EX - What you offering
  22. Sorry I agree with benji- I thought we had free speech in this country and most of the others in Europe and the US etc The only people who are miffed is those that want to get it cheap (why not) and then sell it on for a considerable profit (Who doesnt?) This is just as bad as the cover -up debate! Take this example :Hi Nev - I found this thing on ebay - sounds quite good heres the link! The word spreads and the record goes up in price as the bids start to hike to $100 Now Marc if this was one of your records you were selling would you turn round to the highest bidder and say - Its ok mate Ill give it to you for 5 dollars because no-one on here should have been discussing it " Not Likely" hey mr Forrest! If you dont want someone to know you keep stum! SIMPLES! One of my close friends is the Gasher on here. However we both know we only do each other a favour where records are concerend if we both benefit from it meaning more than one copy otherwise its winner takes all!
