  1. Sold one last year for £40. On the Embers theem I sold my Watch out girl demo in 1979 for £60 and the label was bit suspect. The record was huge then and I always thought it was a 66-68 beach record!
  2. If someone offerend me a record and I could pick either Styrene copy of Vinyl copy I would always go for the Vinyl copy for longevity purposes

  10. Ive not seen one for sale and I dont know what its real value is although its £100 in Manships latest guide! Talking about latin Think it was Butch who came up to me at the Last Dundee and asked me out of the blue if I was selling my Black sugar! I said - sorry mate its not for sale- then I get 2 guys on here asking the same question must admit I do like Latin soul by Mongo Santamaria and one I played about 3 years ago is "I wanna Know" - by Aguabella. Peoples taste do change when they hear something they like ! Myself and Des will be organising nights for late this year and next year. Will let you know when they are happening! We are both busy with work at the moment but once it settles down we will be into the swing of things. Ive already got confirmation from Barbara Grassi a leading European female DJ from Italy - will do one of the nights as well as Mick H, and Kenny Burrell has offered as well so no problem getting DJs. Hope you might be available for one of the nights as I will probably not Dj that often and spend most of my time doing the promotion and Des doing the Club DJ bit! I hope to speak to him pretty soon as I never know when hes in the US or not and at this time of the year its pretty quiet round here! P.S you get first choice on an Ernest Sparks ATB Steve
  11. Winfield parker - I wanna be with you - PL I used to live on a farm and had an Aga type boiler where you threw everything in it to burn. I had received some records and I often threw the cardboard into the Aga with newspaper to get it going. What I didnt realise was their was still a record inside 2 pieces of card I was about to pack and send off to someone!
  12. I quite like this - To me its like a soul jam musically with a vocal thrown over the top and it just about works - You can hear those piano tinkles being rammed in the background especially in the last 30 seconds. Good choice Haydn! What do you think would be the reaction at the belmont to it or is it for personal play? Steve
  13. Ive just asked him a question - How does he know its a one -off? Has he got written provenance to say so- I await his reply! AS for price - Ive got aLP Acetate with provenance that it was recorded by the writer and is a one off that was sent to Stax - Should I ask £15,000 for it

  15. Contact my mate - "gasher" on here he has one for sale!
  16. Clarify that please Cunnie! I ofetn practicesets - moving records around in sets- A bit like managing a football team some players get promoted from the bench (Or box in the case of 45s) and some get demoted. Its an art this Djing lark Anyone can buy the latest bootlegs/reissues what ever you want to call them and play for an hour and call themselves a DJ. However the true Northern/Soul etc DJ practices his art of buying /tasting playing and reviewing to see what works with what and what doesnt! So you do have to work at it. Ive been to soul nights and watched one of the Top Djs play and it didnt really work for him because he said he was rushing and didnt trawl his boxes to put together a good set. He just picked up alot of records and put them in a box and it was probably the least enjoyable of his spots Ive ever witnessed and the dance floor action represented that thought. However Ive witnessed other Djs Ive met for the first time (Eddie Hubbard) Play a set of under £200 tunes and it was a superb set- Good presentation at the deck(Voice) and dancefloor action represented this on a night of fewer than the ususal numbers of people. (Having spoken to Eddie - he had to work to put that set together) So its difficult to define what a good DJ is but its certainly not a I want 60 mins of fame by playing all the top sounds that were booted in the last 12 months. Thats my opinion! Rant over!
  17. Right Attitude Dave Whats the point of having a website with lists of stuff that never sells cos its priced too much. Thats what I hate about charity shops these days selling Beatles albums for £15-20 cos the book says so and then I really piss them off when I get a rare 45 out of them for 50p and the cheeky blighters then ask if Im going to give a donation!
  18. The problem is all about popularity and copies available. If it wasnt that poular at the moment and it had had its indemand tag it probably would be back down to around £400 - £500 but as its still a priority on many wants list its going to be a tough one even at £700 as aprevious poster said one sold for alot more. Its a minefield out there. Mind and matter 7 years ago was a1kl record - Now because its had its day its a £300 record
  19. Another one from me - Lorna Doone - Dangerous Town - RCA Absolute pounding 60s- Ive never heard it out anywhere in years but I regulalry play it in my attic quite alot.
  20. about 3-4 years ago it was relatively not that known and was rare but £150 mark Since it got big exposure its become a£500-£700 job I personally think it should be back around the £250 mark but Demand always pushes prices up rather than real rarity value!
  21. Ronnie Bartlett- I cant help my self / Where did Our love go - Argentinian EMI Amazing versions especially the "I cant help myself"

  24. Their is another reason why this happens! An ebay member sees an Item he wants so he reports it however many times it gets listed . He then emails the seller to offer a misely sum. I had this with some rare framed items I was selling on behalf of a work colleague. 3 times John lennon signed Imagine album was removed even though I had put a lot into the description including extensive references to the author of the COA. This guy then emails me offering $50 for it saying it was a fake (It was a rare signature including the famous Glasses signature and a yoko signature in the corner & Ive seen lots of JL signatures due to the fact I knew Julian lennon when he was young. .) I contacted ebay and they hadnt thought of that one. Luckily another person had seen the listing and offered just under 2k for it.
  25. Ok last time I did this was for the Semi against Forest and I was nearly paying people to take them away. Same as before 10% off for each goal Blackpool score if they win!
