  1. 'Tis impressive in it's excruciatingness. Amazing what gets onto vinyl. Anyone make it to the end? I'll put the B side up if you like, if I recall he never hits a note, but I'm not going to listen again to find out
  2. After Teddy & the Counts I had high hopes for this one - sadly not so much. Not the worst soul record ever made, but gotta be in the running somewhere Casual poll around the locals over last few days 2 made it to the end with varying degrees of pain 1 made it to the end no comment 1 liked it others cut out at 10 secs, 20 secs, 40 secs, 1 min, 36. Thoughts? Comments? Have fun, or otherwise? Anyone know anything about Pete Judd? Is this his only moment in the sun? I don't seem to be able to get a sound wave with a play button but hopefully this will get you there https://soundcloud.com/mr-smithy-2
  3. I enjoyed it, good listen while I was putzin around today Ta very much T
  4. Love 78s!! Great sound and if they don't break they can take a real kickin and still play great. Gottem all over the shop, both genre wise and in fact all over the apartment Take a lot of room to store, and I don't really have it but the Mrs is very understanding. I've often thought if someone took the time & trouble to press up some stompers & shouters from 45s to 78s over a big system they'd sound great. Not ever likely to happen though. Shame.
  5. I never understand this, only takes a few minutes even if you don't buy mailers. I must admit that I've done some sloppy looking packages on occasion but it doesn't take much to make them nearly bulletproof however sloppy they look. I even do it on purpose sometimes when sending overseas so it looks more like a parcel from Auntie Ethel and customs tend to leave it alone. Glad you negged him. Sadly it will continue, regardless. Just as a matter of interest I see it got sold on june 16th, and you negged him today. He's in UK , I assume you are. How long did it take to get it there, assuming it took 5 minutes for you to mail him and him to whine back. Get a voluntary refund?

No, I've never had to. I've either been lucky or the registered deters them. Can't say which. PP are much faster on the trigger but if there is a sig I figure I'm covered later and could counter claim or get the $ back, which I did do once when they crunched one.

I agree it's protecting the seller, but also about being fair to the buyer. That's why it's nice to keep 3rd parties out of the frame. Stuff does happen out there and hard and fast sometimes ridiculous rules from PP /EB don't help. In countries where it happens, I tend to use registered as it seems to work and is not outrageous. The Endicia looks like it might be worth a glim though.

I've heard of Endicia, but don't know much about it No, if I've registered something I've never had a problem , I had one go missing for a month or so in Gemany but I put in a track and the buyer did and they found it and all was hunky dory, but EB wasn't involved in that and he was patient enough not to bother PP although I can't actually remember if PP was involved. Back to the initial point though, charging $40 is really pushing it, there are several ways to do it without resorting to extortion.

That's quite possible, but as it's the PO that supposedly "loses it" in these things rather than deal with PP / EB which as a seller is like betting on the blue in roulette You can track it and find out if it did get there eventually and get your money back from the PO after PP has scarfed it from your account Then you can take it up with PP/ EB or whatever. It's cheaper for the buyer and should satisfy them if they're on the level and eventually proves them liars if they're not. T

There are differing amounts for domestic and International but with registered it's always insured, inc in price. Usually it varies with the brightness of the clerk. In theory it travels from lock box (safe) to lock box (safe) that's why its slower. I didn't add it up but I think even if you buy seperate insurance it still clocks in at barely $20 Yeah $400 seems to be a cut off for several of the POs services.

https://ircalc.usps.com/Default.aspx?country=10150&m=6&p=0&o=7&mt=5 Go here If you add registered @ $11.75 That's insured and tracked ( bit of a PIA to track , but doable) if you make it bulletproof at 7oz it still clocks in at under $20 He's taking the p*** T

I got this. Anyone happen to know who was in the Fabulous Imperials and if these are their signatures? I can't think of who else they might be.

  16. Found my first all in one piece Rama sleeve a week or so ago Found 2 of the Dooto sleeves a year or 2 ago , never seen one before or since Boba, The dog End sleeves are made of such cheap paper that I'm surprised any of them survive but the boxy one is newer and make of thicker paper I wonder why there aren't more about, and here in NY too , it was a local label.
  17. Starting to look like a bad year, Johnny, Jimmy and now Etta. RIP all of you. We'll never see the like again.
  18. They are about, I'm sure, I just prefer diggin and supporting the locals unless it's something that's obviously not going to happen. That said, it's not one that shows up often here. Not sure about over there.
  19. "Ben E King "Stand By Me" on original Atco" I see copies of this just about every week in NY, a few are pretty beat but mostly they seem to be fairly clean but with 1 big scuff / scratch across it. It's like they paid some b***er to sit at the end of the line with a can puncher or something. I was just talking about this to someone the other week. "ben e king "the record (baby I love you)" just recently got a passable copy of this to replace my beat up one, this never shows up clean here. You're right Boba, quality tune.
  20. Outstanding man & career, another one of the greats gone. Who can measure what we owe him. RIP
  21. Nor sure which are rarer that one or this one I've only found 3-4 of each in one piece The General American, I've never found a whole one, but a few totally trashed
  22. A merry to all from across the water, and many thanks. I miss the UK sometimes and you lot are better than the BBC for finding out what's going on and what people think. Much appreciated. A Happy '12 to you all.
