Coral - (Label Of The Week)
this is something nice, on Aussie Coral, the only way to get a 7" release of Jackie Wilson - Open the Door to your Heart is on the Coral EP 'Since you showed me how to be Happy', but it also made the Coral LP 'Higher & Higher' just bought two of his LP's in fact the other being 'Sweetest Feeling'... nice demo sticker on that as well.. The Fantastics
From my i-Tunes, have the Copa and SS7 releases on 45, the freestyle 45 is well over a decade later than anything on there.. and the DMD release very early, Dunno I reckon they are the same group but different line up's... Sure there are heavier weight record Hounds on here that can tell you what they had for breakfast and which year.... I just love their music.. The Fantastics - You and Me / SS7 The Fantastics - Where There's a Will (There's a Way) / In Times Like These / Impresario The Fantastics - That One / / SS7 The Fantastics - Something Wonderful / Freestyle The Fantastics - High note / Copa also on SS7 I think.. The Fantastics - Have a Little Faith / SS7 The Fantastics - Goodbye to Love / DMD Saw a Bell LP also on Discogs.. add an image Fantastics, The "Ž— The Fantastics Label: Bell Records "Ž— BELLS 200 Format: Vinyl, LP, Album, Stereo Country: UK Released: 1972 Genre: Funk / Soul Style: Soul Tracklist Hide Credits A1 Something Old, Something New 2:48 A2 Sad Eyed Romany Woman 3:09 A3 Old Rags And Tatters 3:48 A4 Maria Maria 3:11 A5 People I've Got A Dream 2:39 A6 You've Got A Friend Written-By — King* 3:28 B1 Love Me Love The Life I Lead 3:02 B2 Something To Remember You By 2:59 B3 I Can Feel The Warm 3:07 B4 Man Made World 2:26 B5 Just A Little Bit Harder 2:22 B6 Something Wonderful 3:18 Malcolm

Just listening to the flip of 119, You Can Depend on that, nice one never flipped it, but what a strange synth noise interwoven with the verse....

Jimmy Elledge - You Cant Stop A Man In Love / 12 Inch Release?
Just came across this, Jimmy Elledge - You Cant Stop a Man in Love on Songbird, but what looks like a 12 Inch release? never seen this, fabulous track, as good as any of the big hitters which people pay thousands for.... which still goes for peanuts. Released in 1979, so you could assume it got a 12 Inch release, as did everything else at that time, but Ive never seen this.. or is it a sold center UK release? dunno...Two 7" on Ebay at the moment, all for 20 or so quid.. Malcolm

Is This The Same Connie Mcgill Track? 'peace Of Mind'
Hi all, Anybody know whether, Connie McGill & The Visions / Super 103 - Peace Of Mind - 1962 is the exact same recording as released a year later on Triode 115 - I Wanna Be Yours / Peace Of Mind - 1963? not a re recording of the same song? Malcolm

Hoagy Lands The Next In Line
I think Ive made an assumption here Rob, as many do from the UK, basically because there are some many boots or 2nd Issues pressed for the 7ts northern scene.. From reading I think the general consensus is that there is a first press, in its various regional guises, then a re issue by Laurie in the early 7ts... have I got that right? Malcolm

Songs That Really Pull At Your Heart Strings . . .
got the Kent double CD when it came out, lots of slowies on there, had one or two LP's & House for sale, but the slower stuff was new to me.. I really like 'A Child of God' and 'All the Way Lover... whats great is her 45's are very cheap, but oh so good... 'Caught Up' ok so from the LP of the same name right? I need to check that out... its a shame I was at a record Fair in Paramatta / Sydney some years ago, and got offered all her LP's every one for 50 Aud.. I just took 'Hurts so Bad' for the Ace Spectrum cover... damm fool.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKR330Yht-Q

Songs That Really Pull At Your Heart Strings . . .
One for all of us? if you dont ROCK inside when the organ kicks.... Don't Look Now!!! Just to qualify Burts AC, I dont think Heart strings are just about intense slow meaningful tracks, it can full on madness as well..when you respond with the Heart, and not the Head, your authentic 'self' appears, the ego disappears, instantly... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXt-YP8vewQ

Songs That Really Pull At Your Heart Strings . . .
Great thread, love stuff like this... Lorraine Rudolph - After All I've Been Through For You. Margie Joseph - Never Can You Be, just brilliant.. above are my top two deepies, well pretty much.. Mary Love - Baby I'll Come, initially on the Kent LP of course in the 8ts, but when Mary sang the extended song at Kent records anniversary, Liza and me were in Heaven!! Larry Williams & ATS Express - Doing the Best You Can with What you Got, LUSH production!! and DEEP!! Randy Brown - I Was Blessed The Day I Found You, Utter Heaven this!!!! both versions Millie Jackson - If Loving You is Wrong, I Don't Want to Be Right... pretty new to me, but it stirs something strong.. Rhonda Davis - Long Walk on a Short Pier, forever Alex in Melbourne's track, she used to play it on a Radio show we co hosted in Sydney, absolute tugging here.. Carla Thomas - I've Fallen in Love with You - Big old TUG!!! and again...Lol Booker T Jones - The Best Of You, just brilliant track, lazy, perfect lounge back track... good place to be.. Darrow Fletcher - (Love Is My) Secret Weapon, the TUNE in our Car... made better after hearing Darrow sing it live... Eddie Floyd - Big Bird, ROCK & ROLL Baby, That Intro cant be beaten... cheers Malcolm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tsVr5B0P4A
