  5. I do not want to upset anyone selling sleeves. All I would say is, I 'personaly' will not now put a record into a paper or card sleeve where the vinyl will come into direct contact with a poly/plastic liner. I have done in the past, but will not do so now. Please note, not all records will react in the way described above, only some.
  6. The stiff heavy grade plastic sleeves that were available in the 90's (& probably still available) in the UK definitly do, over a long period of time, these are the type that the person posted a picture of in the thread that you posted a link to Bob, his post is the one made on March 23rd, 2010, 4:04 am . I had a large U.K. collection all in original London, H.M.V., etc. sleeves, then inserted into these plastic sleeves. Some of these definitly did react, yes. Also, I put some magazines & general paper work into the L.P. size version of these sleeves. After a few years I went to take the contents out & a large amount of the ink printing had stuck to the plastic sleeve (as in the picture on the thread that you posted Bob) The B.B.C. sleeves (where the Jason Knight was in) were heavy paper with thin poly lining.
  7. Here is a mint unplayed condition record that came from the BBC Library (plus I have others in the same condition) that was stored since 1967 in a B.B.C. Poly lined sleeve. If you decide to store your records inside Poly lined sleeves for a long period of time, make sure you insert your record into a paper sleeve first so that the vinyl is not in direct contact with the Poly lining.
  8. Hi Russ, That's strange, only yesterday I was thinking...'wonder if shifty still has his copy?' At the time shifty was playing it I didn't know the records real identity, it was only when I was round somebodys house in the U.S. & I was playing through some records that I stumbled on who it was by. Shame shifty packed in dj'ing, he was good, when he wasn't drunk. Hope all's good with you mate. Ady
  9. Superb record. I remember when I used to deal with a couple of the Jamaican guys on the Bronx that this record was very highly rated by them, it was a big play for them at their music events. Talking of which, I asked if it would be alright for me to go along to one of these do's? He said "You !?!" & burst out laughing Shame, cause I'd really have liked to have gone. He said they hold them in peoples back yards during the day time & play the records on real big sound systems, loads of people show up for it, all slow sounds mind. Has any one on here ever managed to go to one? would love to know what they're like.
  10. The flip to the Georgous George - "Get up off it" is a pretty good up tempo dancer, but very short at 1:45 mins. The Jimmy Church is quite good as well.
  11. This is such sad news Trev was one of the nicest fella's you could wish to meet. Mandy, if you need someone to talk to, me & Sue are here for you. Ady
  12. "Fred Dibnah woz ere"
  13. I know some people will be waiting for an update regarding the "Ebay Dealer Breakbeatbananas" thread. The majority of buyers were refunded last night. Later today Tommy (Breakbeatbananas) will let me know the remaining figure outstanding to be refunded, I will then paypal that money to him so that he can refund the last few people. At that point every single person that what was out of pocket will have had a full refund. I know every one would far rather have had the records that they bid on, but as it looks like they would have to wait a period of time to get these records, I did not want to see any of these buyers lose their money, or to think that they were going to lose their money. I have only stepped in to resolve this issue as I could see that this young family were in trouble. As I stated on the other thread, I'm in no way involved with the Breakbeatbananas business. If anyone has any other issues regarding this matter then feel free to pm or email me. Thanks, Ady
  14. Sorry, I'm like Pete, I can't do the sound file thingie either. But don't worry Ted, like I said, it's not that good, honest.....we'll discuss it later, after dobber & John have got copies
  15. Hi Pete, That's strange, my copy seems a normal average thickness. Does yours have those tiny raised numbers & letters on the label, or should I say under the label, the same as on the Epitome of Sounds on Sandbag? Looks like 21 CO ? The two copies I've seen have had the gold Chips Weldon McDougal stickers on. Ted, you have heard it, when you came to Stewartby, so it can't be that good if you don't remember it Ady
  16. Yes !! brilliant song. What about the bit when the singer comes in with "I'll be there when things go wrong......." great stuff. gutted now, I parted with mine Anyone got a copy with a wrecked "you sould o' held on" side by any chance ?
  17. Hi Pete, I'm a bit confused here. Are you saying that after that time you came to me to complain about the Volumes on Impact that you got from Tommy (where I personally refunded you) that you then went back & bought more records off him ? Why on earth did you do that after all you said to me about how badly he grades records ? You're not a naive collector who's just starting out, you're someone that knows these records inside out. So why go back again ? I know I wouldn't !! Ady
  18. Hi Ian, Re nuts, I guess it's where his wife grew up. The valley !! I used to stay with a very nice Jewish couple in the valley, at least I thought they were. I didn't know about his mental health issue, until late one night when he hadn't taken his medication. I'd rather you stick me in the middle of Compton wearing a pink bikini & high heels on a dark night, I'd feel safer. Ady
  19. Steve, When I've managed to trace Tommy I'm going to refund everyone. I just need to talk to him first to try & find out who is owed what & get everyones paypal address. The second I find out I can then do it. Ady
  20. Hi Steve, I do want to make one thing clear with everyone, I'm not making any excuses for the lad. If I were in yours, or anyone elses situation on this thread who hasn't got their records, I'd probably be voicing my frustration on here as well. I can't answer for Tommy. At most I will get a short email from him perhaps once a month. On the night he decided to get out of his apartment, by chance I was at my elderly fathers (Tommys grandad). Tommy called him to ask his advice on what he should do. We both agreed the best thing was to grab the baby & get out, not later, but that minute. I've not heard from him since. Any other small amounts of info have come from third parties. Regarding the police. He was living in an area that he shouldn't have been living in, you won't get any sympathy from the police in that area. You call the police on an angry neighbour with a gun, well, you know what will happen. Regarding getting on a plane. I guess he'd have to leave his child & wife behind. If anyone reading this knows how to contact him, perhaps they'd be kind enough to ask him to contact me. Thanks, Ady
  21. Wow, only just this minute seen this thread. Let me see if I can throw some light on what's gone on. Firstly, Tommy (Breakbeatbananas) is my son, I'm Adrian, his dad. Tommy lives in the U.S., I live in the U.K. We are not involved business wise. Right, from what I can make out here's a very brief reason behind what has happened. Up until the end of October/start of November Tommy & his wife were living in an apartment in an area near a place called Compton in Los Angeles. A few months ago they had a baby boy. About this time a man moved in with the woman that lived in the apartment next door. This man sadly took offence to the fact that Tommy is white, I know this doesn't sound possible in this day & age but the man threatened to shoot him & his family unless they got out . Tommy & his family had to move out that night, this fella next door meant it. From that point up until about a week ago they were going from one persons place to another, basically anyone that would take them in for a few nights. Now, I've not managed to get to talk to Tommy since they had to move out of their home that night, but I have been told they have managed to get somewhere to live & are in the process of moving in there. I know Tommy well enough to know that letting people down on getting their records will be bothering him. I also know that sadly he's not been in a position to even contact people to let them know what's going on. He's not even managed to talk to me, I've had to get all this information from a third party. As soon as he's in a position to put things right I hope he will. Ady.
