The Nu-Ron's - All My Life / I'm A Loner - Mixed by Tom Moulton
Hi Glyn, Ive not heard anything else since Lizzie posted above in early Sept. I get what Lizzie said, it sounds like a really hard situation. But, if you dont keep people up to date, and don't send something that they purchased, what ever the reason, thats really bad, and could be construed as theift. I have no idea, I have most probably lost my money, but that will be the first and last time I buy from from Brewerytown Records.

How Rare
Thats right, it is pretty rare mis-spelt. Ive no idea how many were prodcued, but I guess the miss spelling was at a single pressing plant? which is why there are not that many with that label in circulation... as to the exact numberrs, I couldn't say... but here is my old copy with Map design and spelt correctly.

Richard Blandon & the Dubs
Really into a track by these guys called "Lost in the Wilderness" on Vicki Records. A sort of Low Fi track that has gota certian funk to it... I love it. I dont know much about Richard Blandon, other than he is the Brother of Curtis Blandon, cousin of William Carlyle, according to Discogs. The Dubs were a harmony group form the 5ts. There is a CD of tracks by them called "Where Do We Go From Here" The Unavailable 24 Tracks Plus 3 Bonus Cuts... All Discogs are on sale from the States, so I wont bother ordereing from over there, sick of getting charges from the Royal mail, does anybody have this CD, and perhaps say what the tracks are like? "Lost in the Wilderness" is from 71, so I wonder if its a smattering of their older stuff plus some 7ts tracks thrown in? who knows Interesting group, and doesn't seem all that much out there on the Dubs, or Richard Blandon from the 7ts p[eriod, but i did find this from 83, he does have a passing resemblance to Richard Pryor in this one... Larry Williams & Johnny Watson ON FILM?
Just occurred to me that Id never really seen any footage of either of these brilliant artists on film, either separately or together as the duo on Okeh, but I did just find this. And of course, Johnny is proper 'dude' Love it... 🙂 anybody else know of any footage of them talking about their Okeh days, or Larry Williams with his ATS Express, again never seen him in discussion about the tracks released via Fantasy... all seem to be Angel Town Sound and lots of imput from Arthur Freeman... The Nu-Ron's - All My Life / I'm A Loner - Mixed by Tom Moulton
cheers for coming back Ken, Brewtown don't seem keen to speak to anybody, which is a bit crap. They said above "all the UK orders will go in box to a friend in the UK", so I guess they are doing them in batches? I ordered a WD as apposed to the Blue ones above, Id assume those would have come through first... who knows 😞 Anybody gets anything, pop a note on here to update us all...

Chi Lites
Absolutly Love 'Living in the Footsteps of another Man' one of my favorites by them. Tony Drake co wrote this under his real name of Samuel Garner...and recorded his version... 'I'm so Jealous', 'Love uprising' are two more classics and this version of Cornelius Bros and Sister Rose... only came out on 45 in Brazil.

Billy Valentine - We The People Who Are Darker Than Blue (Flying Dutchman / Acid Jazz)
Wow, an immediate YES! ordered one, even with the wait, its going to be a great 45 to own :-O)

Mojo / Contempo label -alternative takes / mixes
I dont know mate, just going on what I heard on his show...he da boss right... I bought all their other 45's bar 'Hung up on your Love' on that advise, who knows? I will say the move saved me a few quid though, which is nice 🙂 I do Like the purple Contempo 45's, blk issues are just that, Black issues, boring where ever they come from...

Stax or Motown what's your preference?
I knew he brought masters with him to Stax, I'd read that somewhere, so I guess all of 'Rare Stamps' tracks, and the subsiquent singles were all 'Groovesville Music', all recorded in Detroit, realeased about 1969 into 1970. Checked a few 45's I have, The Mad Lads - Did My Baby Call, Groovesville Music, Produced by Don Davis, and recorded Muscle Shoals Sound Studios, realeased in 72, so I guess well after he had started at Stax. Do you know Robb what else Don produced at Stax, I assume he produced the Dramatics? I know he produced singles for Carla Thomas, wonder if that work outweighed the tracks he brought with him you think?

Mojo / Contempo label -alternative takes / mixes
Isn't the mastering meant to be better on the Contempo 45 as apposed to the Paula Disc? Remember Richard Searling mentioning this on his show some years back...

Stax or Motown what's your preference?
Probably Motown for me also, but there are Stax sides that Motown could never reach, Carla's work, Eddie Floyd and Johnnie Taylor and William Bell, what can you say... And for most on here I would guess, the music Don Davis took from Detroit and produced at Stax could not be equaled even by Motown, it's that distinct and so part of the music we love, those Albums and singles underpin everything to us right? As William Bell said, I'd have to be "The Man in the Street" on this one...
