  1. Just buy what I like, and like what I buy...and that can be anything really, I do have a penchant for Aussie stuff but that only started cause I lived there a bit some decades ago... I have realised though that after all these years collecting, there are very few that had my taste in music, Martin who used to DJ at These Old shoes did, every time he bought one, or played one, he was spot on... he is a lovely guy Martin. I’ve never been a DJ, so I can’t say anything about that, but it must be very constrictive in that you have to have certain tracks... I guess they end up having two collections, one for us, one for them... lol What about that 'The Banks Brothers - Bring It All Back Home', Mark W just sold a spare of, very very cool record...
  2. only one on that grabbed my 'OVER PRICE Filer' was Chandlers @ £844.. about 400 quid over what its really worth right? Its always about and was at £250 then 350 for years and years... I certinaly would not part with the best part of a grand for it... good deep flip though... As for Cressa, love that track, but Id buy her others ones for cheap... and feel genuinly pleased with myself :-) and we all love Lulu dont we? Cressa you are in good company
  3. Ok that did it cheers guys
  4. Hey mate, I have the 45 of 'Fly Away Love Bird, and the other version as 45 and Lp by Tyrone Thomas, what else is on this LP thats worthy? Mal
  5. WOW, never occured to me about that 45, as to who was 'Veda' is / was. We seem to have asked about every other track on this site, but not this one. I cannot help with the picture Paul but thankns for posting, I know a bit more about a favorite 45 this morning So his first name or nickname surely, was 'Label', and he is Romantic Dan?
  6. Great Lp cool cover as well... havent listened to Barrett Strong in ages, sounds different than the 45 release to my ears?
  7. Used to work for Mirrorpix, that said I rememeber seeing these stills, and film, in David Redfern's Library, that would be in 1998 or there about... probably dupes... was there doing work experience for free...

  14. didnt know this made a Kent 'Town' single, I have it on orig, but I'd love it on Kent 45 like that... came out on Leedon Down-under.. How about: Barrett Strong - Money (That's What I Want) / Tamla first issue Richard Berry & The Pharaohs - Louie Louie / Have Love will.... / Flip Willie Mae "Big Mama" Thornton - Hound Dog / Peacock Etta James & The Peaches - The Wallflower (Roll With Me Henry) / Modern
  15. Little Anthony for me, just love his voice, you cant beat it... although I like them all obviously..
  16. Thanks everybody for casting your vote, but no surprises there, I wouldn't have taken any bet that wasn't Edwin... lets face it. Just wished the Marvelettes would have done better On with the next poll!! Mal
  17. We should not forget “Wide Awake in a Dream”. I just played "Rough Out There" / "Wide awake" back to back, deffo the same guy.
  18. Old thread, but its not been mentioned that over here in the Uk at least, it was always thought as Cap City being the original label, not Part III. And it seems as far as I can see that the Cap City 45 fetches allot more money, well it did, today its just silly isnt it.... Got mine from Roger Stewart, cost me a fiver....
  19. sounds like a custom carver, those tracks are not releated via label or production, to my knowledge, only thing that connects those tracks is they are all big northern tracks,, I guess if you can date the time John Anderson was selling the East Coast Connection you could roughly date this disc...
  20. Because its a nice one, dont have the other two on Aussie, wonder if they came out? would have been either HMV or Stateside. W&G did put out some Motown but not this title.
  21. yeah Rod that clips says 'with strings' so I guess thats one of em... Pursist Motown fans on this one, if thats a 'thing' at all, either go with Smokey, Rough it up with Edwin, or Shimmy in with the Marvelettes... I don't mind saying I'm with the Marvelettes.
  22. some great ones there, these are getting a bit weak, but... Universal Minds - I Betcha Norman Rickett - Player Play On Dooley Silverspoon - Game Players Benny Spellman - Fortune Teller The Impressions - Were a Winner Contours – I’m A Winner George & Gwen McCrae - Winners Together or Losers Apart Just Bobby - I'm A Winner Garland Green - You Played On A Player Ben Moore - I Got a Winner in Yo Maurice Williams - How To Pick A Winner The Servicemen - I Need A Helping Hand Candi Staton / Bob Fowler - You Got the Upper Hand True Reflection - Beer Cans And Empty Hands Chuck Jackson - Hand It Over The Dealers - You got it and how about?
